the above probably won't do anything. Better way is to go into the search for public member trees and search for Charlie Hollifield (this was a grandson of Daniel's in our line) Mine should be about the 4th result to come up. Hope this one helps.

I have reseaching this set of Hollifield's for a few weeks now. Daniel first married a Mineriva Smith she had a child when they married (R.P)however, RP has the last name of Hollifield and then they had 3 other children. Next he Married Margaret "Peggy" Scruggs and had 13/14 children. From what I have gathered together he lived in what is now the Little Switzerland Area back then it was Burke, then Mitchell and some of Mcdowell. From the land records I can find he owned somewhere around 180 acres. Our family tree is posted as the Hollifield/McKinney from Turkey Cove/Mitchell if you would like to look for more names.

Hello - My name is Ann Holeyfield and I am looking for information on my family. My grandfather, Herman Holeyfield, was from Forest, MS. His father I think was named Lucious. He moved from Missippi to Memphis and lost contact and didn't really contact his family again. I don't know any other Holeyfields outside of the ones that came from my grandfather. So I feel like we are kind of lost.

there is a william Talmadge Mack Holifield Tomestone in Pleasant Hill Methodist Church Cemetery in springville, Alabama. he had nine children. Two areburied at the same place.
There is a William Lenord Hollifield buried at Red Hill Missionary Baptist Cemetery in Springville, Alabama.he is a son of Talmadge. Lenord had seven children all born in Al.
ONe son Hubert Ray Hollifield is buried in Trussville, Alabama.
Another William Roy Hollifield is buried in Alabama.
It is written that the oldest Holyfield tomestone in the United States is in Belmont, Alabama at the Old Church Cemetry. A Daniel Holyfield born in 1753, died in 1834.He is listed in the book, "Virginia Soldiers of the American Revolution" Many people think that there was another Daniel in Georgia at that time. !!! Alabama was not a state at that time so this is the SAME Daniel. Alabama was part of Georgia. The placed changed names Daniel stayed in the same place! Alabama did not become a state until later, 1819.
He had a son William Hollifield listed as born in Georgia 1790. He became the first white family in chambers county, Alabama while it was full of Creek Indians.
there may be more but I have not search for them.

Hello. Glad to hear from you. I speak with Austin Spain each week. I never knew that he had a picture of Richard and Sarah. Yes, I would love for you to scan and send it to me. I sent Austin all the photo's that I had of the family and he sent me what he had. For sure Sarah Elizabeth Holifield/Holderfield was of Native American. I sent Austin a picture of his father, Ford Spain's, sister and you can clearly see that she is Native American. She even has two dream-catchers hanging on the outside of her house. Sarah was born in 1839 on the Buffalo River around Humphrey's County, Tenn. as far as the family knows. I just recently went to Tenn. and took a picture of the gravestone of Ford's sister's husband. Not sure if I sent that to Austin or not. Let me hear from you. Thanks, Martha

Hello. I was recently talking to my grandfather (Austin Lee Spain) and he gave me a photo of his grandfather Richard Calvin Spain and another woman believed to be Sara Elizabeth Holderfield. The entire Spain family is from Dyersburg, Tennessee. The back of the picture says Richard Calvin Spain & Sara Elizabeth Holderfield (believe to be, not sure). My grandfather had mentioned that his grandmother (believed to be Calvin's first wife) was Native American. If you would like I can get the picture scanned and sent to you. The woman in the photo does not appear to be Native American, if I had to guess I would say she looks German. Let me know if you want the picture.

Hi James,

At the moment those names don't sound familar, but I will ask my father and aunt about them. My grandfather was Herman Holeyfield. I have to get back to you on his dob. I know he lost touch with his family when he moved to Memphis around 1939 from Forest, Mississippi. Any connection with MS?

In the meantime feel free to email me. There is a Holifield web page that has pictures dating back to the 1800's of Holifield's. Very interesting. We have a family reunion coming up in July in Memphis that will be hosted by my Uncle: Ike Holeyfield. The spelling of Holey is not common so there should be some link there. Other than the lines from my grandparents I don't know of any other relatives spelling it that way.

Talk with you soon,

Ann ~
Mar22ie@aol.com

I have a Hiram Hollifield married to Lucinda McHone daughter of Joshua McHone and Elizabeth Hollifield. I don't have anything on his parents. I also have a Jacob Calvin Hollifield married to Myra McHone, sister to Lucinda. I have Jacobs sister Phoebe Caroline married to William Waldroup. I have another sister to Jacob, Louisa, married to Merritt Marion McHone, brother to Myra and Lucinda. I hadn't heard about this Esom, so I'm afraid I can't help you with info on Susan. This is the Buncombe/Madison county area.

Sarah Elizabeth Hollifield or Holderfield- Tennessee

Seeking information on a Sarah Elizabeth Hollifield-(Holderfield), who was said to have been born about 1839 in Tn., but her death record said it was 1834-Tn., but then again in 1860 Census record in Humphrye's County, Tn. it stated that she was about 12 years old and living with the Hugh Clemmons family. Sarah was supposed to have lost all her family due to some sort of illness, such as the Chlorea, but I cannot document this fact. Later, Sarah married Richard Spain. I need to know who her family was. It is highly speculated that Sarah was born from an Native American line, maybe her mother was Native American. I believe that Sarah was born on the Banks of the Buffalo River in Tennessee. By this I mean, there was no homes built at that time as far as I know now. Three different Census records show that Sarah said her father was born in France, then in Germany, and one was in Tennessee. I am so stumped by this lady. Any help would greatly be appreciated. I have no way to access many records in Tenn. at this time. Thanks! Martha

These folks are my brick wall. I know thast Lucinda married Jesse Hollifield in Madison County, NC in 1858. Jesse Hollifield (b. 1836) was from McDowell County, NC. I believe Lucinda was the daughter of Noah Flin, but have been unable to actually line the two people at all. I would also like to know why some of the apparent children of Noah were white, while others were listed as "mulatto" or colored. Noah's second marriage was to Mary Polly Barnes, but who was his first wife? Where is he buried? Was he known by any other names? Any info appreciated! Thanks, Danny Brown

Does anyone know anything about this family?
1870 Union Co SC census family #155
Hollyfield, James age 26
Harriet age 21
Joseph age 4
William age 1
Burghes, Annie age 66
Harriet age 14
Emma age 12
Annie Burghes is most likely Ann [Anna] Burgess, mother of Felix [1830], Caroline [1835], Elizabeth [1840] and William [1847] Burgess. I am trying to find out if there is a connection to the Burgess family. Harriet is a name common to several Burgess families in Union Co.
This may be the same family in Bartow Co GA in 1880:
Adairsville, dis. 6 family # 179
Hollifield, Jas 38 NC NC NC
Harriet 26 NC NC NC
Joseph 13 SC NC NC
Thos 7 GA NC NC
Oscar 5 GA NC NC
Nettie 3 GA NC NC
Marietta 2 GA NC NC

Thank you,
Aimee Burgess
