Armistead Grandy Hollowell - VA (1828/29-?)

I am looking for information on Armistead Hollowell. He was probably born in Norfolk County, VA, but I think his parents (Frederick Hollowell and Lydia) were originally from Perquimans County, NC. He was married 20 Dec 1855 to Mary Frances Griffin (1831/32-?).

I am related to Armistead Hollowell through his daughter, Alice Eudora Hollowell, who married Jerome Bonaparte Whitehurst and lived the Pleasant Grove section of Norfolk County, VA. Any information you have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Katherine Porterfield Gray

I am looking for the Hollowell married to Anna Slusser about 1897-98, I think in Illinois, Indiana or Kansas. Anna and, who I think might be Charles Hollowell from Missouri, had Frank Owen Hollowell about 1898. The father is never see or heard from again. Frank then marries Mildred Opper.
Any help finding Anna's husband (Frank's father) will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Robert Haney

Regarding Mary Ann (Claydon) Hollowell, she is the daughter of William Claydon and granddaughter of Laurence & Mary Claydon of Fringford, Oxfordshire, England. Her sister is Maria (Claydon) Lake. Her brother Thomas went to America about 1845 to the Albany area of New York. A few years later, he was in Aurora, Kane, IL. He is in the 1860 US Census Mortality Schedule. His widow (Mary Wise Claydon Denny/Dennyson) and children stayed in the area , with some kids moving to Iowa and Nebraska (Sarah MILLS, Elizabeth REEVES, Friend CLAYDON). Many descendants settled in the Pacific Coast area of Oregon and Washington. See my Ancestry.com tree, Claydons of Fringford OXF.

Mary Ann Hollowell is listed as an heir of her uncle James Claydon of Greenfield, Saratoga, NY: Will of Claydon, James - Greenfield, Saratoga Co., NY - Book 24 Page 383.
See my page on a letter from Mary to the executor:

http://www.colinlmiller.com/family/james_claydon/1876-04-08_...

Hope this helps. Do you have their immigration info and other descendants?
Hello Donna,

You are a trooper! According to my grandfather's information on Myrtle Lucille Hollowell Davidson's death certificate, he said Myrtle's father was W. F. Hollowell and her mother's maiden name was Davis. That is all he had. Can you make any connections with those names? Myrtle Lucille's sister Was Willie Pearl Hollowell Ramsey, married to Tom ramsey around 1908 in Northern MS. She went by Pearl, I think. They were from around Water valley, MS area in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Also from around the Pontotoc area.
Henry Levi Davidson and Myrtle Lucille Hollowell were married around 1914-1916 in Pontotoc county.

I appreciate your responses greatly! Thanks so much. Phyllis wilkinson in Oregon

Could this Pearl have been the daughter of Robert Hugh Hollowell and Beulah Elizabeth Higginbotham? If so, I have information on this family. I have lots of information on the Hollowell family in Lafayette and Yalobusha areas.

Donna Hollowell

Hello Paul Beck,

I am searching for my grandmother, Myrtle Lucille Hollowell, who was born in Water Valley, MS. about 1898. She had an older sister named, Pearl Hollowell, who married a Tom (Thomas)Ramsey shortly after 1910. Thomas had a brother named Louis.

Myrtle married Henry Levi Davidson around 1916-17. They had two children, Opal and Leonard "Dick" and lived in the Pontotoc area. They then move to Poteau, OK and another sone, Arvil was born there. They then moved to Aubrey, AR where Another son, Cecil Davidson was born in 1926. Myrtle died of pneumonia in 1929 when Cecil was 3yrs. old. Cecil is my father.

Myrtle and Pearl grew up in the Water Valley area, and I believe they were raised by grandparents whose names I am unsure of.

Lucy Whitehead Hollowell was the daughter of my ggg grandfather, Thomas John Whitehead. Her brother, William, was my gg grandfather. I know that Lucy married Calvin Hollowell and had at least 2 children, Emma and a son, name unknown. My mother found this particular photo and we felt that there might be other family members who would like to get a copy.
I am also trying to solve a family mystery involving my grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Goepper. My grandmother was married at age 17 (1923) to a man named Marion Smith.(Mary's mother was Clara Whitehead Goepper, niece to Lucy.) It is believed that the Whiteheads, Hollowells and Barons were all friends with a family by the name of Smith in Fayette County, IN. That is how they met. I cannot find a marriage record, but I have found the divorce papers from 1924. I'm hoping someone from these 4 families has any kind of info to prove this marriage happened . A bible record, photo, etc.. I am attaching a photo of the gentleman I believe to be Marion Smith.

HOLLOWELL, Nixon O 1810 - 1880? IN KY AR

Nixon O Hollowell was born about 1810 Indiana. On Jan 30 1831 in Jefferson County, KY, he married Rebecca Zink. He married 2nd Eliza Curles on Sept 27 1866 in Orange County, IN. I am interested in any children he had with Rebecca Zink. Nixon Hollowell is listed on the 1840 census in Orange County, IN, age 30-40 with a woman age 20-30 and four children: 2 girls 5-10 and 2 boys under 5. On the 1850 census in McCracken County, KY, Nixon is listed with Rebecca Hollowell and several children with the last name Rucks. On the 1860 census in Fulton County, AR, Nixon and Rebecca are listed with some of the same children but with the Hollowell last name plus a younger girl, Emma or Emily Hollowell born abt 1854 in KY. On the 1870 census Nixon is back in Orange County, IN with 2nd wife Eliza plus Oliver Hollowell (listed as Rucks on the 1850 census) and Emily Hollowell. Who are the Rucks children and were they adopted by Nixon Hollowell? Any help on this family would be appreciated. Also there is a story that Rebecca and some of the children were killed in a raid during the Civil War. Any truth to this story?

Hi, I believe the woman you are looking for was my Great Grand mother, my Grand father was Reece Allen Barr and his father was Charlie Barr and his mother was Serelva Barr, Lilly was his twin sister, and he also had brothers and sisters named Nancy, Charlie and Berthie, but on his obituary his mother name is listed as Serelva "Revy" Hollaway, and I have been looking for info about his parents, there could of been a mistake made and her name could of been Hollowell I'm not sure. they where all from Greene County Arkansas "Paragould".

I'm looking for info on "Tilman" Hollowell, born abt. 1820 and probably died between 1855-1860. This is may be a middle name, being I have found nothing but the 1850 census with his name. In 1850 he is with his wife, Margaret, 29, Isiah, 7, Brightman, 4, Marthann, 1.

Margaret has remarried in 1860 and has two more children with the Hollowell name; Richard, 9 and Margaret, 5.

I have looked at Vickie's site and she has nothing on them, but the census information.

Can anyone help?
