Thank you for the timely post. TL & Nanabelle were my grandparents. WD died before I was born but I havesome wonderful memories of Greatgrandma Holsapple and her sister, Aunt Cynthy. The timeliness of the post is that my older sister and I are putting together a family history and this fits right in with the Family Stories.

A copy of the pictures would be greatly appreciated. In return I'll see if I can find a 4 generation photo of Holsapple;Hall family.

thanks,

Al Hall
Midland, TX

I have a William H. Holsapple, born Sept. 1879. He was the son of William Franklin Holsapple and Mary J. Brown. He did have siblings named James A. and Nancy M., and another named Marie or Mary but nicknamed "Bet" (maybe your "Bettie") but I find no sign of the others you mentioned. Acc. to my records, this William H. had the following siblings: Tintia Vian (Diane) b. 1853; Clarrisa E. b. 1857; Katherine Willie (Katy) b. 1863; Sally Ann, b. ca 1878, and Maggie M. b. 1884. Do we have the same William H.?

Davenport Times, Jan 13, 1917

Captain and Mrs., Holsapple of LeClaire are celebrating their golden wedding today at the home of their daughter, Mrs. T. L.
OK, thank you. Some months ago, someone sent me the following message. "John Wright Holsapple's father was married and in Calloway county, KY in 1850 so it is difficult to trace him backward without additional resources. His name was John Phillip Holsapple and was born about 1828 in Virginia. He married a Mary Ann Wright who was born in Alabama. I suspect that John Phillip was a son of a John Holsapple and was born in Monroe county Virginia, based on an 1830 census. And a grandson of a Phillip Holsapple. There is an Alexander Holsapple in Calloway county in 1850 whom I suspect is an uncle. He is a son of Phillip."
But as the writer pointed out, there is no corroborative evidence so far, nor any evidence to connect these two branches. I have a fairly complete record of the descendents of John Wright Holsapple if that would help you. Let me know.

Thanks for the reply, Mr. Hutto. I agree with you on those names. Do you or does anyone happen to who John Phillip Holsapple's parents were? My line of Holsapples comes from Johann Jacob Holsapple, one of the Hessian soldiers, who was married to Catherine Van Meter. He and his family ended up in Clinton Co., KY (before some of them moved on, although some of his descendents are still there). But there seems to be another line of Holsapples who followed the same migratory routes and ended up just a little further west in Kentucky. I am trying to find out whether these two families are related. Perhaps they were descended from Holsapple brothers or cousins who fought in the same Hessian regiments. There were, I believe, three soldiers named Holsapple listed in the ranks but no indication of relationships. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Helena or Lena Holsopple born at sea 1840s/1850s

I am looking for any information on a Helena/Lena Holsopple (or any of its various spellings) that may have been born at sea. She would have been immigrating to the US from Germany/Bavaria. My information is sketchy, since I'm getting most of it from census information. I'm estimating her year of birth as 1848. She was married to Jacob Brown and lived in Western Maryland at least from 1870 - 1920. In both the 1910 and 1920 census, she is living in Allegany County, MD with her daughter Lilly Parker and family. She probably died after 1920 as she is no longer in the census in 1930. Her other children included Henry, Richard, Caspar, William, Charlotta, Ida, and Mary.

Any help is greatly appreciated as I'm stuck BIG TIME.

Thanks,

Crissy

I am also looking for information on Margaret Ann Holsapple ,born 4-22-06 and her sister Agnes Smith Holsapple, born 2-17-11. Their parents were Frank B. and Nancy Eusebia Smith Holsapple who lived in Galway, Saratoga County, NY. I believe Margaret married Stuart L. Eggerton, born 7-17-1892, d. 4-7-1962. I understand they lived in Albany, NY at one time. Nancy is my husband's grandmother's sister. Frank and Nancy are buried in Galway Cemetery, Galway, NY. I believe Agnes married a man named Paul Miller Kain but can't find anything to assure me of that. Have you found anything more since posting this message?

All this information I found at this web site: http://www.berkshire.net/~bathrick/genealogy/d0001/s0000054....

There is quite a bit of information on the Holsapple/Holtzapfel family.

Regards,

Susan

Linda,
Yes, thank you. But I would certainly appreciate as muchof the line of John and Ella Belle as you feel safe in divulging (names and dates to avoid confusion). Also, you included the name Bigley on the Holsapple side. I don't recognize that name at all. Who is it? Do you happen to have parents for Sarah Elizabeth Call? Thanks.

Dear Art
I must apologize for the delay in answering you-we were out of town. Was truly thrilled to hear about your Holsapple's though don't think they are in my immediate family. I started with a family bible record and got most of my information from www.virtuel.qc.ca/simmons/.She had 74 hits on the holsapple surname and there is mention of a Margaret and Elisabeth. This is from church and census records.
Showing my ignorance, where is Dunham in Quebec related to St. Armand and Abercorn,Sutton where my ancestors were?
My grgrgrgrgrandfather was William Holsapple who was born in Claverack,NY and moved to Canada after or during the revolution. His son,John, was also born in NY and moved to Quebec and had two sons that I know of.My grgr grandfather was David Edwin and his older brother was William S and wondered if there was a connection between him and your Margaret or Elizabeth. I really know so little outside of David Holsapple's family. Don't know if there were other Holsapples that came to Quebec with William and John or not.
Will be anxious to hear if you find any connection and sorry that I couldn't help you more.
Happy Hunting-
Barbara Holsapple Hancock

They had at least 2 children, Homer and Jessie Hortence (b. 1884). Jessie is my GGrandmother, but her brother married a Lillie Goodpasture. If this is a match, please let me know. I don't have much information on that side of the line yet, but am working on it slowly.
Marriage of Johann Heinrich HOLZAPFEL

Various researchers report the marriage of Johann Heinrich HOLZAPFEL in 1661 to my Maria Magdalena "Lena" TRAUT in the Gerabronn -- Michelfeld area of Germany, but do not list any sources that I am aware of regarding exactly where (book & page) this information came from. We have been researching the church books, cannot find the entry, and believe that the actual marriage date may be more recent.

Also, there is the possibility of two Hans Jacob HOLZAPFELs, one being his brother, and one being his son.

Does anyone have the actual cite for where this marriage information originally came from? It is extremely important to our TRAUT research for this period.

We will also be checking Witzenhausen records, since he reports family there in his Germantown, PA will dated 10 Jan 1735

Thank you in advance for any assistance!
Craig H.
Johann Heinrich HOLTZAPFEL & wf Maria Magdalena TRAUT
I am researching Johann Heinrich TRAUT, Johann Balthazar TRAUT, Jeremias TRAUT and their (older?) sister Maria Magdalena “Lena” TRAUT, who married Johann Heinrich HOLTZAPFEL, perhaps in about 1661. I have done quite a bit of work on these four individuals, particularly with regard to their time together in Düedelsheim around 1712 through 1714, their exile to Krefeld, and then after their joint purchase of land together in Germantown, PA on 22 Oct 1719.

Has anyone seen any sources documenting Maria Magdalena TRAUT as being born in Gerabronn circa 1640 and as marrying in Gerabronn circa 1661 to Johann Heinrich HOLTZAPFEL? (or even different dates)

I assume this is the Gerabronn near Michelfeld. They are about 18 km apart in Landkreis Schwäbisch Hall, Baden-Württemberg.

Johann Heinrich HOLTZAPFEL is reported by some as being born about 1641 in "Hizenhunfen," but we have not being able to locate this village. Perhaps it is a transcription error from the will. Does anyone know the correct town name?

Thank you so much!
Craig H.
