I found this very interesting article about Lucius Henry Holsey (1842-1920) on the online Cyclopedia of Georgia:

Lately, I have been doing a lot of research into the Methodist Episcopal Church and the M.E. Church, South.
George Foster Pierce, a bishop of the MECS -- who is mentioned in the article as having "joined other white Methodists and the remaining black bishop in the laying on of hands that signified the elevation of Holsey to the bishopric" -- was my great-great-great-granduncle.
I noticed some of you were looking for information about Holseys who were born in Georgia, and thought I would pass this on. I was searching around a bit on the georgiaencyclopedia.org site, and found that Lucius Holsey had at least one daughter, Kate. He may have had other children, and possibly sons who would have carried the name into successive generations.
Good luck to all of you researching Holseys. I hope this clue proves helpful to someone.
Regards,
Walker Pierce
