Abstracts of the Wills and Estate Records of Granville Co, North Carolina 1746-1808
October 10, 1794 Proved Nov 1794
Jacob HOLSTON wills to wife CATHERINE all lands until my eldest son is of age and then to all my sons; to eldest son JOHN my shotgun; to my wife and daughters all my household goods and furniture and stock until they married, then to each have her part; at death of wife, all divided to my daughters.
Executers: my wife CATHERINE, HENRY STRAITOR
WITNESSES: JACOB VINCENT, SUSANNA WADE, JOHN HATCHER
Note: witness Susanna Wade MAY BE sister Susanna listed in Jacob's father Nicholas Holstein's will!
"I give and bequeth to Catherine my dearly beloved wife my lands till my eldest son becomes of age. Then to be equally divided among my well beloved sons and to my eldest son John my shot gun and to my wife and daughters my stock of ?house goods and furniture till any daughter marries then to have her part, it is all to be equally divided amongst my daughters after my wife has her equal part her lifetime and after her decease to be equally between my daughters..."
Jacob HOLSTON married Catherine Straitor in 1780; by 1794 all children were underage when he died. Seeking names of children besides the "oldest son John". How was the estate divided once the sons became of age? Once Catherine died?
Any information regarding this family is welcomed.
