A service will be held for Joseph K. Holston, 79, . . . died June 27, 1997 at . . . Holston was born in Wythe County (Virginia) to Marco (Ellis?) and Georgia Della (Lefler?) Holston.
He was a veteran of the Army and served in World War II. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and in northern France. Holston received the following medals: Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Presidential Citation, Expert Rifleman and Combat Infantry Badge.
He is survived by his wife Mozelle of Rural Retreat, a daughter Alice of Durham, three sisters, Mary H. Gordon and Cynthia H. Walton , both of Rural Retreat, and Virginia H. Hurley of Austinville, a brother James B. Holston of Rural Retreat.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rural Retreat Volunteer Emergency Service. Lindsey Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
