I saw your note about not knowing much about the Homewood side of the tree. I have a family tree for about 2/3's of the Homewood family back to the 1620's, and your relatives show up on it. I show Ira Homewood (1868-1927) married to Harriet Follett, with Hariett coming from a Thomas Dean, who also had a William as I assume was her brother. Iasaac's father was Thomas Homewood (1801-1891) married to Mary Munn (1805-1882) - the were married in 1853. Thomas's father was James Homewood (1768-1827) who was married to Elizabeth Munk (1770-1807). Thomas had 2 brothers (James, Isaac) and 3 Sisters (Elizabeth, Frances, Ann). His brother James Homewood (1792-1831) is where my tree comes from, so I guess we are related back to the late 1700's-1820's. Is any of this new to you?

Yes, Hattie is a nickname for Harriet. This is the same person you have married to Ira Homewood. In my previous post, I made an error in stating that Hattie was a sister of Ephraim Follett. The correct relationship is his daughter. Harriet and my grandfather, Thomas William Follett were siblings. After seven years, I had given up hope of ever receiving a reply to my post. How are you related? How may I help you?

Just saw this - I know this is 7 years later but I have a Harriet Folett married to an Ira Homewood (1868-1927), whose parents were Isaac Homewood (1829-1897) and Sara Dean (1836-1890). Is Hattie short for Harriet?

I couldn't find a Frank Homewood in my files but I do have a Jesse Holmwood/Homewood b. 3 Sep 1855 at Ulcomb, Kent. His parents listed on the birth certificate as Richard Holmwood and Marry Barrow. The William H. Homewood you listed on pgs 92 and 93 of "Homewood and Collateral Ancestors" was b. 20 Feb 1854 at Biddenston, Kent. Could your William H. and my Jesse have been brothers?
This is the only possible connection I could see between your information and mine on the Homewood/Holmwood family.
Don

Hello
I don't know if you can help me or not. I have been looking for my Grandmothers ancestors for the past few years and can find no records of them.
Grandma's Grandfather was George Frederick KENNETT (B:1845) and he married Louisa HOMEWOOD (1841-1890).
The story Grandma told us was that when they married (1/1/1866 - Brighton registry office) Louisa was disowned by her well to do landed family. Louisa was born at Plumpton Manor and I have recently come across a card from her brother George E. Homewood to my Grandmother when she was a teen. Louisa's father we think was Francis, but that is all we have been able to find.
Do you have any records that match these names? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Ian (carbinei@aapt.net.au)

I have them listed in a book that I'm writing which I've posted on line. You can view it at the following location:

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~edbradford/

Go to the Books page and open the book on Homewoods. Also I have posted works by other researchers. They will be under the Other Researchers page.

If you have aditional information that I can add or find an error please contact me through the web site.

................Ed

Julie, there seems to be two lines of Homewoods that are currently being researched. One is from Sussex, England and the other in Kent, England. I'm sure that at some point back in time these two lines become one. I and others are researching the Kent line. I have created a book about my findings and posted it on the internet. You can access it on the Books page of my web site at the folowing location: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~edbradford/
Other researchers have done exhaustive work on the Sussex line of Homewoods. I have posted links to their works on my web site as well on the Other Researcher's Work page. If you find that you link into one of the families, please contact us.
..............Ed Bradford

I've sent another email to you. This time I used the contact link on your web site instead of trying to read the one that is listed on RootsWeb.

I too have a web site where I've posted books that I'm writing on my ancestry. One of them is about my Homewood line. The link to the web site is as follows:

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~edbradford/

If you look under Other Researchers you'll see that I've posted a link to your web site.

...................Ed Bradford

hi ed

thanks for your email which I used to read your book with interest.
I am the Nephew of Michael Bachouse, son of his sister Daphne. Uncle michael inspired me to research my fathers line 30 years ago. I've been researching ever since.
in recent years I have also researched my mothers line (as you will see on my web page). I made the descision to ignore uncle michael's research and start again, so as to keep an unbiased approach. uncle michael deeply mistrusts the internet, unlike myself (as long as the information can be independantly coroborated - I dont take the IGI as gospel). as you can see some of my research is at odds to uncle michaels conlusions. I have also listed all my sources. I have also got a lot of certificates, which I have transcribed onto the web site, as well as more gravestones, etc.
I would love to know where uncle michael got some of his info, as I cannt find any corroborating evidence at all. maybe he has old family bibles?
also you will note I am independantly related to Homewoods from woodchurch and Willsborough (ashford) which rings bells with your account of james homewood and his family. there must be some link there.
The homewood/wood/munk family is very complicated, and there are more 1st, 2nd & 3rd cousin marraiges, than uncle michael realised.

dave russell

hi ed

havnt received any e-mails.
but I would be interested in your links to the family. I link twice to homewoods. once through my gran - annie elizabeth homewood. and also through elizabeth homewood from woodchurch who married william tyler from high halden, my great, great, great grandfather.

my web site is http://mysite.orange.co.uk/family-tree-russell

which has all the information that I have. if you have any more, I'm all ears :-)

dave russell
