Mr. and Mrs. John T. HOMME, established their homestead in section 26 1/4 of Highlanding township soon after the "Resevation" land was opened in 1904.
John was born in MN in 1875 and his wife, Emma NELSON, in 1876 To this union seven children were born. George, James, Roy, William, Frances and Myrtle. Four were born in Highlanding township between October 31, 1907 and Feb. 7, 1917.
The children attended Quinton school. District 47, north of the homestead in the same section and chummed with Bennie SVANJORD of Sec. 36.
John HOMME attended the highlanding Town board meeting on march 8, 1910 and was elected Road overseer of Disrict 4. Mr. HOMME was a farmer and also taveled around and drilled wells. Mrs. HOMME'S brother A. T. NELSON and family, lived on the next quarter of land to the east.
