Hi all. Since there has been much more activity since I first posted in 2001 I thought I would give this a try again. Otto Honig (my great gandfather) was born in Baranowka Russia. Which today is now a part of the Ukraine. He came from a German family who had gone looking for land in Russia in the late 1800.s In fact Otto's grandmother Fredricka Wilhelmine Zahn Boehlke was born in Minutsdorf, provence of Posen, Germany. Which today is now a part of Poland. Otto's parents were Franz Honig and Bertha Boehlke. Franz and Bertha had moved with there families to this area of Baranowka, so I am hoping someone with ties to a Honig family from the Posen area might be able to help me.
Otto and his brother were the only ones of his Honig family to come over. They arrived in the U.S. after escaping in the middle of the night, on July 16, 1911. They went and lived with Boehlke relatives (last name Kutz) in North Dakota. Bertha's mother, one sister and two brothers and come over to the U.S. and Canada. After trying to work for a year and send money to there parents. Otto and Albert received the news that the Russian army went in in the middle of the night and killed the whole family. To this day I do not know of the names of Otto and Alberts brothers and sisters. Or any information on Otto's father Franz Honig. Any help would be appreciated
