Hook(e) Surname Group

Hello,

I have started a Hook(e) Surname Group. I started this because I ended up with a lot of Hooke information that I wasn't sure belonged to my line, but I thought might be of use to others. I believe that of the several Hook(e) lineages in Olde England that some are actually related, but the only way to know for sure is by DNA. My hope is to reunite the groups that are related, and help those that are not overcome obstacles and share information.

My homepage is found at:

http://www.genebase.com/node/A1622474

Please consider joining our group and pass the information on to others interested in the Hooke name. I have a Spaxton Hooke family tree dating back to 1665 with 129 listed and 77 listed on a line commonly referred to as the Bramshott Hookes.

I also post information on Coats of Arms that I have, and eventually will post all the information that I have purchased from the College of Arms as time permits.

Adam Hook, b.abt 1873, wife Gertrude, abt 1877, lived Shelby Co., IN

I have an original 8”x10” photograph of “Ad Hook’s family”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Photo was taken in Shelbyville (Shelby Co.) IN, and shows four girls, ages about 18, 15, 8 & 3, and two boys, ages about 13 & 6. The photo was taken, by my estimate, in about 1911-1912.

I found the family of Adam Hook in Shelbyville (Shelby Co.) IN census for 1910 and 1920. 1910 showed children Blanche (14), Charles (12), Maude (7), Roy (4) and Edith (2). 1920 census shows Charles (21), Roy (14), Edythe (12) and two other children.

Obviously the children in the photo of the six children were Blanche, Charles, Maude, Roy and Edith, plus a daughter older than Blanche.

Get back to me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to this Hook family.

J. F. Hook, hit and killed by train at Wapanucka, Oklahoma

Appears in "The Wapanucka Press" 22 October 1903 Wapanucka, Johnston County, Indian Territory, now Oklahoma

RUN OVER AND KILLED

J. F. Hook, a farmer living about four miles north of Wapanucka, was run over and killed Tuesday evening by the east bound passenger train on the Choctaw, Oklahoma & Gulf Railroad near the rock crusher about four miles west of town. MR. Hook had been in town all day, and was crazed with drink. He disappeared from the streets late in the evening and no one thought anything of him until the passenger train came into the station with his dead body on board. The engineer in charge of the train states that the man was walking down the track and seeing his slowness to get off he blew the whistle; that he got off but just before the train reached him, when it was too late to stop, he stepped again upon the track, when the engine struck his body, breaking an arm, fracturing his skull and killing him instantly. The train was stopped and the body brought to town and left at the depot until his people were notified of the accident. Mr. Hock was hard at hearing and this, coupled with whiskey, was the cause of the accident. He was a good, honest man and was a good citizen. The remains of the dead man was buried yesterday at the Wells Valley cemetery.

Hook family, London

I am looking for information on Frederick Theodore Hook. His marriage certificate shows that he married Elizabeth Westall on 26th August 1906 in Westminster, London. His father is recorded as Thomas James Hook. At the time of his marriage he was about 23 years old. If anyone has any information that would seem to link to this I would be interested to hear from you.

Hi everyone

I am looking for information leading to the connections to my Skinner family and Roach families. I have the Hook family file posted on my web site/page and would like for you all to check it out and see if you can connect to any of the families I have listed. You can find my site at the following address.
http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/p/r/i/Steve-A-Pritchett... Please let me know if you have anything to share. This will only be posted for a while. ftm only allows five reports up at a time and I like to rotate them so I get all my research out there for others to find.

God Bless
Steve

HOOK

I am just returning to my family history research after a long absence. I would like to continue constructing a family tree for HOOK.

Principal figures to start with are Charles Henry Hook, who married a Jane Hunter on 28 February, 1906 in Cootharabba Hill, Gympie, Queensland, Australia. I am looking for any ascendant/descendant information for these two people.

It is my ultimate aim to have a worldwide family tree for all people of the HOOK name. I would appreciate any family tree information from anyone in the world who shares this same name within their families as I hope to make connections with them all.

If anyone wishes to send me information, either a Gedcom or a file attached to an email would be very welcome. I would be quite happy to send anyone who requests it all the information I have in return. I run Legacy 6 as a genealogy programme on my computer.

Thanks for your assistance, everyone. .
There seems to be quite a bit of interest in families in Hastings, Sussex. Rosemary Hook-Reens was a Kenward but I don't know how to contact her. Has anyone come across the name Kenward in the 1860's in Hastings? I am searching valiently for Caroline Kenward who with William Goodman had a daughter Julia Goodman. Married ?I do not know. Caroline is listed in the 1861 census; other than that, nothing on anyone. Can anyone shed any light on these people ? It would be a wonderful gift to find them. Thank you.

Hook Immigration from Switzerland

I do not have access to the immigration records and need someone to look up Frederick George Hook's immigration. I know nothing except on the 1920 census for Erath Co., Texas, he states he immigrated in 1864. He was born in 1844 and some of the census records state Switzerland and some state Germany (I assume Germany occupied Switzerland at the time he was born.) His great granddaughter says he was 12 when he immigrated but it looks like he was 20.
Alban HOOK, Chester County, PA, ca 1765 - after 1800

I am a descendant of Alban HOOK, b ca 1760 and Hannah FRYER, b 1769, in Chester County, PA. Alban and Hannah had 3 children of whom I am aware, and possibly the Rev. Alban HOOK, a Methodist minister, is a 4th. The known children are Percifer/Persifor, b ca 1896, Orpha W, b 1800, and an Abraham, birth date unknown. The Rev. HOOK was b ca 1788, and it is possible he could have been the eldest. The HOOK family is a brand new connection for me, having only just learned about them in Oct, 2002, and while there is some data on the Rev HOOK, there is none on my 5X ggf.

I did see a message today dated from 3 years ago concerning Percifer, but did not reply to it, as it seems everytime there is an old message, the e-mail address no longer works. I have reason to believe Persifor lived in Wilmington, DE for several years. There were several spellings of his name, by the way, and I have used a couple of them in this message.

Orpha HOOK had a child named Susanna, born out-of -wedlock in 1822, supposedly in Delaware County. Susanna married Richard DAWSON in 1840. He came from Ireland, via Canada ca 1832.

Is anyone looking for this particular HOOK connection?

I am trying to connect with a Samuel Hook who married Rebecca Carlile. Rebecca was born about 1798 in Ireland or Pennsylvania. Samuel probably the same. They had about 7 children, Sarah, Isabella Isreal, Anna Subah, Margaret, Mary, and Samuel. Rebecca's father was William Carlile, born around 1753 in Ireland. The family may have come over in 1796, and may have moved from Pennsylvania to Ohio. Anybody have any clues?

Henry Hook VC

I've seen a few queries about the famous Henry Hook, the VC-winner portrayed in the film Zulu. I was visiting a pub in the Isle of Dogs, London, UK, last year when I bumped into an elderly man - Bertie Hook - who claimed that the famous Henry was his grandfather's brother. I'd love to believe him ... but then I've often claimed Henry as a relative of mine! For the record, I'm descended from Donald James Hook, b Sydney Australia 1935, Walter Hook b Sydney 1901, Thomas Augustus Hook, b Sydney 1869, Augustus Hook b London UK 1843, and Thomas Leir Hook, b 1814.

I am looking for the family of James Hook. The father was born in 1825. The son, also James Hook was born in 1864. I have other handwritten information on the family. I purchased a large number of books from an auction in Missouri. As I was sorting through them some papers fell out of one of the books which contained some genealogy information. I would love to share it with the Hook family. Please e-mail me at Auntjamama4112@aol.com I won't be checking these message boards.
