I have info on the Hoop family in Va. A brief outline follws. Peter Hoop (sometimes spelled Hup or Hupp) arrived in Philadelphia in August 1749. I believe that Peter was married a first time to a Christina and maybe Peter Jr. is their son. Then he was married to Mary Magdalene Roher. I believe that John and Susannah(my ancestor) is their children. In 1771 Peter Sr. bought a farm have copy of deed and location) in Shenandoah Co. He also owned several (also have locations) propertys in Woodstock. Peter died on March 6, 1773. His wife Magdelena married two more times and had a daughter, Magdelina, with her last husband, John Cook.
Child 1: Peter Hooop Jr. married March 29, 1796 in Shenandoah Co. Va. Modeline Kibler. Her parents were John and Catherine Kibler. They had 12 children. Some born in VA and others in Ohio.
Child 2: John Hoop married 1)Sarah Reader 0n April 1, 1797 in Shenandoah Co. VA. They had one child John Hoop JR. 2)Rachel Goans(several spellings)in 1798 in Shenandoah Co. VA. They also went to Ohio.
Child:3 Susannah(my ancestor) married Nicholas Druck and remained in Shenandoah.
Co. VA
Half Sister Magdelene Cook married 28 Aug 1802 John Layman.
I have additioal info including copies of Peter Hoop Sr will, deeds, ect. Also I have info on the Ohio to Indiana Hoops. I will share any information I have!!!! Carole

I am looking for information on any Hoop's living in Michigan. I know of Clara Hoop (married to Otto Arndt) b. 1895 in Michigan. Her Father was Henry Hoop b. aug 1861 in Mecklenburg, Germany and married to Betsey Maska(?). Henry's mother was Mary b. June 1823.
I know Clara had siblings: Mary, Henry, Fred, and Ernest.
I also know there is a Mary married to a Louis Hoop and their children are Lena, Henry, Minnie, and Mary. (Not sure if this is the same Mary - mother of Henry - grandmother of Clara).
Also know of a Charles Hoop b. in Germany, married to Effie b. in Ohio(?) and their children Emeline, Henry, Amelia C., Charles, Minnetta(Minnette), John, Perry, Ida, and Etnie. All children were born in Michigan.
Also, a Henry J. Hoop married a Cora E. and had children Clifford W. and Louise M.
If you have any more information on these people or know how they are connected it would be appreciated.

John-Am hoping maybe you can give me a lead. My ggg grandfather William Rouse was born approx 1810 and married Anna Tanner. 3 children are documented to this marriage. I have documents that say Anna Tanner Rouse was deceased by 10-10-1837. William remarried and 7 more children were born. In the 1850 census for Shelby County IN his wife is named Elizabeth age 23 (we have always thought her last name was Brumback but have not been able to prove). In the 1860 census his wife is Elizabeth age 48. In the Indiana marriage index I found a marriage between Elizabeth Hoop and William Rouse on 2/7/1858. Is this Elizabeth Hoop a part of your information? Did he marry 2 different women named Elizabeth or did they not know how old they were since Elizabeth seems to have aged 25 years in the space of 10 years. Any help appreciated.
Bonnie, thanks for info. Nellie's parent's names were new to me. I am descended from Albert Hoop, born 28 Oct 1854 in Fairland, Shelby, IN. Married Mariah Antoinette Kinney (apparently went by name Phoebe) b. 22 Sept. 1855, on 29 April 1873. Albert died 14 Feb. 1880. As for Peter Jr's wife I show two choices Modeline Kibler as you show and Magdelena Gibler, both with same marriage date. Are you aware of that confusion? I hope I am doing this right and you are getting these from me.
Thanks.
Gail

Margaret
I show Samuel as the second child of Peter and Madeline born 1800 in Highland County, Ohio. That is all the information I have on him, although I have more info on the other children. I had a Mary penciled in and then erased. Can't remember why I did that. Wish I had more for you.

I am very new at E-mail and computer research but I'll do my best. I think we have corresponded in the past-years ago-are you Margaret Ketron? I have tried to do this off and on over the years but now the kids are all gone and we are retired and this is the year!! I am also in touch with Bonnie. My address is davengail@infowest.com. Thanks for responding. Gail

Danny, Thank you so much for your reply, and the information on the Sturdivant/Hoop family. John L. Sturdivant was a brother to my line of Randolph Sturdivant. John L. has a lot of connecting lines in Ind. and Iowa, you have certainly helped my progress on John's family--
