Classification: Query
Surnames: Hoopes, Young, Wood
My gr-gr grandmother was Clara Adeline Hoopes (Young) b. 17 Oct 1851 Pennsylvania, migrated to Douglas County Kansas and then to Woodland Ca. Clara died in Oakland Ca 1934 and was buried in a pioneer cemetery next to one of her Daughters; Ethel Belle Young d. 30 Nov 1888 (5 Yrs old) near Woodland Ca 1934.

Clara's father was William C Hoopes, b. about 1822 Pennsylvania and I assume buried in Douglas County Kansas were they last lived. He was married to an Adeline M. (not sure of last name). They had at least 3 children I found noted on a family record document. Unfortunately, it is not completly intact as parts are missing. I was able to determine their oldest was Martha Emma Hoops b. 10 May 1847 in Pennsylvania and another (name missing)b. 26 Jan 1848 in Pennsylvania and then Clara Adeline Hoopes b.17 Oct 1851 Pennsylvania.

From family records, and 80+ letters I have just been given by my mother dated 1870 to 1886 (some written by William C. Hoopes himself), I have been able to piece together Clara's history with my Gr-Gr- grandfather William B. Young.

I would like to find out more about Clara's parents and the Hoopes line. I have pictures of Clara and am working on transcribing the many letters of their courtship and early marriage years.

Her Children include Charles Leroy "Roy" Young b. 5 Aug 1891, and my Great-Grandmother Zella Mary Young-Wood and of course little Ethel Belle.

Any information regarding this Hoopes line would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance, Kelly
