Looking for Parley Hopkins

I'm looking for information on a Parley Hopkins, born in Rhode Island (abt. 1785) according to the 1880 census record of one of his sons. He was married to Sally Seamans (sp?) and they had many children, among them sons named Parley, Ezekiel, Joel & Ezra, and daughters Joanna & Hannah. I found them in most of the census records in Eaton, New York (Madison County), and I believe he's buried there in Old West Eaton Cemetery (thanks to rootsweb). What I'm really looking for is information on his parents since I've exhausted my detective skills back this far. I know there are tons of Hopkins in Rhode Island around the Revolutionary War, so I'm trying to decipher to which line he might be related to in Rhode Island.

Any assistance would be appreciated!

Tiffany
bridlesnbooks@earthlink.net

I am looking into my family history. I believe two female members emigrated to Australia early in the 20th century. Their names were Margaret Hopkins (Maggie) b. Llansamlet 18th May 1878 and Lavinia Hopkins b. Llansamlet 20th June 1883. They were two from a family of 14 siblings. Their parents were Evan (b.13 January 1847) and Catherine (b. 4th April 1851) Their last address in Wales possibly Llangeinor
Unfortunately I have no information on where they went in Australia or any significant information to add.
Does anyone have any knowledge of these ladies who would be great aunts of mine. Thankyou

Hi, I'm really hoping someone can help me out with some information here. My Grandad's mother, Margaret Majilton died shortly after he was born- so anytime from 1924 through to I'm guessing 1927? At her time of death, she was now Margaret Hopkins. We believe she had an argument with a friend who pushed her, and as she fell hit her head on the pavement and died. I've looked endlessly for her death certificate, even a birth certificate so that i can start researching the Majilton line of the family but to no avail. If this story or name means anything to you, please let me know.

Thank you

He was injured while loading 2,000 pound bombs into one the “Hells Angels” B-17 bombers, which led to his meeting of his loving wife, Lucy Tindal Gettins, a British Tech. Sergeant in the Ambulance Corps. John and Lucy married on Feb. 15, 1947.

John is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Lucy T.
I do not know these people. I read this in my newspaper this morning.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) -- Maudie White Hopkins, who grew up during the Depression in the hardscrabble Ozarks and married a Confederate army veteran 67 years her senior, has died. She was 93.

Hopkins, the mother of three children from a second marriage who loved to make fried peach pies and applesauce cakes, died Sunday at a hospital in Helena-West Helena, said Rodger Hooker of the Roller-Citizens Funeral Home.

Other Confederate widows are still living, but they don't want any publicity, Martha Boltz of the United Daughters of the Confederacy said Tuesday.

Hopkins grew up in a family of 10 children, did laundry and cleaned house for William M. Cantrell, an elderly Confederate veteran in Baxter County whose wife had died years earlier.

When he offered to leave his land and home to her if she would marry him and care for him in his later years, she said yes. She was 19; he was 86.

"After Mr. Cantrell died I took a little old mule he had and plowed me a vegetable garden and had plenty of vegetables to eat. It was hard times; you had to work to eat," she said in an Associated Press interview in 2004.

Hopkins later married Winfred White and started a family. In all, she was married four times.

For decades, she didn't speak about her marriage to Cantrell, concerned that people would think less of her. Four years ago, she came around after a Confederate widow in Alabama died amid claims that she was the last widow from that war.

"I didn't do anything wrong," Hopkins told the AP in 2004. "I've worked hard my whole life and did what I had to, what I could, to survive. I didn't want to talk about it for a while because I didn't want people to gossip about it. I didn't want people to make it out to be worse than it was."

Military records show Cantrell served in Company A, French's Battalion, of the Virginia Infantry. He enlisted in the Confederate army at age 16 in Pikeville, Ky., and was captured the same year and sent to a prison camp in Ohio. He was exchanged for a Northern prisoner, and after the war moved to Arkansas to live with relatives.

In the interview, Hopkins referred to her first husband as "Mr. Cantrell" and described him as "a good, clean, respectable man." She recalled one description he gave of life as a Civil War soldier, how lice infested his sock supports and "ate a trail around his legs."

Baxter County records show they were married in January 1934 by a justice of the peace. She said Cantrell supported her with his Confederate pension of "$25 every two or three months" and left her his home when he died in 1937.

The pension benefits ended at Cantrell's death, according to records filed with the state Pension Board.

She is survived by two daughters and a son.

Stephen of Declaration of Independence - related to Mayflower family?

I have always wondered if the Stephen Hopkins who signed the Declaration of Independence was related to the Mayflower family. Is there any evidence to support that? I myself and directly related to Mayflower Hopkins but wondereed about this other Hopkins from Rhode Island - I believe he was also governor of Rhode Island. And from what I remember learning in middle school, the history books portrayed Stephen Hopkins who signed Declaration of Independence as being a bit of a drunk holding his beer mug!

In the "Hopkins of VA and Related Familes" book, it states that Mr.
Walter E. Hopkins of Kingsville TX (as of 1929) owned a copy of a letter
written by Eli Hopkins, son of Liles Hopkins, to his uncle John Hopkins,
telling John of the death of his (John's) son William B. Hopkins; also a
letter written by Eli Hopkins, naming the foregoing as his uncles and
saying that their father and his father's (Liles) father was Joseph Hopkins.

Does anyone have a copy of this letter, or know where it can be
obtained? Also mentioned (ca 1929) was a Mrs V.C. Wells of Murray, KY,
and Minnie Lee Hopkins Canary of Springfield, Mo. as a possible source
of information.

Tabitha Hopkins, said to be a daughter of Joseph H. Hopkins, married 1)
Benjamin Purdom, d. abt 1811 Rowan NC, married 2) Dr. John K. Wells.
Tabitha is my gggg-grandmother, through her Purdom children. Tabitha
died abt 1851 Calloway Co, KY.
Hopkins/Purdom families in Warren Co, TN., and Calloway Co, KY. Joseph
Hopkins probably from Stokes or Chowan NC.
My line of the Purdom's came to Saline Co, IL in the late 1800's.

I would love to have a copy of this letter - any help out there?
Bonnie
William & Archibald Hopkins & Elizabeth (Hopkins) Lawtridge siblings, Albany Co NY bef 1750

Seeking exchange with Hopkins researcher of the above three, & associated families. I have a Sussex Co, DE land deed dated 20 Dec. 1745 in which the above three ("all of Albany Co, NY" per language in the deed) sell the land (purchased by their Father John, of Sussex Co DE) to Archibald Hopkins, also of Sussex Co, DE. Of the options, the best one (it seems to me) is that the above three were adult children who stayed behind in Albany Co, NY when their Father (John) emigrated to Sussex Co DE. Their Father John Hopkins, purchased the Sussex Co land on 9 Aug 1739. There is a (long reach ?) possibility that at least 3 brothers (John, see above; Archibald & Samuel)my have emigrated together or nearly simultaneously, from Albany Co NY to Sussex Co DE. The spouse of Elizabeth (Hopkins) Lawtridge was Robert. Thanks for your interest.
Truman Hopkins / Lydia Sweet NY/PA early/mid 18XX
The Search for an Ancestor

Despite many years of research by many descendants, Truman Hopkins (1814-1891) remains an enigma0. This paper will describe what we know about Truman and his family and pose questions and conjectures for further research.

Vital Statistics
Name: Truman Hopkins
Date and Place of Birth: March 5, 1814 , Otsego County, New York
Date and Place of Death: February 20, 1891, Crawford County, Pennsylvania
Married: Lydia Ann Sweet, November 1837 in Virgil, Cortland County, NY
Children: Sophronia (1842), Charles (1843), and Leroy (1844)
Civil War Veteran: Private, Company I, 150th Pennsylvania Volunteers.
Description: Height: 5’8”, blue eyes, black hair, and dark complexion
Occupation: variously described as a farmer, laborer, stone mason

Birth and Early Life

We do not know who Truman’s parents are. That is our number 1 mystery! From his Certificate of Discharge from the Army, we do know he was born in Otsego County, NY. From his tombstone we know he was born March 5,1814. We have no further information on Truman until his marriage.

Marriage

An 1891 affidavit by Frederick B. Sweet (part of Truman’s pension papers) provides information on the marriage of Truman to Lydia Ann Sweet. F. B. Sweet notes that he was a witness at the marriage, which was held in the middle of November 1837, at the home of Thomas Sweet in the town of Virgil, Cortland County, NY. Another pension paper, a Declaration for Widow’s Pension, signed by Lydia in November 1891, gives the date as November 15, 1837.

Census Records and Early Migration

There is a Truman Hopkins listed in the 1840 census from Locke, Cayuga Co., NY. An obituary of their daughter, Sophronia, indicates she was born in Cayuga Co., NY in 1842, and moved shortly thereafter to Tioga Co, PA, where she lived until she was married in 1858.

The next child, Charles, was born in 1843 in Tioga Co. PA. The youngest son, Leroy was born in New York the next year.

The 1850 census has the family back in Cayuga Co NY – in Scipio this time. Truman is listed as a laborer age 34 (implying a birth date about 1816); Lydia is 32. Sophronia is listed as 9, born in NY, Charles, 7, born in Pa and Leroy, 5, born in NY.

Thus the family appears to have been in PA only for about two years between 1842 and 1845. However, at some time between 1850 and 1860, they return to PA.

The 1860 census puts Truman in Chatham Township, Tioga Co, PA. It lists Truman as being 43 (implying a birth date of 1816 or 1817) and Lydia as 42 (birth in 1817 or 1818). It notes that Sophronia was 17 and born in NY, Charles 17 and born in PA, and Leroy 15, born in NY.

Civil War Service

By 1862 Truman and families had relocated to Crawford Co., PA. At the end of August 1862 he enlisted at Titusville, PA in Company I, 150th Pennsylvania Volunteers (Bucktails). His son Charles enlisted in the same unit at about the same time. Truman’s son-in-law, John B Sweet also was in the same unit (I do not know when he enlisted).

Truman’s army career was short, and apparently not pleasant. He was given a disability discharge after only three months, on November 21, 1862 from Columbia Hospital, Washington, D.C. He had been unfit for duty the entire previous two months, suffering from chronic diarrhea and rheumatism.

Truman’s pension papers tell a story of continued health difficulties. See below.

On to Michigan… and back

The 1870 census lists Truman, Charles and family, and John B. Sweet as living in Livingston Co. Michigan. The Hopkins family, listed as one household, as follows: Truman Hopkins 53, day laborer, Lydia, 52, Charles 27, day laborer, Amanda 23, Sophronia 3, born in PA, Herbert 2, born in PA, Samuel 5/12 born in Michigan. From other information we know that Herbert was born March 26, 1868 and Samuel was born Nov 2, 1869: thus the move to Michigan must have occurred between March 1868 and Nov 1869. Also, once again, Truman appears to have been born in 1816 or 1817, and Lydia in 1818. The family was living in Marion Township.

The John B Sweet family was in neighboring Genoa Township. In the family was Nellie, born in July 1869 in Michigan.

In the 1880 census for Rome Township, Crawford Co., Pa. Lydia A. is listed in Charles’ household. She is listed as his Mother, aged 64. Truman is not listed with the household.

Pension Documents

The Pension file for Truman contains a variety of official documents and affidavits by Truman, Lydia, and others. Some of these are reproduced in the appendix. Among these are his Certificate of Discharge from the Army, a pension document dated 1891 granting him a $4/month pension effective 1886, and a transcript of Truman’s affidavit of August 1891. From the various other affidavits we learn:

·	Johnson Bixby stated in Nov 1890 that he has known Truman, who was a stone mason, since 1859; that since his discharge Truman has been able to perform only ¼ the work of a sound man; that Truman’s disability has now left him weak and unable to work; that his rheumatism has left him “drawn more than half over” and not able to walk around or leave the house.

·	Henry B. Odell prepared an “Affidavit of Officer or Comrade” in June 1889, and notes that “From hardships and exposure incident to the service” Truman contracted his illnesses. He also says Truman was lame. Odell was in the same Company as Truman.

·	A September 1890 affidavit from Ira Fish notes that he has known Truman, described as a laborer, since 1860; that Truman was lame and had to use a cane, having great trouble with his feet; that Truman could not eat anything but light food; that Truman could perform no more than ¼ the work of an able-bodied man.

After Truman’s death Lydia applied for a widow’s pension under the Act of 1890. We have her declaration, dated Nov 14, 1891, which she signed with an “X.” It is attested to by John B. Sweet. Other papers include an affidavit by John B Sweet, undated but probably from a “second round” of paper work for the widow’s pension. John says he is 53 years old and has known Lydia “ for the last 40 years.” This implies that he knew her when he was about 13 and when Lydia was still living in Tioga Co. He says that “she has no property and no means of support only her daily labor and she is so aged that she cannot do much at that and has no home of her own to stop at and has to depend on friends for her support.” Another affidavit by Robert Rendall and William Chase is witnessed by one C. W. Hopkins… Charles ?

The final document of interest in the file is an October 1891 statement by Frederick B. Sweet that he was at the wedding of Truman and Lydia “about the middle of Nov 1837 at the residence of Thomas Sweet in the town of Virgil, Cortland Co., NY” The statement was made in Summit Township, Potter Co., Pa

Death and Burial
This obituary appeared in (probably) the Titusville Herald near the end of February 1891.

Truman was buried in the English Settlement Cemetery (also known as the Maple Grove, Harrison or Morris Cemetery), which was the family cemetery of his son Leroy’s wife’s family. After her death, Lydia was also buried there. (Their son Charles and his wife Amanda, and their son Samuel C. and his wife Effie Ann, are also buried there.)

This link will show an aerial photograph of the cemetery; it is the round grove of trees in the bottom right corner. http://terraserver.homeadvisor.msn.com/image.asp?S=12&T=...

When Lydia died in 1895, the following appeared in the (Titusville?) paper:
“Died on May 21st. Lydia A. Hopkins, aged 79 years and 20 days. She leaves three children Charles and Leroy Hopkins and Mrs. J. B. Sweet.”

Another line item in the same paper notes: “Juid Sweet of Little Cooley was in the vicinity on last Saturday, called here to attend his sister’s funeral.”

The Sweet Connection

Lydia is as much of an enigma as Truman. Who were her parents? We know that Truman and Lydia were married at the home of Thomas Sweet, and the Frederick B. Sweet was a witness. We know that Lydia has a brother named “Juid”… or is that Jude? We also know his daughter Sophronia married a John B Sweet in 1858, who knew the family when he was just a youth. We know that John B. was born in Tioga Co. We know that Truman, Charles, and John B. were in the same Civil War unit and then moved to Michigan together, and that all returned to Crawford Co., Pa. We know that Truman’s next-door neighbor in 1860 in Chatham Township were Ambrose (aged 36) and Maria Sweet.

So, consider the following…

The following Sweets were listed in the 1850 census for Chatham Township, Tioga Co PA.

Thomas, aged 65, born, NY
Lydia, 63, NY
Abner, 21, NY

Jude Sweet, 29, NY
Maria, 24, PA
Phila, 3, PA
Martha, 4, PA

A.M. Sweet, 27, NY
Maria, 25, NY

Charles Sweet, 27, NY
Susan, 25, NY
Jude, 1, PA
Abner, 3, PA

Also, from the Livingston Co., Michigan land records, as published by the Livingston Co. Genealogy Society….

·	John B., wife Sophronia A. Sweet buy land in section 6,Genoa, Nov 2, 1867; sells in 1872
·	Ambrose M, wife Maria Sweet buy land in Sec 36,Genoa, sell in 1872
·	Cyrus S. Sweet buys land in section 8, Oct 29, 1870; sells in 1875
·	Henry J Sweet, buys land in section 8, Oct 29, 1870Cyrus
·	Newberry C. Sweet buys land in section 8, Genoa, June 23,1865, of Raine, Crawford Co. Pa. Deceased in 1874; land sold in 1875; heirs include John B., Henry J., Cyrus S.

Other sources indicate that Newberry C. (born ~1813) and Ambrose M. are brothers; their father was John Sweet (1769-1825) of Middlebury, Tioga Co., Pa., and that John B. was the son of Newberry.

Avenues for Further Research

Other than hoping to find another descendant who already knows more about Truman and his parents, there are very few avenues that suggest themselves for immediate research into Truman and his ancestors. One that does is the purported location of his birth: Otsego Co, NY. There are several Hopkins families in the area at the right time, including Duty Hopkins, Oliver Hopkins, and Gardner Hopkins, as well as several researchers studying them.

Lydia offers more hope. Frederick B, Thomas, and Juid all provide places to look. Can we find out any more about Frederick from census or other records? Can we connect any of the people in the 1850 Chatham Twsp census list? Is Juid really Jude? And can we find out more about him from census or other information?

Lydia’s father’s name might be Thomas. (She was married at his house.) Is this the Thomas noted in the 1850 Tioga Co. census, whose wife was Lydia? Is Frederick B. her brother? Is the Newberry -> John B. clan related?

Appendix 1 Pension papers
Affidavit of Truman Hopkins dated August 21, 1889

State of Pennsylvania. County of Crawford. S.S.
In the matter of Truman Hopkins, Pension Claim No. 582646 for Orig Pension.

On this twenty first day of August A.D. 1889 personally appeared before me a Notary Public in and for the aforesaid County, duly authorized to administer oaths, the claimant, a resident of Rome township, Crawford County and State of Pennsylvania whose Post Office address is Vrooman, Crawford County, Penna who being duly sworn declares in relation to his claim as aforesaid as follows.

That he has resided in Rome township, Crawford Co, State of Pennsylvania for over twenty nine years past Continuously and he has been employed in doing light work such as his physical condition would permit since his discharge from the Military Service of the U.S. of A up to the month of August A.D. 1888. Since which time he has not been able to do labor of any kind. In the month of September A.D. 1862 while with his Co.& Reg at {Meridian} Hill at or near Washington City D.C. he was attacked with chronic diarrhea and was sent to Columbia College Hospital Washington D.C. after being treated in camp by the Regimental Surgeon. Dr. Moxley treated the claimant while in the hospital. The physicians who has treated the claimant since his discharge have been Drs. {Saly} Bixby, Adam P and Jason Ward, Hopkins and James L. Dunn. The only physicians now living of those named are Hopkins and Dunn and the affiant has no knowledge of the location of Dr. Hopkins. Dr. James L. Dunn resides in Titusville, Pa. From the effects of the diseases (chronic diarrhea) the mind of the affiant has been so impaired that he cannot give dates as to treatments by physicians. Nor can he state the periods of time in which he has been compelled to desist from labor by reasons of his disability.

signed by
Truman Hopkins

pro forma statement by Notary Public
Joseph Chase
21 August 1889

Pension Document from 1891

Truman’s Discharge from the Army

Appendix 2: Other “Trumans”

To help us find “our” Truman it is helpful to know a bit about other people with that same name who lived about the same time in the general area. To do this, we can look at census reports, check war records, and find other family trees

The following chart shows other Trumans as noted in the New York and Connecticut Censuses in the early 1800s.

1810	1820	1830	1840	1850	1860
Truman	CornwallLitchfield CoCT.
Truman PotsdamSt. Lawrence Co.NY	CantonSt. Lawrence Co.NY
Truman New Haven, CT	New Haven, CT
Truman Ontario, Wayne Co.NY
Truman ExeterOtsego Co.NY

We also know of at least one Truman who served in the war of 1812 in New York (clearly not “ours” since he was not born yet!) There are actually two records; I do not know if it is one person in two regiments (as often happened in that war – different time periods), or two separate people:

Truman Hopkins, a private in Benedict’s Regiment, New York Militia
Truman Hopkins, a private in Capt’s Parkil’s Co., New York Vols.

Finally from various sources (Mormon records, World Family Tree CDs, etc.) we know of several Trumans:

Truman (b. 1793 in Rutland Vt), son of John Hopkins (1764-1832) and Hannah Mead, married Laura Rice in 1819 in Potsdam, NY. This is undoubtedly the second Truman in the census chart. He had a grandson named Truman Mead Hopkins, born in 1841.
Truman, born 1805, Waterbury, New Haven, CT, son of David Hopkins and Mary Thompson. He may have married Julia Martin. He is probably the third Truman in the Census chart.

Truman, son of John Hopkins (1755-1835) and Azubah Howell, of NJ and later Palmyra, Wayne Co. NY.

Truman #4 of the census chart may actually have been “Freeman,” with whoever transcribed the pages into the index on the CD making an error.

Finally, there are records of a Truman, born 1784 in Litchfield CT., son of Josiah Hopkins and Rachel Dibble. The first Truman in the above chart was listed on the same page of the 1810 census as Josiah and two other of his sons. Most records of Josiah do not list a son Truman, but do list a son Freeman – two names which when written in script look very much alike, as noted above! Josiah also had sons named Heman and Luman. Josiah is a descendant of the Mayflower’s Stephen Hopkins. There has been some family speculation that this Truman is actually the father of our Truman, but I know of no evidence.
Arthur W. Hopkins and Daughter Virginia of Worcester, MA

I am seeking more information on my great-great-grandfather Arthur W. Hopkins. I believe he was born in Massachusetts in 1886 and died in 1972, but I am not sure if this information is correct. He married Jeannette (I do not know her maiden name) who was born around 1893. The couple had a daughter my great grandmother Virginia Hopkins born Sept. 15, 1915 in Worcester, MA. I believe they had two other children Ralph L. Hopkins and Jeannette M. Hopkins. My great-grandmother married Robert Enman and died in Leicester, MA on July 3, 2000. All her life she claimed that her family was decadents of Stephen Hopkins who was a passenger on the Mayflower. I would like to trace the family history back to prove this; however I have no information beyond Arthur Hopkins. Anything known about preceding generations would be helpful.

-Jessica
Researching: Hopkins, Enman, Bové, and Zannotti

Eleanor, the twins and Eleanor's two children [Ambrose and Abby] are in town of Columbus, Chenango Co., NY.

In 1880 parents are by themselves in Preston, Fillmore Co., Minnesota, where Eleanor had lived in 1st marriage. Ambrose Williams is living nearby.

I'd like to find out what happened to Amelia and Adelia after 1870- presume they married and probably moved west too. Any leads appreciated - I'm tracking down these Carncross women as best I can.

One of my Tedder's fom Wilkes NC married a Hopkins. This is my cousin Nancy's direct line. She said the family history about her Hopkins was that they were wanted by the law and Changed their name. Their original name was Plaster and they chaned it to Hopkins.
Dave Hopkins, guard at Chickasha, Oklahoma jail
Appears in "The Wapanucka Press" 27 October 1904, Wapanucka, Johnston County, Indian Territory, now Oklahoma

ATTEMPTED ESCAPE

Prisoners at Chickasha Failed in an Effort to Secure Liberty

Chickasha: The prisoners in the United States jail here made an attempt to escape and Tom Boswell, under sentence of horse stealing was fatally shot.

There were about fifteen prisoners in the jail, and Deputy Marshal Madsen was soon to start for Fort Leavenworth with them. Three guards, Dave Hopkins, Luther Smith and J. P. Ellis, were on duty.

Frank Goins, a prisoner, asked permission of Hopkins to go for a bucket of water and as he passed the guard turned and pinioned him from behind. At the same time Will Dunn, another prisoner, who was in the corridor, had secured permission from Smith to do some sweeping. With the broom he attached Smith, and at the same moment Boswell escaped through the door and was about to attack Ellis. The plan evidently was to seize the guards, secure their arms and permit all the prisoners to escape.

When Boswell was within five feet of Ellis, the latter fired. The bullet penetrated the skull of Boswell. Ellis fired a second time at one of the other prisoners, but the shot took effect in Boswell’s ear. Meanwhile Hopkins had struggled with Goins and shot him at him. Goins was not hit. The prisoners all went back to their cells. There is no hope for the recovery of Boswell.

Goins is under a sentence of a year for cattle stealing and Dunn is to serve three years for embezzlement.

I'm looking for any information on Pearl E. Hopkins. She was married twice, first to Marmaduke (Stephen) Laird and then to Alfred/Arthur Turner. She was born in Arkansas on 4 Aug 1887 and died in Phoenix, Arizona 15 Jun 1966. Pearl was my great grandmother and of everyone I've searched for, she is the last to be found. Pearl had 4 children with Marmaduke, they resided in Truckee, CA until the early 20's when they returned to Phoenix and got a divorce. Pearl married Mr. Turner when the kids were teenagers and together they ran a restaurant. If anyone has any info on Pearl, I would greatly love to hear from you.
Thanks in advance,
Karen O.

John HOPKINS: Ireland > Scranton, PA,

I am looking for the family of John and Mary Hopkins. Here is what I know...

According to the 1920 Census in Scranton, PA:
John and Mary (both born abt 1885)came over from Ireland around 1907. Together they had 2 children as of 1920. They were Mary (my grandmother, married Charles Wedlock, originally of Scotland) and Francis.

According to the 1930 Census in Scranton, PA:
John is now married to his second wife, Beatrice. It lists Mary(age 15) and Francis(age12), and adds their siblings Joseph(age 8), Anna (age 4), and Paul (age 2).

According to my mother, there was a third wife as well. From what I understand, he outlived all 3 wives, but I have no date of death for him.

My grandmother Mary Hopkins Wedlock passed on 1 AUG 2001. Her remaining sibling was Francis Hopkins who passed recently (exact date unknown) with full military honors at Arlington Cemetery.

If anyone can help me trace this back further, it would really be appreciated.
