HI Pauline , I have been directed to contact you by a fellow researcher regarding Sarah Fosbrook and William Hopkinson (my gx5 grandparents) I have a few questions and was told you would be able to help me, I thought we could share tree info?? My email is medic4911@iprimus.com.au. I think I could be interested in any connections you may have to the HOUGH name. I have a varied tree and researching another line I found my Hough's, from Goosnargh area, hooked up to the Seed/Seeds name. Back to my connection to William and Sarah, I am the (gx4) grandaughter of Jane Hopkinson, their daughter. Hope I have made enough connections to your tree to hear from you soon, thank you for your time, (sorry I had no input to your actual post.......) Amanda

Thank you so much for updating some blanks. I never new about the infant who died, until I saw info sent from another "cousin". Don't even know if my mother knew. I will ck the marriage date, what I have is hand written by my grandfather on my father's side. I will forward your info and questions to my brother, Richard as he is who is the keeper of the stats. I am married (32 years this month), and have 4 sons, 1 daughter. The oldest son is my stepson from my husband's first marriage. My daughter was born before I was married and given up for adoption (against my will, @ 17)so she would probably really like to know her heritage. You are so fortunate to still be in the area of your ancestry. My father moved our family to CA in 1956. My mom (Francis Hopkinson Gilpin Robinson) died in 1960. I am so sorry that you recently lost your father. I know how horrible that feels. Both of my parents as well as my step mom passed several years ago. I will add your contact info to my msn.com contacts. My home e-mail is mollymathis_51@msn.com. Sometimes when I see such huge families, I wonder why they never stay in touch. Thanks again for the info. Molly

Re: Relative of Francis Hopkinson

Hi Molly. I'm Sally Hopkinson. Oliver & Eliza Swaim Hopkinson are my great-great grandparents as well. Which makes us 3rd cousins. I am descended through their son, Edward, born 11 Nov 1850, and Abbie Woodruff Dale, born 17 May 1858; married 11 Nov 1884.

They had 2 sons: Richard Dale & Edward Jr (my grandfather) born 29 Sep 1885, died 6 Apr 1966. He married 1st: May Theresa Sullivan (born 17 May 1885, died 20 Feb 1925) on 9 Oct 1911.

My father, James Paul Hopkinson (their 6th child) was born 7 Feb 1925, died 28 Mar 2009) married 1st, Charlotte Evelyn Wilkinson (born 10 Mar 1924, died 23 Nov 2005) on 8 Nov 1947

They had 4 children: my 2 older brothers, James Jr & David, myself (officially, Sarah Jane) & my younger sister, Maryann. I'm not married & I have no children.

I saw your post with your lineage & I had a few questions:
1) I had found in a New York Times archive your parents marriage listed as Jan 20, 1943, but I will assume that you know your parents wedding date better than the NY Times.

2) I have info that Francis Hopkinson Gilpin & Elizabeth Ballister Bates also had a daughter, Elisabeth Ballister Gilpin, born 6 Jun 1916 & died 8 Jun 1916. Can you verify this?

A few answers to some of your missing info:
1) Francis's grandfather, Thomas Hopkinson married Mary Nichols
2) I have their son, Thomas, DOD 5 Nov 1751
3) Francis, the Declaration of Independence signer: DOB 21 Sep 1737, DOD 9 May 1791

Hope this helps your research.

Feel free to contact me off site @ sallyhop1@msn.com
FYI: I live in Quakertown, PA (suburb of Philadelphia)

The Wright Hopkinson I have was born here, in N. Andover in 1909 and had a sister. Do we have a connection? His Father was George, and his father was Wright also, whom married Mary Boulton and had a few children. You won't find much after 1975, as that is my generation of the family line.

Sharon

I've posted my family tree on Ancestry under the title of Hopkinson/Sullivan/Wilkinson/ McKinney Family. I know you have also heard from Patty Hopkinson. The info on her website is pretty much the same as mine.
Most of my information came from my grandfather, Edward Jr., who had a professional do the research in the 1930's. I can get the line back 3 generations back from Joseph.

I have prepared a word document that shows the known descendants of this line.
Re: Hopkinson Trimbath

Those two people are my great-grandparents. My sister replied to you earlier and as far as I know here is the chain from Arthur Trimbath's line. There were five children (not sure of birth order) one son Donald Leroy, and four daughters Dorothy, Ruth, Francis, and Betty. Donald Leroy Trimbath Sr. is my grandfather. He married Martha Makowka and they had three sons, William, Donald Leroy Jr., and Thomas. (Martha passed away in 1999 and Donald Sr. has since remarried in 2003.) William married Karen Kelly and they had one son, William Warren Trimbath. Donald Leroy Trimbath Jr. is my father. He married Gail Myra Skerlec, and they had three children, Anna Rosamund Trimbath, Kate Elizabeth Trimbath, and Roger Edmund Trimbath. Thomas Trimbath is unmarried without kids. As for the other children of Arthur Trimbath, I know that Aunt Ruth has passed away as of 2007. Members of this family are spread throughout the United States. I hope that helps in your search.

Gary,
I ran across your message, I see it is a few years old. I am a direct decendant of Edward, Richard's brother. The only information I had was that Thomas Hopkinson b 16, Mar 1745 married Peggy Browne who died Apr 1775, then married Alice Rothwell in Sep 1779. I have always assumed that Alice was the mother of all the children. I do not believe that Thomas and Peggy had any children before she died.

I also show that there was a Richard who was born 13 May 1796 and died as an infant. Another Richard (possibly your ancestor) was born following year Oct 1797. I had no further information on Richard as to whom he married or any further decendants of his.

Please feel free to email me if you can shed some light, or let me know if you have a public profile you would care to share.
Thank you!
Kim

I have traced back to James Hopkinson born in 1825/6 a stonemason who married Ann Moore in 1847 in Bury. James father was William another stonemason and he I believe married Sarah. William was born about 1801 in Walmsley. Has anyone traced further back?

Hi Jeff,
Anne Hole is the younger sister of my ggggrandfather, James Hole. He came to America in 1832 and settled in New York. He had 6 children but only two of them had children of their own. They settled in the Minnesota and North Dakota areas. James, brother of Anne is buried in the Holes family plot in St. Cloud, MN. (He changed his name to HOLES after coming to America)
I have more information on all of his descendents and would be happy to share it. they would of course all be cousins to any descendents of Thomas Hopkinson and Anne Hole.
I would love to hear more about their descendents as they would be cousins to me. I was able to track them to the Toronto area but did not know that they had children.
You may contact me off list at toddholes@comcast.net

Thanks,
Todd
