2. Thomas b abt 1770 in Caroline Co marr Sarah Elizabeth Turner dau of George Turner Jr. & Ann Madison. Need parents & siblings for Thomas. Have the following children for him & Sarah:

This question has been raised previously on this thread; however, it may have been asked incorrectly.

"In Rev. A. H. Hord's book 'Genealogy of the Hord Family' (1898) pg. 25 he states that "Baptized, Jan. 19th, 1664, John Hoord, son of Edmund Hord. John, born Dec. 29th. He came to Virginia, 1685, and was the ancestor of the Hords of America." He did not indicate who Edmund's parents were. I've seen some uploaded gedcoms list Thomas Hord or John Hord; however, I can find no source to substantiate these claims.

Please help---Hord Cemetery in Christian Co, Ky.

Due to the ice storm this winter, so many limbs have broken off some of the big trees.

The people who's property this cemetery sits on have picked them up and put them in a huge pile. Some are covering tombstones. I understand from a neighbor they plan to remove them. They keep the cemetery mowed. If it were not for this family we would have lost this cemetery to neglect.

I think it would be a nice gesture to donate some money for their efforts.

If you can help, email me privately and I will give you my snail mail address. It does not have to be a big donation---anything will help.

Some of the surnames of people buried there are-Meacham, Fritz, Cavanah, Latham, King, Hammond, Barnes, Myers, Negley, and Hord.

I believe that the Elizabeth on the 1860 census is his 2nd wife Elizabeth, whom he married in 1855. I have just started researching this family and am looking for the parents of Josephus Hord b. 1858.

That Elizabeth was 28 yrs. old in 1860 - and my ancestor (her son - Robert Pinkney Pryor) was born in 1845, so doubtful that this is his mother, as she would have only been 13 years old when she had him. Also - no Pryor children are in that household, and no one named Robert. I think the Elizabeth Hord you have may be a different one? I'd love to hear your thoughts...

A researcher by the name of Sid Fisher contacted me in regards to my last post, but all my e-mails to him are returned as undeliverable. He asked for additional ifnromation regarding Elizabeth Hord's parents, and here it is:

To this date, I have been unable to verify the parents of Elizabeth Hord. Her name comes from Robert Pinkney Pryor’s death certificate where she is listed as his mother, and John Pryor as his father. On this document, both parents are listed as being born in NC, while in some census documents Robert Pinkney Pryor is listed as being born in either VA or NC.

To complicate the situation, Robert Pinkney Pryor married Rebecca Suzanne Cabaniss (B. 1845, D. before 1925 in SC), daughter of a Susannah Hord (B. circa 1808 in VA, D. After 1880), whose parents were James Hord and Martha Pryor. I suspect since these families are so intertwined that Susannah and Elizabeth were related.

Do any of these names or dates work into your research?

I am searching for information on Elizabeth Hord Pryor. She was married to John Pryor. Both would have been born somewhere abour 1820 +/- 10 years, in either NC or VA. I have no additional information on them and have not been able to locate them in the 1850 or 1860 census.

They had a son named Robert Pinkney Pryor,born in 1845 in either VA or NC. He married Rebecca Suzanne Cabaniss. They had seven children: Lemuel, George B, Melvin, Cora, Emily, Minnie Lee and Jesse H. This family lived in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Any info is great... I have info on John and Cora Belle Hord, married in 1927 around Richard, or Mullingar, SK. His father is Peter Hord... not much info on him. John passed away when Cora Belle was only 28, so she remarried, we have no idea to who or where she went.

where was this judy ann from? i am searching for Hord's as well. My greatgrandfather (joh Hord) passed away in the 50's and his wife married someone else (MAYBE his brother Klass/Klaus Hord) she had another 8 children with him.

her name was Cora Belle Hord (nee Brown).

Other family names of our Hord's are John Hord, and Peter Hord. We are searching for a Klauss Hord, as my grandfather and his sister's heard this name alot growing up but did now know who he was.

I am trying to trace some of the Hord's that came to canada (Saskatewan) from Minnesota... we are not too sure of where in Minnesota, but if you could give me some names of family you have met.

Or if you could ask them if they have heard of a Peter Hord, born in Sweden and immigrated to Minnisota, he had a son John Hord (and maybe a Klass Hord). John Hord was born in 1883 and lived in minnesota, moved to sask.

I am hitting some dead walls, but I would appreciate if you could help... or even try!!

I am looking for information about the Hord Family from Kings Mountain, NC. According to the 1860 Census, Jessy Hord (from Virginia) had 10 children...not mention of a wife (died??). Joseph Hord (Joe S.) is my g-grandfather. Anyone have knowledge of Jessy and his parents in VA?

According to the 1860 census...Elizabeth's father was Jessy (or Jessie) Hord. There is no mention of a wife, perhaps she died??? He had 10 children listed, one of whom is Elizabeth. Joseph, 3 at the time, is my g-grandfather. It looks like Joe S. Hord (who married Fannie H.) stayed in Kings Mountain, NC.

Did you ever find out about their mother? I can't find anything. There was an infant listed in the census, perhaps she died in child birth.

I need more information about Jessy Hord. I belive he was from Virginia?? Do you have any knowledge of Jessy? t_osburne@yahoo.com .

One census says he was born in KY. His children were: James C. b 1872, Claribel b 1878, and Frances b 1881. Does anyone know anything about these Hords?

I know this is an old post but I would like to exchange information if you are willing. I am descended from Andrew Jackson who was the brother of Strother and son of Nathaniel Hord. I am trying to fill in all the collateral lines that I can find. I lost track of Strother and am glad to finally know where he went to. Andrew Jackson moved to Shelby County , Illinois after the Civil War. He served I believe as did his sons Eugene and Luzerne. I went to Rockingham County, Va. to research Nathaniel and his father Peter. I have a little documentation, I believe Nathaniel's marriage to Mary (Grace) Gilmore. Some land information. Found nothing on Peter. With him dying in 1818 or before the looking was difficult. I'd like to reurn and spend a few days locating what ever I can find.

Joseph Franklin Hord was my Father's Grandfather, and I too am looking for him. He and Angie had 3 children born who were born in Clinton, MO (Orbie, Carl, and Earl). My father Bruce is the second son of Earl. I was born and raised in Clinton, as was my father (who still lives there). We have pictures of Angie (his grandmother) and of Joe's parents (Anilious Josephus and Sarah Hord), but no history of Joe. Would love to find proof of what happened to him. Would enjoy any info you might have (or might later find). Let me know if I can help.

trying to make connection of william hord- nancy ann gibbons noticed siddes saying related to william and nancy and would like to know their marriage date, children info. my line is in hawkins co. tn. thomas hord b.about 1805. I am finding conflicting info. Did william have 2 marriage? My info. shows william marrying ann in 1796 and their will showing eldridge, stanwix, thomas, william and lucretia as children and other sources showing him having george b. 1795, william b. 1791, ambrose b. b. 1797 and James m. b. 1805. can anyone help me with this. thanks

I am searching a Joseph Frank Hord who was married in 1892 in Clinton, MO to Angie Anderson. He up and left before the 1910 Census. I am seeing a 1910 Census with a Joe and Dollie. It shows that they have only been married 3 years and it is both's 2nd marriage. Is this possible part of your family?
