I am trying to research my ancestors but am pretty new to this. My Grandfather's name was Rice Con Hornbeak and I believe he was related to a guy who owned a saw mill in (what else but) Hornbeak, TN. His wife's name is Martha Hornbeak. Martha and Rice lived in Miami for awhile and I know they also lived in Alabama. Rice supposedly had Cherokee blood as either his mother or grandmother was a Cherokee Squaw. My father (Phillip Robert Hornbeak) also mentioned that the name Hornbeak originally came from Holland. (?) If anyone could give me anymore clues to our background I would appreciate it. My Aunt (Charlotte had the Hornbeak family tree researched) - I think I'll try to get a copy when I go visit...
