I would like to correspond with anyone interested in the HORNER Families of Virginia who were in Frederick, Shenandoah, Albemarle, Amherst, Augusta and Nelson Counties.
Specifically, I am working on the ancestry of James HORNER who md. Elizabeth BERRY, dau. of Bradley BERRY, in Albemarle Co. ca. the late 1700's. He lived in Albemarle, Amherst and Augusta Cos., VA and died intestate in the latter county ca. 1807-08 leaving at least one Lot in the town of Waynesboro,
Augusta Co., VA.
There were other HORNERs in Albemarle Co., VA when James HORNER md. Elizabeth BERRY. They came there in the 1790's from WHERE? There were HORNER families in Frederick and Shenandoah Cos. before that time. Were they related to the ones in Albemarle Co.?
I know that this James HORNER had at least one son named Isham HORNER who died sometime between 1823-1832. Isham had land in Waynesboro, Augusta Co., VA which he evidently inherited from his father. Isham had only half of the Waynesboro land, so I believe that he may have had a brother. When Isham received this land, it was said that he lived in Rockingham Co.. I could find no HORNERs in Rockingham Co. during those dates, so he must have been living with relatives with a different last name.....WHAT?
Is anyone else working on this family?
