Michelle, I live in Seymour and am related to the Taskey's, and though I don't have the info directly for the Hornings on my tree, I do show James married to Sophia Taskey with 2 children--not much detail on them (yet)though.

Is there something here you would like for me to look up for you? There is a good selection of genealogical materials at our local library as well as a free genealogical society library I have access to. Let me know if I can help.

 Hi

I was wondering if you knew if a William Erning came to Australia for any time in the late 1800's. I have a William Erning as a great great grandfather who is a complete mystery. I cannot find his entry into the country on any shipping records and on his marriage certificate (1885)there are no details at all except his occupations was painter. He and my great great grandmother obviously did not stay together as she lived with another man for the rest of her life (died age 64 in 1924) and had a further 6 children. I cannot find any information at all about William Erning except a family story relates that my great grandmother was attempted to be kidnapped by her father and that he was from USA.

Any information would be most helpful.

Regards

Ann Sunshine

Hornings in Wisconsin

I come to a dead end when trying to locate info on my great grandfather Christian Horning (1849-1811). His wife's name was Matilda. They lived in Pewaukee, Wisconsin and had 6 kids (Mary, Arthur, Edward, Maud, Harry and Fred).

Harry (1886 - ?) went out west in the early 1900's. He wrote letters for a few years and then stopped. We assumed he was killed, but I just found several links to him in the 1940's in Sacramento, Oroville and San Joaquin, CA. Has anyone ever heard of him or his family?

This is a very large cemetary, there is a possibility there could be other family members buried here after this time period. If you are interested in them, I can look for them specifically.

I am searching for George Horning, br abt 1827 in Bavaria. He married Margaret Bobser (not sure on that spelling) in the late 1840's, and immigrated to the US in the early 1850's. I know that they had a child in Pennsylvania, and a couple children in Illinois before coming to Wisconsin bet 1857-1859.

George died between 1860-1864.

His children were: Ellen, Catherine, Christian, John, Josephine, Caroline, George and Mary.

Margaret remarried Henry Laedeke soon afterwards, and had 3 more children with him.

Please contact me if you can help fill in any of my blanks.

I was trying to find John Hornung, b 1840-1 in KY, son of Margaret and Georg - brother to Jacob and Margaret born in MO. I was hoping he was the John Horning that had Civil War pension records - and it wasn't mine. Though at the bottom they had the following information so hopefully it will help someone else.

they did locate a pension application SC 739714 for a soldier named John Horning who served in Co. F 1 Mo. Cav. S.M. for the Civil war. He was born Jan. 22, 1829 at Rothenburg, Germany and died March 25, 1917.
I recently bought a handsome photo of a gentleman taken by Proctor Photography located at 616 South 15th Street in Omaha, Nebraska. On the back written in pencil is Mrs. M.W. Horning 2566a Dodier. I believe this photo may be Matthias William Horning or Matthias William Horning. The Dodier address is in St. Louis, MO.

The photo shows a middle aged man with long sideburns, a dark mustache, and a cleft chin. He is wearing a shirt that clasps at the collar, a velvet jacket, an elaborate patterned tie, and a dark vest. The is a small gold button (stick pin?) and a long gold chain.

I would like to connect this photo with a family member or a family researcher. Please contact me directly if you have an interest in this photo.

Kathy Wieland in St. Louis, MO
Kathy@craftsbykathy.com
