Marion Marmaduke Hornsby

My great grandfather was Marion Marmaduke (Duke) Hornsby who married Mary Ann James in Elmore county, Alabama. Their daughter was my grandmother was Pearl Hornsby who married Robert Luther Cox and moved to Dothan from Tallassee, Alabama in the early 1900's.

I am looking for any information.

Hi Jennie, Sorry I do not have any info on your Father. Do you know who his Father was? I do have a Frederick James who was born abt 1904. As far as I know he had a Daughter, Gwendoline who was born about 1934. Could she be your Father's Sister?

Hi,
I'm trying to trace any information on my grandfather, Harry Hornsby. This may not have been his first name. My dad is reluctant to talk about any of his family, but there was apparently something strange about the way in which Harry died. He may have been living in the Birmingham area at the time, but I cannot be entirely sure. I would be grateful to anyone who coauld shed some sort of light on him and his family.

If it helps, he had two wives, Sue and Kath, and eight children between the two. My father is one of the two children from his first marriage. He is Christopher and his brother is Stephen, but this is all I know.

If you are still checking replies, I would like comparing notes on Henry B. Hornsby and wife Nancy Madden.

I'm especially interested to know if you have further information about a daughter Nancy Elizabeth Hornsby, born about 1844 in GA. and died 26 January 1925 in Randolph Co., AL. She married John Alton Causey on 11 March 1860 at or near Lagrange, Troup Co., GA.
Think there were at least seven (7) chidren, but only know of Richard Arch Causey, born 1876 Ashland, Clay Co., AL.
Can you help??

Suspect, but don't know if James M. Hornsby, born about 1835 in GA. was also a son of Henry B. Hornsby and wife Nancy Madden. Can you help?
James M. Hornsby married Susan Frances Causey on 23 March 1859 in Chambers Co., AL.
She, Susan Frances Causey, was a sibling/sister to Nancy Elizabeth Causey.

Illegitimate Son?

I have recently traced my ancestry back to Joseph Hornsby (c.1660-1720) of Cobham Hall, Kent. In the will of Sir Joseph Williamson, Joseph Hornsby and his children inherit most of the property, and J.H. is called J.W.'s "kinsman". I read on the internet that Joseph Williamson's kinsman is generally believed to be his illegitimate son. Does anyone know anything more about this, or about the term kinsman and what exactly it meant in the 1700s? I would appreciate any suggestions.

Hi, my great-great Grandmother was Pearl Hornsby, and I cannot find any information on who her parents were. She was born around 1874, Married Lloyd B. Ward, and is buried in Quincy, Gadsden County, FL. If anyone has any info, I would really love to hear from you!

I say she's possibly from Fulton County, b/c her daugher, my great grandmother Margaret Ward, was born in Fulton County.
