Hi-
Interesting! All of my Horrigans ended up in the Salem/Peabody area of Massachusettes and worked in the leather factories...I have often wondered if their life improved after immigrating as working in the leather factories at that time was no fun....my dad told me about the "wet wheel"....new skins were first put through some vat of acid and considering that the human flesh is...or could be leather, the folks who did this work didn't last long. None of my ancestors who worked in the leather factories lived past 60!!!
