I have just really started going back though my family tree and have found that the Hoskins have had many branch in other directions. I have a trace back to a Thomas Hoskins witch I belive to have been Hoskinson. Born in 1679? and died in 1802, in Rock Creek Parish, Maryland. I have the following names Of my direct line. But no information on the other children in this line.

John Hoskins Born 1741 Rock Creek Parish, Maryland. Died 1818 Lickinging Co OH Mairred Ruth LLoyd Licking OH. Children where Thomas, Jesse, John, Ezekial, Reuben, Levi.

Ezekial Hoskins born 1776 Washinton NC died 1865 Harlan KY, Maried to Elizabeth Campbel Russle VA
Children where Mary, Hiram, James K, Sally A, Levi, Malinda, John, Reuben, George.

Reuben Hoskins Born 1815 Harlan Ky, Died 1880 Henry Co Ky, can not find record of wife but they had the following children. Lucy Ann, Rachel, John Wesley.

John Wesley Hoskins Born 1838 Henry Co Ky Died 1917 Spencer Co Ky, wife unknow the only child I can find is Andrew Jackson Hoskins that happens to be my Ggrandpa.

Andrew Jackson Hoskins had at least 3 sons, Ted, Andrew Herbert, Walter Raymond,

Walter Raymond Died in the 1980's and Andrew Herbert Died in the 1990's Ted is the youngest and is still alive. Raymond was my grand father.

Any conections you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I know I am missing dates here on the last few generations but no one has ever keep any record of any of this and this and I found it easier to find the older dates than the more recent ones? But the reason why I am wanting to get it all this together is to share it with my brothers who are spread out over the world now and their boys. Thanks. I can be reached at andyhoskins30@yahoo.com
William Henry Hoskins of Bell Co., KY

I am helping a friend who is desperate to find some information about her father. We know that his name is William Henry Hoskins, DOB February 20, 1931. His ex-wife says he was born in Colmas or Colmes, KY. He was the son of Carl Hoskins. His mother's maiden name was Miracle. He is believed to have had a brother named Paris and a sister or some other female family member named Julieta.

William Henry Hoskins spent 19 years in the Jackson, Michigan prison for murder. Where exactly this murder was committed (presumeably somewhere in the state of Michigan) and the details surrounding it are unknown.

William Henry died in Pineville, Bell Co., around 22 June 1985.

We would like to find out more about this man's family and some of the details surrounding the crime he committed. Any information would be appreciated. My e-mail is: littleangeljw@yahoo.com

Thank you.
If Judith Graves reads this, or anyone knows how to contact her, could they let me know, please?

Her public tree has explained a mystery of how I've found some relations stated to be 'citizens of the US' and born in Chigago Ill in Exeter, Devon, England in the 1901 census.

We are both related to Henry (Harry)Hoskins, who emigrated and eventually died in the US, but apparently returned to Exeter for a while.

Her membership name is alinafk, but I have been unable to contact her through the usual channels.

Angela

John Hoskins (1625-1680 )is the subject of this search. The information on his transfer of property he owned which became known as Cople Parish and the site of the Yeocomico Church. It also references his trips across the ocean. This was documented in the Northumberland County Order Books, 1652-1665; 1666-1678. I have viewed the micro film of the original books(loaned to our local library) These pages are unreadable as they were written on both sides of the pages and the text from both sides is blended together when using the viewing machine. Is there another source for this materal.???

It most likely turns out that Susannah Wharton, b: abt 1804, who m: Ira Hoskins, was the granddaughter of Robert and Sarah Farley Wharton. She, along with other siblings, including Margaret b: abt 1812 (who m: Arthur Crawford) and brothers Isaac b: abt 1815, Jacob b: abt 1805, Samuel, Robert and possibly Henry, were the offspring of Samuel Watson and Elizabeth Castle Wharton. There were 2 Jacobs born very close together, in Susannah’s life, one was her uncle b: 1802 m: Catherine Shannon, and her brother Jacob b abt: 1805 m: Nancy Chess..
Early use of the census was spotty. In the 1790 census there was an Alexander Castle In Washington Co., PA, the same county where Robert Wharton lived. I never found him, A. Castle, after that. That same year there were 8 other Castles in the census, 1 in Bucks Co., 6 in Dauphin Co. and 1 in Fayette Co. In 1800 PA census only 1 Castle, in Bucks Co., different from the Bucks 1790 one. In 1810, 3 Castles did the census in PA, 1 Bucks, 1 Mifflin and 1 Wayne Counties. I was never able to find Samuel Watson Wharton d: 1823 nor wife Elizabeth Castle Wharton in a census.
I am told by another correspondent that Susannah and Ira were married by Andrew Wharton. That would be her uncle, b: 1789. He was living in Morgan Co., in 1830. He died in 1833.
Isaac b: abt 1815, m: 6/4/1835, Jane Anderson b: 8/9/1814 in Scotland, d: 1890 Noble Co., OH. In the 1850 census they were together in Morgan Co., OH, with 3 children, Henry, Duncan and Grace. In 1860 Jane and Henry were living with another family in Noble Co., Isaac was gone. In 1880 Jane is living in Noble Co., with 2 Wharton grandchildren, and her status is listed as widowed or divorced. As Isaac d: 1898 and is buried in McConnelsville cemetery, Morgan Co., it must be the latter, divorced.
Ira Hoskins died between the 1860-70 censuses and wife Susannah Wharton Hoskins moved in with her daughter Catherine Lamb in Athens Co., OH. At least, that is where they were at the 1870 census. Also living with them then was Isaac Wharton. Isaac appears to be census shy. I can’t find him in 1860 or 80. In the 1880 census Susannah was living with the Lambs in Hocking Co., OH. She died 9/27/1883 in Ward Twp., Hocking Co., at age 77 years, 7 months. Her death report gave her place of birth as Prussia. Her birthplace was given as PA in the 1850 & 60 censuses, as OH in 1870 and as NY on the 1880 census with both parents listed as born in PA. The last two were probably provided by her daughter, as was that on the death report, all three different.
james a hoskins

I am also a descendant of James A Hoskins...
Here is a summary of some of my information.
Jeannette Maxey
jsmaxey@hughes.net

1. James A HOSKINS (1779- disappeared by 1830) & Rebekah, Rebecca SMITH(1787-1873)Married in Washington Co, KY 1804
James bought land in White Co IL. in 1819

I haven't been able to find him on the 1820 census either in Illinois or Kentucky.
Thoughts I had on James death: I was playing around with the census and have decided that James must have died about 1829 or early 1830. The youngest child was <5 years in 1830 Under Coleman head of the household. Since Coleman did not marry until 27th of November of 1830 this must be James & Rebecca's daughter. In 1840 this youngest child [Rebecca's household] is 5 - 10 years thus she must have been an infant a year old or less; meaning her father must have died in the previous 18 months approximately. Interesting, I think.
Children:
1. Robert COLEMAN HOSKINS* (1805-1853) & Lucretia CHAPMAN (-1853)
2. Louisa HOSKINS
3. Nancy HOSKINS
4. Hannah HOSKINS
5. Lucinda HOSKINS
6. Selina HOSKINS
7. Jane HOSKINS
8. Melinda HOSKINS
9. Rebecca HOSKINS (1815-1873)married Nathaniel Kerr
10. Daniel HOSKINS - have his marriages but can't find anything else
11. James HOSKINS - ditto

1. Robert COLEMAN HOSKINS* (1805-1853) & Margaret Spencer VAUGHT(1811-1844)
Children:
1. Eliza Jane HOSKINS (1831-1908) & Hugh AUSTIN (1830-1909)
2.
Hi all,
I'm interested in finding more information on Fred Hoskins, born 1874 in Janesville, WI, to Joshua A. and Clara Val Varrel Hoskins. He had at least one sister, Myra.
Fred Hoskins was married twice, first to Emma Lula Castleberry, 1902 in Concho County, Texas, with whom he had four children. Then to Lena Jackson sometime after 1920. I don't know if there were any children of the second marriage. Fred died in 1954 in McCulloch County, Texas.
Any information would be helpful.
Thanks,
Carlette
carlette@mail.com

Louis Curtis Hoskins of KY?, TX, and OK

I am trying to find information on my great-grandpa Louis Curtis Hoskins. His birthdate is July 21, 1873, and I think he was born in KY. His first wife's name was Mary Elizabeth (1884-?), and they had three children: Rosser (1902-?), Marvin (1908-?), and Charles (1915-?). The family lived in Fort Worth, TX from 1905-1915 and 1920-?. I know Louis was in Tulsa, OK in 1918 so I think they lived there from 1916-1919. Does anyone have information about this family? I would really appreciate your help.

Charles HOSKINS, born c1825 St James, Bristol, UK

I would be grateful for any help in trying to trace more information on my great-great grandmother Mary Ann Emmeline POOL(E)[MAEP] and her husband Charles HOSKINS.

I believe she was born in the parish of St Philip and St Jacob, Bristol in Gloucestershire, England circa 1828, the youngest child of William and Mary Ann POOL(E). Her known siblings were William, Louisa and Charles according to the 1841 census.

She married Charles HOSKINS, a cordwainer, in Bristol Register Office on 2 Sep 1850 and had a son, also Charles, in Dec 1850. They went on to have three daughters before the end of 1861: Louisa Mary born in Portsmouth, Lilly Emmeline born in Portsea and Jessamine Elizabeth born in Pontypool, Wales.

By 1871 MAEP is living with Samuel SMITH (1828-1888), a gunmaker, in Erdington, Birmingham, listed as his wife and with another four children: Ernest, Kate, May and Maud.

Although 1881 they were listed in Southwark, London with their two youngest children Samuel William (born 1872) and Leah (born 1873), they had returned to Birmingham by the time of MAEP's death in 1887.

Charles HOSKINS continued to live in Bristol, intially with Louisa, claiming to be a widower although one census entry was altered from married. He was still living at the time of the 1901 census.

She is variously listed as Mary, Ann, Emma, Emmeline and a combination thereof, making tracking her extremely difficult.

Any further information on her family or that of Samuel SMITH would be greatly appreciated and I will happily share further details with others researching this complex family!

W. 8 (Apr 1892) TN TN TN
Jasper N. 4 (Aug 1895) TN TN TN

I have a copy of an article (Unknown publisher) by Louie E. The article states that William "Billy" Belt's parents were Ophly who died 1911 and Susan Hoskins, a native of Macon Co. who died in 1932. Billy married Johnnie Bell Owens, daughter of Elbert Owens. Susan is found in Gallatin, Sumner Co., TN living with her son Willie W. and wife Sarah (1920) and William W. and Sarah in 1930. I would be grateful for any information anyone could give me on these folks as I have been able to find very little.
Crit Hoskins and Ethel Miracle in Harlan County

I am creating a family tree starting at my son. My ex's grandfather was Crit Hoskins from Harlan County born around 1905. I see a lot of information here, but my ex was telling me a story about someone close in here blood line.
***This is all second hand info, so don't take it for gospel** According to a conversation she remembered, one of the relatives on Ethel's side was a child of local Native American outcast, but there was no proof of the relation at the time, so the descendants could not claim to be Native Americans for whatever benefits. Does anyone know who she is talking about? She thinks this will be a huge stumbling block for me to trace through, but I am finding lots of information on her ancestors. My side of the family is a mess with frequent moves and dead ends. Her side seemed to stay in Harlan and Bell counties. Like I said earlier, this is all hearsay to me, but she knew many of her old family members and remembers the conversations well. Thanks for any help you could give me.

William Hoskins 1850 and Mary E Jones 1853

They were married 1869 in Jackson County, FL. I have found them in the census up to 1900 and then in 1910 they are gone. Their son James Pittman Hoskins and his wife Mary Ella Dykes are also found on the census up to 1900 and can't be found in the 1910. I know they were in the Two Egg area then because my grandfather (James and Ella's son) was born there in 1912. Is it possible that there are some pages missing from the 1910 census? I have tried looking up neighbors from the 1900 census and they cannot be found on the 1910 census either? I would appreciate any info on William Hoskins; particuarly who his parents are and when and where he died. Thanks so much.
