I live in Lincoln Co.,. NC and have some information. Jacob Hauss came to America aboard the ship Betsey in 1765; his son, Christian, arrived two days later aboard the ship, Myrtilla. Jacob appears in documents in Lincoln County in 1770, where he purchased land. In 1776, Christian purchased 300 acres. He had three more sons : Anthony, Francis and John. His wife's name may have been Elizabeth? Christian sold his land in 1811 to Daniel Hoke and moved to Ohio. No one knows what happened to John. The other two sons, Francis and Anthony, remained in the area and have numerous descendants. I am a descendant of
Anthony, my surname being changed by one of Anthony's grandsons, John, to Huss (we're not exactly sure as to the reason).. There is no record of other children of Jacob. He died in Lincoln County in 1780, and we're not sure where he is buried. He did attend Daniel's Reformed Church, as he is on record there as late as having communion.
