Interest in your information of the Hougardy Family. My great-grandmother was Marie (Mary) Lambertine Hougardy. She married Louis James. They came here from Swansea Wales late 1887/1888. I have copies of all birth certificates of the children born in Wales. They had fifteen children. Five died in Wales. There first child born in the U.S. was Catherine (Cassy) James Perry.
The mother of Marie (Mary) Lambertine Hougardy was Adela Charlotte Joseph Deveux de Veygous. Supposedly she was the daughter of a general in Napoleon's army. She was born in France according to all documents I've found. I have found proof of three generals connected to our family that were in Napoleon's army. One general very close to Napoleon was General/Comte Henri-Gatien Bertrand. He went into exile with Napoleon. When they wanted Napoleon's body brought back to France it was one of the party sent by the government. He was married to Fanny Dillon, part British. They had three children. I also have two letters from Belgium written in French. They were sent to my great-grandmother. I also have copies of death certificates for Louis and Adele Charlotte Josephine Hougardy. I could go on and on because I have so much information. Are you related to Oscar Hougardy brother of Marie (Mary) James. He was born in 1859 in Lyons, France. He was married three times - Margaret Albin, Anna Kirwin and Elizabeth Emaline Parnell. Enough for now. Hope I heard from you.
