SARAH DAWKINS, daughter of William and Mary Ann Young Dawkins, was born August 12, 1828 in East Kent, England, and died March 11, 1912 in Lancaster, PA.
She married JOHN HOUGH, JR. September 21, 1857 in Allen Co., IN, son of JOHN HOUGH and LUCY LEAVITT. He was born June 14, 1818 in Middlebury, VT, and died January 30, 1875 in Fort Wayne, Allen Co., IN.
Will Records Allen County, Indiana, volume 2, 1870-1900:
Hough, John: (vol 3 p569) probated Febuary 4 1875. Lists heirs as: wife, Sarah D. Hough; sons Samuel L. Hough, David Leavitt Hough; daughter Jessie W. Hough; sister-in-law Ellen A. Dawkins; Mary A. Dawkins, who lived with the Houghs.

Land Promoter, Lawyer in 1800's --- John Hough, Jr. (1818-1875) settled in Fort Wayne in 1843, and became a successful lawyer. He was associated with Jones, Bass & Co., manufacturers of heavy iron products. Mr. Hough practiced law with Worthington, Day and Turner. As an agent for eastern land owners, he sold one-half of the lands in Allen and adjoining counties, and accumulated a large private fortune. He was born in Middlebury, Vt, taught school in Alabama, and studied law in Cleveland in 1841-42, before coming here.

2. JESSIE W. HOUGH, m. J. Harold WICKERSHAM, November 04, 1880, Allen Co., IN. He was of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Children: Dorothy & Leavitte.
3. DAVID LEAVITT HOUGH, b. April 27, 1865, Fort Wayne, Allen Co., IN; d. October 12, 1938, New York City, New York; m. HELOISE BEEKMAN. Children: John Beekman Hough and Heloise Beekman Hough.
