Greetings Samantha

A little late in reply, but - My name is Tom Murphy and Charity Constance (Rue) Houp was my g-gm. I think that your Lowell Houp may be from Thomas Houp (Casey County, Ky), brother to Edmund Houp. My Houp's, those of Charity Rue and Jackson Francis Houp ended up in Ludlow while the Houp's from Thomas ended up in Bromley, I think. There is a fellow down in Jessamine County that has all the answers to the Houp family. His name is Ken Houp. You can probably contact him by email at kenhoup@roadrunner.com Good Luck

Hi.
Hi,
Thanks for the fast reply. Yes this is my family. Would you be able to fill me in on the Alcorns? Do you know anything about the Turpins? The Virgil Houp you have listed as being born in 1906, son of Jackson and Fannie Alcorn Houp is correct. He is Virgil Brynt Houp b. June 19, 1906 and d. September 09, 1972 Harrodsburg, Mercer County, Kentucky. The other Virgil is likely Virgil Houp son of Flemon and Hattie Houp. Jackson and Fannie Alcorn Houp are my 2nd Great Grandparents. My line goes through their daughter Gertrude Houp.

Thanks, Kelly

Fannie Alcorn goes back thru John Hanley Alcorn, bro. to my gg-grandfather, Robert Alcorn, b. abt. 1812. Robert's parents were Susannah Turpin and another Robert Alcorn, b. 1775. Have bits and pieces of the Houp family and would like to fill in the blanks. I have a Virgil Houp, b. abt. 1906, son of Jackson Houp and Fannie Alcorn. Then I have a Virgil Houp b. 1925 in Kenton Co., KY, whose mother is listed Fannie Alcorn. What do I have wrong here? Is Virgil Houp b. 1906, son of Jackson Houp and Fannie Alcorn? I would be glad to share what I have with you. I also have names of several children of Jackson and Fannie. Would like to get their dates and spouses also. What can I help you with?

I am an online bookseller and I just found a small 1911 New Testament that may be of interest to the Houpe family. It has a *very* old photo of a woman dressed circa 1900 and is inscribed as follows: "Sarah E. Gryder. Sunday Jany 25th 1914 a memorable day! Sarah Gryder Houpe was born June 5th 1887. Martha May Houpe was born Jan 25 1914. Sarah Gryder Houpe departed this life Dec 26 1914." If interested in purchasing this $40 Bible with inscription and photo, please email beachcomberbooks@beachcomberbooks.com. Many thanks!

Houp Family of Ohio/Kentucky

Hello. I am looking for some help in researching my husband's family and am not having much luck finding information.

Looking for information on Lowell Houp (BD: 7/5/13, Date of death 1/30/96). He lived in Bromley/Ludlow Kentucky but spent his last years in Ohio, Hamilton County, possibly in Norwood. His first wife was Thelma Dorsey (not 100% sure I have her maiden name spelled correctly) and we beleive his second wife, to whom he was married at time of death, to be named Bernette (unsure of maiden name).

Lowell and Thelma had at least three children: Lowell (who goes by the name Lee), Peggy and Donna, who live in Covington and Ludlow KY. We are having little luck finding any further info as those living do not seem to remember much info.

As I understand it, there are two Houp lines that were in the Ludlow/Bromley area, one being the line of Charity Constance Houp and one being the line that includes Edmund Houp. We'd like to find out which line is my husband's family and further information on descendents in this line.

I'd love to hear from anyone who may have any information or who may be able to help us determine which line is my husband's grandfather's family.

You can email me directly at sammilynn@zoomtown.com

Thanks
Samantha
