Re: Missing Sisters Brother

Hello,
I am writing to you on behalf of a friend of mine who does not have membership with ancestry.com. The following is her letter to you.
____
My name is Nancy Houser; my mother's name is Mary and I have a sister a year older than me; her name is Barbara Ann. We were told in later years we were named after Aunts.

My father, George Houser, left in the early 60s and we never saw or heard from him again. My mother being fearful of him wanted it that way. He was very abusive to my mother and my sister and I.

We've always lived in St. Louis, MO. My mother passed away in 1978.

I do know when I was very young,George Houser went to prison for a year or two. I was told when I got older it was because he stole government property.

I was also told later in life he had been married seven times before my mother. My sister and I never wanted to reunite with George Houser or ever talk to him. The only thing I wander about is his health and how he died, because I'm older and would like to know for health reasons.

I am for certain we are talking about the same person and my sister and I always said we knew we had half brothers and sisters out there.
DorothyHouser Dauphin PA, William Fritz Lancaster PA

I'm looking for any information on my maternal Grandparents Dorothy Winifred Houser born approx 1917 in Dauphin PA, married William Wilson Fritz born 1916 Lancaster PA in 1937 in Maryland.
Dorothy and William had two children William Wilson born 1937 and Donna Marie born 1941. Dorothy left the children with a Mrs. Lane and a Mr. Makai in 1942, they lived there until approximately 1948 when the children were place in Little Flower Orphange, Wading River NY. At that time Dorothy stated that William was serving jail time for robbery, and was residing with Herbert Wentz also of PA in a common law relationship. Both children were eventually placed in Foster care in New York.

From my research I believe (mainly by dates) that Dorothy's parents were Ralph Ellisworth Houser and Bertha Lewis of Dauphin PA I have additional information on that lineage but nothing on William Fritz. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I have a copy of the death certificate of R.D. Houser, who died 06 January 1906 in Provo, Utah Co., Utah.
According to the death certificate, this man was conductor of freight train, age, 37 yrs, 1 mo., 1 day. resident of state mental hospital, Informant: D H Calder, his physician. The certificate says he was married, but gives no name or any other information.

Does anyone have any connection to this man?

I suspect he might be my grandfather's brother, Rolla D HAUSER / HOUSER, who was born in Iowa, son of Tinlis and Lucy (USHER) HAUSER. The age would be very close, but doesn't match exactly with the info I have.

So another two years pass, and another question about this family comes up here. I am interested in WHERE Susanna Housser [daughter of Jacob and Susanna Kolb Housser who was born about 1794] married Isaac Osburn. Has anyone found a record for any of the marriages of Jacob's children?

Have you gone online to the Missouri Secretary of State's website and found the online resources and datatbase genealogical records yet? There are death certificates online for Walter and Maude, Mary Houser age 16, Mary and William Comstock, and a Guthrie Galene or Guthrie Calene Houser.

In addition, if you look at the soldiers database and find anyone there, you can take then that information and contact the Hulston Library at Wilsons Creek Battlefield and if the soldier signed up in Missouri there is a good chance that they can help you get it.

I found Guthrie by searching for the surname and Jasper county since that was where Maude, Mark, and Walter were living when they died.

I noticed him because he was living in the same town as the other Housers and the Comstocks but he may not be related. Comstock's daughter Juaneta, age 10 also died in 1918. If you do a search with last name and Jasper county, Maude also has a revised certificate dated 1926 instead of 1925.

Re: Josephus Houser of Ballard / Graves County KY

Thank you. Yes, Rebecca did marry Joshua Rust. There may have been another daughter, possibly Nancy, who married James Rust. Although this couple and their children cannot be located in Ballard or Graves County in 1870 and 1880, their children James H and Joshua Riley are found in the 1900 census and forward in Cairo, IL although descendants of Joshua Riley say he grew up in Mayfield. Nancy married Mr. Summers after James Rust died around 1885. The birthdates on Nancy's 1900 and 1910 census in Cairo with Mr. Summers don't match the birth year for Nancy Houser according the 1850 and 1860 census so I'm not sure if Nancy was Nancy Houser or not. The descendants of Joshua Riley Rust have a possible death cert for Nancy showing that she was a Houser. The death cert has the name Mary Summers b. Sept 1852, which the month and year on Nancy's 1900 census with Mr. Summers. Father is Jed Houser. James H death cert says his mother was Nancy Jane Simmons (typo possibly for Summers). So was James Rust's wife Mary or Nancy Houser? I think that Mary Houser married Don Allcock. Family legend was that two of Josephus' daughters married a Rust.

I hope some of you are able to find this useful, interesting at least.

My grandmothers second uncle Lemuel Clarence ("L.C." or more commonly known as "Bud") Houser wrote this somewhere around 1966 I believe. I copied it word for word, all underlines and spellings to match what was written in the story. I also have a family tree he drew up, it has additions added by my Grandmother for our family and is quite useful.

Please let me know if there is any information I could help you find, or verify. My Grandmother is very knowledgeable and remembers many things on this line. I'd be happy to hear if anyone is related to this line and what you may know or have to add.

Here is the link: http://trees.ancestry.com/pt/ViewStory.aspx?pid=-981262300&a...

-Brittany

Hi Betty
I was happy to receive your e-mail. After reading it several times the light went on and I realized that you are my cousin. Your mother Florence was my mother’s (Bertha) older sister. Nice to meet you. I am the keeper of the Houser family Bibles and photo album and many other pictures and I do have pictures of Maud and Henry Houser. I have a lot of personal knowledge of the Houser family and I will be happy to share this information with you. So here is my e-mail address so that we can talk more privately about the Housers. bfairlee@yahoo.com
Bill Fairlee
Hi Stephen
I would be happy to share my data and Bible records with you. My line is Bertha Hauser, Henry C Houser, and John A Houser. What is your line? I also have many pictures of Houser family members from the early 1900s. Some I cannot ID. Do you have any pictures or do you know of anyone who may have some old Houser pictures that could help me ID some of my photos.? I live in Schenectady NY about a half hour drive from Rensselaer NY. Do you live around Rensselear?
Bill
