I'll have to go take a look at that census. I have not seen it before. I only just found out that Rachel (Rachelle) Belle's surname was HOWE or HOUT. Does the census list her 7 yr. old sister's name? Do you think that
Mary FIELDS could be an older sister to the two.
A family member, granddaughter of Wesley and Belle, also just told me that their are family stories about both grandparents being of native american heritage.
You mention in your post that the family went to Texas and then to Oklahoma - could you tell me where in Texas you found them. I'd appreciate the lead in finding them and would be happy to share additional information I find in the future!
Thanks, Susan

Frank Hout of Hawarden, Iowa, was my great-uncle. He and
my grandmother, Estella HOUT COOPER, were brother and sister. I do not have a great deal of HOUT information,
but would be glad to share what I have. If you have not done so already, you might want to contact Rocky WATERMAN of Hawarden, as he is doing research on the family as his
grandmother, Alberta HOUT WATERMAN was Leslie HOUT's sister.
Marceline MILLIKAN GARNER garner2jm@live.com

Hout family from OH

I am looking for information about any Hout family members who lived in or near Wayne and Summit Counties in OH. I am interested in knowing where the Hout name originated. I have limited information on cemetary records of family members buried in St. Michaels Cemetary in Marshallville, OH.

RE: Mary Ann Miller- I know Mary Ann, her mother is my father-in-laws sister and we have shared information previously. His other sister, Nell, completed a family tree in the 1970's and gave us a copy. It only went back as far as John Bealy Hout. I have some new information about his father and mother. I need to find some time this week to go back and refresh my memory on all of the details. I appreciate your information - will keep in touch. Thanks for your help.

Try Wurtenberg, Germany. A German friend said that some people changed one or two letters in their last name to avoid prosacution. Also the o may have looked like an a if written sloppily. Germany also used two dots above certin letters like a and o. this could account for various spellings.
Ken
