      <description>YOUNGSTOWN – Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home for Paul A. Hovanec, 84, who entered into rest Saturday afternoon, August 27, 2011 at Austinwoods Nursing Home.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Paul was born June 4, 1927, in Struthers, Ohio the son of the late Paul and Veronica (Checkel) Hovanec.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;He was a graduate of Campbell Memorial High School, and served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;He had been employed as a shipping clerk for 30 years at Mahoney Sash and Door Co., retiring in 1986.       <description>&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;           George Hovanec Crown Point, IN George Hovanec, age 85, of Crown Point, IN, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 27, 2007. He was born on April 19, 1922 in Royal, PA, the son of Michael and Katherine (Baron) Hovanec. George proudly served his country in the U.S. Army 310th Infantry during World War II. He married Shirley Kobalski on September 8, 1951 in Gary, IN. George and his brothers were owners of Hobart Ready Mix. He was a very hard working man who was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. George is survived by his loving family; sons: Brian Hovanec of Crown Point, IN, Terry (Mary Kay) Hovanec of Crown Point, IN, Richard (Debbie) Hovanec and children of Valparaiso, IN; grandchildren: Christopher, Ryan and Jamie Hovanec, Michelle (Dylan) Lovan, Matthew and Jacob Hovanec; great-grandchildren: Alyssa and Nicholas Hovanec; brothers: Mike Hovanec of Hobart, IN and Steve (Millie) Hovanec of Merrillville, IN; sister, Helen of Sandala, CA; and other loving family and dear friends. George was preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley Hovanec, in 1996; mother, Katherine Hovanec in 1972; father, Michael Hovanec in 1989; and sisters: Mary Bobruk and Katherine Price. Visitation for George Hovanec will be held from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at Rees Funeral Home, Winfield Chapel, 10909 Randolph Street, Winfield, IN. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Winfield Chapel. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso. Memorials in George's memory may be made to St. Anthony Hospice.
