I am trying to find more info on John Howell of that area in Indiana. Born about 1794, he applied for a marriage license with a Lindley girl, then a few months later applied for a marriage license with her sister! I found family trees of them, some show him marrying Jenny Lindley, some show him marrying her sister Lydia Lindley.
Anyone out there have any proof of what really occurred?

It is odd that I found no son named Richard. Are my lists complete? Do you know who, when and where the children from these two marriages married?

I realize what an imposition this is, and would appreciate any suggestions more than I can express. Has anyone found Howell records from the Lewes or Pevensey Rapes in the 15th century?

It once seemed likely that some local Howells were among the retinue of the Earl of Arundel at Agincourt, but I found no evidence. As treasurer of the expedition, the 12th earl must have kept careful records, and I recall once seeing a list of part of his retinue. Perhaps it was in SAC.

I have just been given her sewing machine which she gave to her daughter. My nan passed away in 2005. I'm descended from a Duke Howell family in Knox Co. TN, but I believe yours is the "other" Howell family that is on the North side of the River. I'm not sure, though, since my early Howells remain a mystery to me as well. Mine lived very near the Knox/ Blount Co. lines, (South of the River.) I went to the census and see that Sarah's oldest child, Ange (Angie?) is born about 1866. I checked the Knox Co. marriages and found a HOWELL, R M marr. LITTLE, Sarah J on 22-OCT-1862.
This was the only Sarah or Sally I could find that was about the right marriage date. In that 1880 census there is a William H. Howell married to Manerva nearby. This could be Sarah's father-in-law. More than likely this is Minerva Smart, who married a Wm Howell 05-AUG-1852.

Lillie Mae Howell was born in PA, 26 Jul 1871 and died probably in PA 15 Jun 1934.
She is the daugher of Robert C. Howell and Mary Stroup.

Lillie had a daughter, Leah Pearl Howell, who was born 29 May 1892 in Mt. Pleasant Township, Columbia County, PA. Leah died 21 Oct 1961 in Dade County Florida.

Leah's father may have been Jacob Swisher and she may have had a sister, Ethel who married Kerschner.

I believe I called you on the phone 4 or 5 years ago and we chatted a bit then. Don't you live in Oconomowoc? In that case, it is good to hear from you again. Akity Fender was my great grandfather. I'm trying to recall, but it's hard after awhile to remember, but wasn't your grand father Thomas and your grand mother Mary (Stewart)? Please correct me if I'm wrong. I have collected most all the information I could find on the Fender side of my family. As far as I know, and that may not be much, my father and you are the only great grand children of Alexander Fender I know of. Thomas was actually from Alexander's first wife, whom I have no definite record of, and Akity (he went by A. C.) was the son of his second wife Mary (Snyder). Hi, I have hit a roadblock with Lucinda, Im not certain but i've found there was a James Howell in Ashe at the right time I guess its possible could be her family, but i have no proof at all. She named her oldest son "James William" this wasn't from her husbands side. So Im thinking it could be named after her dad or maybe she just liked the name.

Any help with finding her parents/siblings is very appreciated. She got married in 1843 to John Stidham, they stayed in Ashe a few years & was on the 1850 census there, but came to virginia about 1855 or so.

William S. Howell- Knoxville, TN milliner and civic leader in the early 1800's

I am researching a Howell family in Knox Co. TN. I'm currently looking for others that may be descended from a William S. Howell of Knoxville, TN. He served on the Knoxville City Council for 5 years in the 1820's and 1830's. He was a milliner by trade. He first married Myra McNair in 1816 and then Minerva King George in 1837. William S. died about 1838. He and Myra had 6 known children: Eliza Jane, Martha H., John M., William P., and Thomas B. Eliza Jane died as an infant. Martha H. married John Pickett in 1835 in Knox Co. The others are unaccounted for. I'd greatly appreciate if anyone has information on any of these Howells.

LIVINGSTON, Mont., May 19. - On the
6th inst. John Howell, a prominent mine
owner of Cook City, while in a state of
partial insanity brought on by excessive
drinking, wandered away from Hunter's
hot springs, where he had been obtaining
treatment. His brother James was imme-
diately summoned from Cooke and has been
searching for him ever since. This morning
the body of the missing man was found in
the Yellowstone river. He had probably
been drowned on the day or the night fol-
lowing his disappearance. The unfortunate
man was the owner of mining property
which had already made him large returns
and would have made him very wealthy.

A funeral service for Thena Jo Howell, 58 of Newark, Ohio will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 17, 2009 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home. Interment will be in Fairmount Cemetery.

Mrs. Howell passed away Friday morning, August 14, 2009 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center, operated by Hospice of Central Ohio after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born December 8, 1950 in Radnor, West Virginia to Robert and JoAnn Perry of Wooster, Ohio.

Mrs. Howell was a registered nurse. She had worked for Select Specialty Hospitals in Zanesville.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of 38 years, Doug Howell, whom she married December 12, 1970; a daughter, Stephanie Howell; sons, Benjamin Howell, and Andrew (Stefanie) Howell; a granddaughter, Aubrey Carthe Howell, all of Newark; a brother Robert (Lisa) Perry of Long Lake, Minn.; sisters, Cathy Colson of Covington, Ga., Jackie Perry of Orrville, Ohio; Suzie Perry of Reno, Nev., Gretta (Dan) Baird of Oakridge, N.C., Diane Perry of Wooster, and Denise Perry of Orrville.

Friends and family may visit from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark, Ohio.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio, P.O. Box 430, Newark, Ohio 43058-0430. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
