Samuel was discharged in January 1863 at Benton barracks near St. Louis. He then enlisted in the Mississippi Marine Brigade and served until the war ended. I have been in contact with a lady who is going to the archives this month and hopefully get his records. I do know that he applied for a pension and was a patient in a veterans home prior to his death in 1909.
