I have found a connection.

My 3 x great grandmother, Esther HOY (b. 1839) was the sister of Alice HOY (b. abt 1833). Alice HOY did not marry but had several children including Eliza HOY (b. abt 1857). Eliza also did not marry and had three sons including William HOY b 1877.

Esther and Alice were the daughters of John HOY (ca. 1793-1862) and Hannah RAYNER.
