He was my grandfather.His oldest son Adelbert Jesse Hoyt was my father.I know very little of his family history,but I do know his father died as a result of a broken leg from jumping from a train in the snow. May I ask what is your interest in him?

I am not related to Hoyt's or Offen's...my half sisters are. and even their mother is a half sister to the my Hoyt's born to Matilda Offen & Harry Sylvester Hoyt.

You did not say when your mother was born. What I do know is LaVern Hoyt, married twice having 15 or more children...all the children's given names began with an L. And I am/was in contact with a Lonnie Hoyt, daughter of Vern as I knew him.

So I cannot say for sure at this point...Doc

They lived in Fairfield CT, the same home as Alice's mother's.

George HHOYT's parents were George and Amelia. His siblings were Edward HOYT and Dorothy nee HOYT KRAUT.

My Jesse Hoyt lived in Wood County, Oh. Perrysburg, Ohio He died in an Old Fellow's Home in Springfield< Ohio. He had one son, Jesse Hoyt.

I know basically who your are, we may have met once or twice....I remember there was Lisa, Lonnie, Larry, I remember many of the children, if not all 16 given names began with L.

I have someone else you will be anxious to talk to too, besides Patty my half sister, is Carol Offen Jentsch, Matilda Offen was her Aunt Tillie, her Dad's sister.

Barbara's husband Richard N. Young is my father, however he was born Newton Richard Begnal.

I am also in touch with Patty, and she may be in contact with Susie (Karen Susan), they used to live on Beland Blvd. Redondo Beach...if you ever lived in CA. Ricky the oldest of the girls died in 20 Apr 2006

The reason I have not replied to your message is that I did receiving a message from the system indicating that you had responded to my original message.

Lucian Barnes was a brother of my great-grandfather, George Barnes. They both descend from James M. Barnes and Sophronia Hoyt. James, in turn, descends through Elijah Barnes, Jr., and then from Elijah Barnes, Sr.,both buried in the Old Methodist Cemetery a few miles north of Barnard. The latter served during the Revolutionary War from Massachusetts and moved to Barnard in the 1780s.

Sophronia Hoyt is a mystery. I have not found anything definitive on her. Although her death certificate indicates she was born in NY, the daughter of Nicholas Hoyt, I wonder about the NY part. Perhaps that should be NH where there was a concentration of Hoyts. I would be delighted to correspond with you on this family. I can help you with info on Cora J Jester who married Edwin A. Hoyt on Jan 21, 1886 in
Franklin, Delaware Co., Ny and moved to Ohio and lived there until she died in 1938. Cora's father was William B. Jester born Feb 9, 1823 in England and emigrated to the USA from Liverpool England in 1827. William married Mary Ann Goldsmith in Dec 25, 1845, Franklin, NY. William died in May 15, 1895 and Mary Died in Jan 24, 1891. Both are buried in Ouleout Valley Cemetery in Franklin,NY. Cora was there 7th child. Sorry I can not help you any info on the Hoyt side of the family. I do show that they had 4 children, William, Ethel, Florence, and unknown.

It's been a long time since our postings. Hoping you're still researching. Wondering if you found any more regarding these Hoyts? I have a William Sherman Hoyt b. 1867. Can't find him after 1890. Do have a Harriett M. Hoyt, age 52 living with Van Middlesworths in Chicago, IL in 1920. She is listed as "aunt" to this family and my William Sherman Hoyt would have been an uncle. Anything fit with your information?

Looking for information on the family of JESSE HOYT, b. abt 1800 died 1852 in Pittstown, Rensselaer, NY.. he's buried at the East Pittstown Cemetery. I believe his wife was Christina ___________ they had 4 children : Jerome in Dec 1823. Martin 1826 . George W. 1833 and Electa in 1837. I George W. is my GGGG grandfather, he migrated to Ohio about 1865 or so with his wife LUCINDA GARDINER . According to George's death certificate his father was JESSE HOYT and mother CHRISTINA CHAUD______Can't read the rest of the name. I've found them on the 1850 census in Rensselaer County, NY. I'm wondering who Jesse's parents are and where and when Christina died. along with her family information .

Sandy, I don't recall a Jesse Hoyt on my list born in 1825. I'm still trying to verify that The Jesse HOYT I'm searching in NY is in fact the father of my George W HOYT. BUT do you know when / where your Jesse Hoyt died ? And which area of Ohio did your HOYT's settle in ? I know there is another line of HOYT's that settled in Cleveland that are not ( at this point ) directly related to my group. You can check the Ohio death records here and on the Ohio Geneology site as well. and there is a new index for LDS that you can search as well. http://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#... this is a work in progress site for LDS but I've found it very useful.

Boy, that was along time ago! Rechecking the book, Hannah was (2989) b: 28, Jan., 1768; m: Nathaniel Mills; d: 4, Jun., 1787. I haven't worked on my Hoyts for awhile but notice that Hannah's si Theodosia, b: 4, Mar., 1771; m: (?) Weed; rem. to Walton, NY.Called Docid in father's will, 1803.

I'd like to find out more about Alonzo A Hoyt, born May 1825 in Woodbury, Vt.

He married a Rebecca P about 1850 -- I suspect this is Rebecca P. Guptill, daughter of Curtis Guptill and Belinda Libby, both because the Hoyts are listed on the line above the Guptills on the 1860 census (of Gouldsboro, Maine), and because their oldest son is Guptill Alonzo Hoyt, born 1851 in Massachusetts.

Their other children:
Augustus T, born 1853 in Maine
Anna J, born 1855 in Maine
Lillian E, born 1857 in Maine
Mary E, born 1859 in Maine
Leon A, born 1867 in Georgia
Charles C, born Mar 1870 in Florida (possibly Jacksonville, Duval Co).

Alonzo's mother was an Anna T. She seems to have been widowed shortly after Alonzo's birth, and then married John Blanchard in 1826 in Woodbury, Vt.

Anne and John moved to Conneaut, Ashtabula Co, Ohio by 1860, and Alonzo was living with his widowed mother by 1880 (Rebecca was still in Jacksonville).

I had the wrong name for my greatgrandmother (Cecil's mother), and am correcting it from her death certificate: Ida Lola Googe, daughter of James Googe Jr.

She was born 13 Feb 1885 in Abbeville, Wilcox Co, GA; married William Lee Hoyt on 21 May 1901 in Wilcox Co; and died 19 May 1925 in Jacksonville, Duval Co, Florida.

Henry J. Hoyt born about 1823 in "New York" married Elizabeth Graves in Rodman, Jefferson Co., New York in 1845. They moved to Wisconsin shortly thereafter living at first in Marquette and Fond du Lac counties, by 1854 settling in Naples/Mondovi, Buffalo County, Wisconsin. Henry died in Salibury Conferderate prison camp in December 1864. Children were Mary, Dorphelia, Sarah Marie, Charles Henry, Frank, and Andrew. Searching for Henry J. Hoyt's parents and county of birth. Available records, including military records, have not helped so hoping Henry might be listed in a private family record.

I am looking parents of Jesse C. Hoyt, born NY 1825. He had a son Jesse, born NY 1862. They were in OH in 1880, I have not found them anywhere before that. I am not sure if my Jesse is part of this family, but I hope so. He has been my dead end for years.

Hi I Live in the in Hoyt Estate in Lowell Ma. Hoyt & Shed (as in Shed Park, Lowell) are at 386 & 396 Andover St. Stop by if you would like more info. We have a lot of the Hoyt's things kicking around... like the family bible.
