Hi Dave.Glad to hear from you.I don't know to much about my uncle, Victor,but sometimes I'd see him on my grandfathers farm in Livermore,California when I was small.He was always friendly to my sisters and myself and often sent us gifts from some of the places he visited.I believe he was in the Merchant Marines. Was that your birth announcement I listed on my tree,or was that possibly your brother? It was listed as Victor jr. so I'm not sure. I'd love to correspond,and to try and fill in some of the blanks in the Entenman Tree. I've been at this project for about five years,and am starting to find some missing pieces to the puzzle.I've found out quite a bit about my granmother Marys' family since I posted this notice in 2007. Hope to hear from you.

My mother is Jewell Exean Huckabay, my grandmother was Miriam, her father was Elmer Tucker Huckabay. Sorry, the names you listed don't sound familiar, but it is a very large family. Gerri

Hi, my name is Gerri Ballew. My mother is a Huckabay. I too am searching for the origins of the name. So far I have traced my family to England in about 1625. My family too is from the Oklahoma/Texas area and have as strong native american blood line. I have a feeling we may be related. I have always wondered where my last name originated from! My great great great grandparents were adopted and so my family tree doesnt go back very far. Most of my family is in and around Austin and Odessa, TX. I know that we do have a strong native american bloodline, but dont know where our last name originated! If anyone has any information or a way of finding out, please let me know!

Hi Gary - I have a William Taylor Huckabay in my history. He was my great grandfather. Born Nov.15.1846. He was originally from Arkansas. He had 10 Children - one of which was Simpson Huckabay - my grandfather. I have a complete genealogy back to the 1700's. If this fits with your info - I would be very interested in talking to you. Please respond. and if you include your e-mail address I can send you information directly.

Stella Huckabay McLain is my Grandmother. She was married to Lori McLain and had seven children, Woodie, Eva, O'Lena, Nita, Jane, Alvin, and Wanda. And yes, she lived in Fox, Oklahoma until around 1952 when Lori died. She then moved to California and lived with Aunt Lena until her death in 1971. Her body was returned to Oklahoma where she was buried next to her husband. She was a warm loving woman of great moral character, laughed easily and must have had a tremendous amount of patience to put up with all of us. She use to tell me we came from the stars. She had long flowing white hair that she wore up in a bun held by long thin bobby pins and when she would comb her hair in the morning all of us kids would gather around to see Grandma's hair. She had crystal blue eyes that would dance when she laughed. She kept a hanky under her pillow. :)

Jessee was born in or around McAlester,Texas and then spent time in Oklahoma in Carter County I think, somewhere around Ardmor or Healdton I think. And that is all I know. I can't remember Grandma saying much of anything other than that. Try contacting Earl McLain in McLain, Texas. He might know more than I. Good luck.

Stella's daughter Anna Unita McLain was my grandmother, and her son Granvell Rex was my dad. I have pic's of the tombstones of James Phillip & Emily Stewart Huckabay, Pearl Magnora Poland (wife of Dr. W. H. Huckabay), Mollie Huckabay Dees & son Richard Dees, James M. & Laura E. Norman Huckabay, and more if anyone's interested.

James P. Huckabay, who was of Irish stock, and who died in 1914 at the age of seventy-two, was a Southern soldier in the war between the states, being at the siege of Vicksburg and after leaving the army came by boat to Alexandria, Louisiana, and then worked his way back home. He was a planter and a member of the Trinity Baptist Church. His wife died in 1917, aged seventy-seven. Their three children were : James M., a merchant at Bossier City, Dr. William Henry, and Mollie, who died in 1916, wife of William Dees.

I was born into the Huckabay family in Houston, Texas. My grandfather Morris Huckabay, was from the Austin, TX area. He had brothers and sisters: Neal, Donald, Dub, Willie Mae, and a couple of others. We always have a family reunion at Lake Travis on Father's Day Weekend. If you come the entrance shack to the state park will tell you where we are. We have been camping at the same location for over 20 years.

9 legal pages of Huckabay/Huckaby/Huckabee information researched and recorded by Lt. Col (Ret) Ben M. Huckabay. Starting with "Thos. Huccoby came to Virginia, 1675 as a headright of Capt William Byrd, who owned a large plantation in Charles City County Va." Includes Last Will of James Huckabay, dated 16 May 1796, Georgia, Oglethroupe (sic) Co.

I think this includes the Revolutionary soldier Philip Huckabay and the Confederate soldier Philip Franklin Huckabay.

This Huckabay family migrated from VA to TX thru the centuries. Lt Col Huckabay's work is detailed with children, marriages, birth dates, and some anecdotal input.

Lt. Col (Ret) Ben M. Huckabay was a chivalrous southern gentleman and if you find his work important to your family line think a gracious thank you to this kind man who was pleased to share the family information without profit.

To continue his spirit of kindness the information is copyrighted to prevent anyone from reproducing it for profit. It may be freely shared with anyone researching not-for-profit the Huckabay line or any of the collateral lines.

Hopefully his work will help fill in the blanks for you. Will scan and post the information by 20071509.

can you post an email address, I can email you the lineage back to 1600 something. there is also a Philip Huckabay who served in the Revolution that's good for DAR/SAR. He is refered to as Old Philip and your PFH is Young Philip, served in the CSA good for a UDC SCV.

The pages are legal size, I tried to scan them to a pdf format, it did not work. The handwritten text is too intense to shrink to letter size. Please tell me how to get them on this site. I am anxious to post them because it is your family. I sincerely apologize about not posting them because I know how important it is to have family info. This info goes back to the 1st Huckabay in America (a headwright) and I'm sure you would enjoy having it. Please let me know how to do it.

Green Hillier Huckabay Sr. married Delilah Ann Denson, 1 Feb 1838, Walton Co., GA

Green H Huckabay lived in Walton, Muscogee, and Stewart Co. GA then moved to Bienville Parish, LA in 1851. He was one of the pioneers of Bienville Parish and a prominent slave and land owner there.

2nd Artillery Battalion was formed at Alexandria, Louisiana, during the fall of 1863 with three companies, later increased to four. My grandfather was born in Arkansas. He moved to Saskachewan. His father was William T. Huckabay. But I am not sure if the dates apply. I have a very good history on my side, I may be able to help you, if you have any other names.

I know only know for sure is that my grandfather was born in LA and moved to Beaumont, Texas. Born 23 Aug, 1889 - death 17 Feb 1950. Wife is Hallie Cain Hauckabay. She was born in LA, too and moved to Texas. Had eight kids. I believe he got married in 1906. Hallie's dad was Ed Cain but I don't know anymore info on with grandparent's parents.

reunion talk- James Huccoby was the first to enter here in VA. and that the family made its way to Louisiana then to southeast Texas.

I am trying to find the link from my grandfather Owen Conley Huckabay Sr. to (8 greats)James Huckabay or Huccoby in VA whose dad is John form England. Last time I went to a reunion they said we were from that lineage but I don't know how.

I want to find out who Owen Conley Huckabay Sr. father is. I heard his brother was Frank and that he (O.C.) might have a twin sister.
