William Huckaby that married Eliza Ann Word/Ward is my 4th great grandfather. I have been trying to prove that he is the son of Joshua Huckaby that married Nellie McQuire. I have several reasons to beleive that relationship but no proof.

I would be interested to know if you have any information on the children of Joshua & Nellie.

Also, I found some informtion on Joshua and Nellie in the Poor Farm records, do you have that information? I would be happy to share.

I doubt if my Isaac Huckabee is the same as yours but here is what I have. I have a Isaac Calloway Huckabee, b 1832, Married to Anna. Isaac's father: Bera M. Huckabee, b. 1795, in Rutherford County, NC.

Your Isaac was born in 1808, also married to Anna, which makes mine worth taking a second look. How sure are you of his birthdate?

It seems this may be nothing but a coincidence.

Huckabee James Monroe Huckabee passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008, at a local hospital. He was 101 years old. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at Evergreen-Bundrant Cemetery, in Purmela, with H.J. Billingsley officiating. There is no visitation scheduled. Mr. Huckabee was born Feb., 10, 1907, in the Ireland community of Coryell County, Texas. He was reared and attended school in the Ireland community. He married Miss Gladys V. Johnson July 2, 1929, in Gatesville. He and his wife made their home in the Ireland community, moving to Waco in 1947. They lived in Waco for 27 years, moving to Clyde in 1974. The couple returned to the area residing in Hewitt in 1990. Mr. Huckabee was a retired carpenter and a member of the Church of Christ in Ireland. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys; and daughter, Sunela Garland. Survivors include his sister, Rosa Belle Farmer of Abilene; brother, Roy Huckabee of Jonesboro; and son-in-law, Sam Lauria. Hi, I am searching for some information on my great great grandfather, Isaac Huckabee born 1808 in North Carolina. He married Anna, my great grandfather is William James Huckabee born 1846 and my grandfather is William Carey Huckabee born 1888.

I have only been able to go back to Isaac and have not been able to find any information past him as far as his father/mother.

Any help that can be provided would be greatly appreciated. Also, if you have any additional information regarding my great grandfather and grandfather would be appreciated.

I'm looking for any information on the above 3 Huckabee ladies - Margeret (Maggie) married Eliabe Chavis (1892-1918) Buried in the Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery in Chavistown, Marlbor COunty.

Mary Jane Hood Huckabee married Eli Chvais (1833-1895) they are buried in the Chavis Cemetery, also in Chavistown, Marlboro county. SC --

Christina Huckabee is in the Home of Eki & Mary Jane on the 1880 census and is listed as Sister-In-Law --

I can find no informatin that tells me who the parents of the Huckabee's are.

I purchased some old photos from an estate sale in Mobile, Alabama which have members of the Huckabee family idintified on them. I will try to attach the file, it didn't work last time I tried. This sale had hundreds of photos, all sorts of letters, paper documents, DAR documents, just a treasure load for someone. I'm sure that no one bought them up. I ask the owner of the sale what would happen to things that didn't sale and he said it would go to someone that would bid on the whole lot of items. You might be able to find who it sold to if you act fast, the sale ended Sunday, 4 May 2008. I know the man that operates the estate sales. Email me, I can put you in touch with him.

For another coincidence my grandmother was the granddaughter of Jane A. Huckabee the daughter of Berryman and Elizabeth. She and my grandfather Alvin Dewey HUTSON lived for many many years in Lamb County Texas. As you know Jane A is the sister just younger than your James P.

I believe that the enumerator made a mistake as I think these three children were all born in Texas. Miles and his second wife Alpha J is in the census of 1910 in Comanche Texas. On some of the search bases it has them listed as Ruckabee instead of Huckabee. His death certificate is listed on the LDS site and shows the same date and his place of death was Axtell McLennan Co Texas. They are the same Miles Calloway Huckabee.

Mrs. Frances Huckabee aged about sixty years. This truly estimable
lady had for many years lingered under a pulmonary complaint which she
endured with Christian fortitude, performing as long as the utmost
exertions of nature would permit, all the offices of the industrious
wife and mother until her disease assumed a dropsical appearance,
which soon put a period to a life which had been spend in that kind of
equanimity which has not perhaps left her one foe behind, but many
friends and relations to lament her loss.

Yes, I remember you well. I gave a copy of the photo to everyone connected with the Huckabee line and, unfortunately, no one had any idea. Since the original photo wasn't mine, I didn't want to post it to any of the photo sites, but is that something you might want to consider? It might provide a bigger audience of viewers and increase the chances of having them identified.

Were there two men named Miles C. Huckabee, of approximately same age in central Texas at the same time? My information about Miles C Huckabee is as a son of James P. Huckabee (and Barbara Stark) who moved to Hempstead Co, AR in late 1850s. He was the son of Berryman Huckabee of North Carolina, Georgia, Mississippi. We have no record of a Miller as the son of our Miles C. Found a M.C. Huckabee with a son, Miller, in 1900 census for McLennan Co, TX; our Miles moved to Erath and Comanche Counties. It is a puzzle. Would like more info on death certificate.

What confuses me is the 1900 census in McLennon COunty where there is M.C. Huckabee, 55, with wife, Rachel, 50, both born in Alabama. This is the first report of the three children - John, Lillie and Miller - all born in Alabama. Did Miles move to Alabama or did the Enumerator (or informarer) just goof? I have not found Miles in a 1910 censu, but in 1920 he is widowed and living with his sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca and David Smith in Eastwood County. He is listed in the Texas Death Index 1903-2000 death 17 Feb 1922, McLennan Co. TX. Are these all the same Miles C?

Thank you. You have helped clear up a good bit. I am a gg grandson of James P. Huckabee through John Berryman, his son William and my Father Robert W. I have worked with Vickie Mathews and have been trying to flesh out the descendants of James P and Barbara who went to Erath County, Texas. Have wondered about their connection with some of the non-Berryman Huckabees who settled in Lafayette and Pontotoc counties in Miss in the 1840s and 50s. I also find it interesting that Grandfather William moved down to Edna Hill, Erath Co. for awhile in the late 1930's- early 40s - while sons continued to farm his place up in Lamb County. I just ran across your post. My grandfather and ggrandparents were from Maringo County, Alabama. The Huckabee and Chapman families. In this post I found my ggrandmother's sister. Maggie Roberti Chapman. I am new to researching, but ny mother is not. My grandfathers name is Fltcher Mural Huckabee born 8 Apr 1908 in Jenison, Chilton, Al. His father was Franklin Fletcher Huckabee- born 20 Sept. 1861 in Alabama, Married to Emma Harriet Gainey Born 28 Aug 1865 in Winston Alabama. Franklin's father was James C. (J.C., James Charles, James Charles McCloud?) Huckabee born 22 Jun 1842, , Alabama, Died 1 Aug 1863 or 23 june 1863 in New Jersey. He was married on 9 Aug 1860 in Shelby County,,Al to Samantha C. Thames born 23 dec 1838,,Al died 13 Mar 1894,,Al. James father is Jonathan C. Huckabee born 1820,,Al. Death date unknown, Shelby County, Al. Married 20 Nov 1839 in Alabama to Martha (Mills?) born 1817 in South Carolina. Died sometime after 1860. Jonathan's father was James Huckabee born 1795 in North Carolina, Died 1869 in Chilton county Alabama, married abt. 1 Jan 1827 to Catherine Clower born 27 Nov 1794 in Pennsyvalnia. Died 1853. Also married Elizabeth Clower 27 Feb 1827 in Bibb County, Al. She was born 1792 and died in 1844. That's as much as I've got. It has not been 100% documented as I have gathered and added info from other sources. Hopes this helps and if you aquire leads and/or documentaion, please forward them onto me. Thanks.
