A follow-up on Margaret Bradelew (1800-1890) and William Henry Hudelson (1802-1886)

Their children were:

John Leland (1826- )
Mary Catherine (Stevenson) (1827-1849)
James Thomas (1828- )
Ann Maria(h) Philadelphia (Hill) (1830-1920)
Jepthah Alexander (1832- )
William Henry (1835- )
Jane Montgomery (1837-1904)
Robert Samuel (1838-1839)
Rufus Irwin (1840-1904)
Margaret Elizabeth (Johnson) (1842-1863)
Sallie Bradley (1846- )

This recently-posted history of the Shiloh Cemetery, Rush Co., Indiana, has some interesting details:
http://www.hcgs.net/shiloh.html

The eldest 2 were born in Kentucky, and the others in Indiana -- probably all in Rush County, from 1828 on.

Indeed, the Knightstown Indiana burials, and Bourbon County Kentucky birthdates match the information we have on my great-great-great grandparents.

Their daughter, Ann Mariah Philadelphia Hudelson married William Penn Hill of Carthage, and later Knightsown, Indiana, where they made their home.

Margaret Bradley's parents were Thomas Bradley (1761-1824) and Philadelphia Ficklin (1768-1823). Her maternal grandparents were Thomas Ficklin (1738-1812) and Mary Herndon (1745-1816) The Ficklins were settlers at Bryan's Station Kentucky, and were there during a siege at the end of the Revolution, in 1782.

Hi! I am looking for a Emma Hudelson whom married a John Parsons. I have very little facts on her, but John was born around 1877 in Kentucky and then came to Illinois later.

She died after 1905 of pneumonia.

any information would be great. (I live in North Carolina, so going there isn't the simplest thing for me.)
My email address is hudelson8620@bellsouth.net.

Thak you for the offer. I now have quite a few of photos to share with anyone that is not near enough to go there and would like to see if I have one of interest to some one. Am willins to pass on to any one interested.

William Hudelson b 1802, Frankfort, KY

Looking again at some Hudelson records, I find a William Hudelson born 16 Jun 1802 in Frankfort, Franklin KY, died 27 Dec 1886 in Rush Co., IN. He married Margaret Bradley 2 Jun 1825 in Frankfort (she born 20 May 1800, the daughter of Thomas Bradley and Philadelphia Ficklin.)
My file says this William Hudelson was the third of six sons, and the fourth of seven children of John Montgomery Hudelson (b 1770 in Mifflin Co PA, m 11 Feb 1796 to Catherine Irwin (b. abt 1770 in PA, d 14 Feb 1851 in Henry Co, IN). John died 14 Feb 1851 in Henry Co, IN.
John was the first of two sons, and tghe third of four children of James Hudelson (also seen as Heddleston and possibly as Heedleston) and Jane Montgomery. James is said to have been born in 1736 (some records say in VA, some in PA and at least one says he may have been born in Ireland). Jane is said to have been born in 1739 in VA to Hugh Montgomery and Caroline Anderson. James died 1815 at Millersburg, Bourbon Co, KY and Jane died 1820, also at Millersburg.
According to land records found at Lexington, KY, James Hudelson, Alexander Hudelson (possibly James's younger son Alexander), and one Hance Hudelson owned land along the south bank of Hinckey creek, which separates Bourbon and Harrison Counties. (One suspects that this Hance Hudelson is the "Hanford" Hudelson mentioned elsewhere in this thread. His relationship to this James Hudelson is unknown to me.

Forgot to mention that Fannie Hudelson (and I) are from Series L of the Huddleston Family Tables. That is, we are descended from James Hudelson of Mifflin County, PA. Thus, the manuscript deals only with that line. Dave Hudelson

Fannie Hudelson's Manuscript

I am transcribing a manuscript written by a Fannie Hudelson, unmarried daughter of Frances Hudelson (b 1868, d 1870). Fannie died in 1928 in Indiana. I know of one other copy of this manuscript, which is in the Indiana State Library. The Library informs me that the manuscript comprises 529 numbered pages and 29 unnumbered pages, and is titled, "Hudelson Family History." I do not have that many pages, but believe I have most of the pages; it's slow going. All of them are badly faded and hard to read and transcribe. The copy I have is mostly typewritten, partly hand-written. I hope to put the manuscript onto a CD, and possibly print it to give copies to selected libraries. I have two questions: 1) Does anybody else have a copy of this manuscript? and 2) Who might be interested in receiving a CD copy of it when I finish my transcription?

Mr. Thomas, I just saw your 2000 posting to a Bill Huddleston in which you say that "Hudelson" is an Irish spelling of the name Huddlestone. I'm descended from a William Hudelson (Series L of George Huddleston's Family Tables), who married his cousin Ann Hudelson (var. Heddleston) in Cumberland Cty, PA in 1783. Many family records say William was born in Belfast in 1756, but his name in the Amer. Revolution was spelled Heddleston. His mother-in-law was Jane Montgomery, of the County Down Montgomery's --- who originally came from Ayreshire, Scotland.

I'd most appreciate any info you have about when Huddlestone's from Yorkshire, England might have moved to Ireland (presumably County Down or County Antrim) and adopted the spelling Hudelson. My 6xG Grandfather William Hudelson is a mystery. Thanks, Dave Hudelson

Ms. Comer, I'm descended from a William Hudelson, b. Belfast (?) 1756, Rev. War Veteran, died (?) Millersburg, Bourbon County, KY 1823. His wife was also his cousin, Ann Hudelson, with whom he had eight children. The family had moved there about 1796 from Mifflin County, PA, (they spelled their name HEDDLESTON in PA, but a deed transfer in 1805 says that William Hudelson was "presently of the state of Kentucky") and most of the family moved to Henry County, IN sometime in the mid-1820's (Ann Hudelson filed in 1829 for a Rev. War Widow's pension.)

According to one (unidentified) chronicler, this Wm Hudelson may be the same man who married Margaret Ficklin in Harrison Cty, KY in the 1820's, and eventually died in Ohio. This chronicler claimed that there is no evidence of a grave in Bourbon/Nicholas/Harrison Counties for Wm Hudelson, and the Ohio Hudelson's Rev. War record matches that of Ann Hudelson's spouse.
The LDS file on Wm Hudelson lists him with two wives (but no divorce) and no children by the second wife.

Don't know who were Wm Hudelson's parents, or when they came to America. Also don't know whether Ann Hudelson's father James Hudelson (married to Jane Montgomery) had brother who would have been William's father.

I notice that your 2004 posting was a response to a 1998 posting; is the author of that posting still using the board?

Dave Hudelson

I have a Charles Harvey Rose in my family tree, with his father being Andrew Jackson Rose. I do believe I even have a photo of this man. The photo was actually a post card that someone had cut years ago. All the writing that remains on the back is "rlie Rose" and "d Rose" I assume them to be Charlie (Charles) & Dillard Rose. If you would like to know more, get in touch. My Grandmother's, Grandfather was their brother Louis/Lewis Rose.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
Heather

I am looking for Frank Hudelson of Cary, North Carolina. He is a submitter of PAF information in familysearch.org.

I'm researching Ola May Gillespie and Charles Harvey Rose (born in Ozark, AR 1879?) and their sons Clyde Wesley Rose and Hoyt Millard Rose. Charles parents are Andrew Jackson Rose and Lucinda Ramsey.

I have not had contact before with Frank Hudelson but wanted to know his relationship as well as any other family that share these relatives with me.

Re: WIlliam Hudelson 1802 KY

Hi Sharon, Can you tell me any more about your Kentucky Hudelson, especially the names of those 11 children? And who was Willliam's father?

We know that there were several Hudelson/Huddleston families in Kentucky at about that time but I cannot merge your William with my family. I descend from David Huddleston, b. Belfast, ca. 1766 and married to Anna Long. They are said to have come to Nicholas County, KY in about 1802. They had a son named William, but he was William Long Hudelson born 8 Mar. 1808 at Carlisle, Nicholas Co. Kentucky, and he married Mary Ann Dickerson.

There was also a Hanford Huddleston who was in Bourbon and Nicholas Counties, but I don't find a matching William in that family either.

Need more information.

Thanks, Anne
