Sandra, I'm also at a roadblock for my husband's Hudgins ancestor, Marcus Dafayette Hudgins (b ca 1854 SC, m Mattie Axley (of TN) ca 1888 Oklahoma, d ca 1924-1925--place unknown). I know this isn't a match for you, but I thought we could exchange info if we ever run across each other's folks. Kate (Astoria, OR)

Hudgins his father was Marion Hudgins who we think was born in GA. possibly "Hall county GA." I have found a census where My G-grandfather Marion was living in McDowell county NC. and his mother was listed with him and she was listed as "Mary A. Ryfield" I cannot find anything on a marriage an wonder if 1- maybe she never married or 2- maybe she had remarried. If anyone has anything pertaining to these names please contact me. I will be forever greatful.Sandra Hudgins King

Emma Hudgins Cooper from South Carolina

I've been able to trace a few family members back pretty far, but I'm trying to move generation by generation now to fill in the blanks. Emma is one I've been search for everywhere!!!

She's either a Hudgins or a Hudgens. I know she was born in South Carolina about 1874. She married Ellette/Elliot Mattison Cooper (b. 1869), and had her first child in 1894.

children- Carrie Lee 1894
Arthur-1896
Dewey Alonzo (Lonnie)-1898 (d. 1970)

Elliot's parents were Leander Cooper and Julia Ann Simmons.

Any help would be great! Thanks!

Hudgins, Mason, Westong

I'm interested in a family from the 1860 census, Middlesex, Virginia, Saluda. Sarah Hudgins, age 30, Mary W Hudgins, age 8.12, Norrison(Norman) Mason, age 40, Maria Mason (we believe Ailsworth), age 40, Sarah E Mason, age 11, ME Mason, age 7, JN Mason, age 5, Matilda Weston, age 5. I am trying to determine ancestors of my gggrandparents, Norman and Maria Mason and if there is a relationship between Hudgins and the Mason/Ailsworth families, perhaps I can begin here. Does anyone have information available?
