Seth Hudson

There were three Seths; father b.1703,his son Seth[2] born 1726, and Seth b.1757. The counterfeiter [Seth1 or 2] died in Albany County, NY.1767. The problem with this is that both Seth 1 and 2 were alive after this date. I have been unable to locate any other Seths that would satisfy these dates. My thought is that there might have been an identity switch. After checking land records Seth 1 and his wife concluded land deals in the late 1760's;thus he probably was not the counterfeiter. If not then his son Seth 2 was the bandit; but he was alive in Williamstown with his second family in the late 1790 to early 1800's.Lydia is presumed to be his second wife, but only a guess.

BIG PROBLEM: was there a switch of identities with a comrade who came to visit Seth, caught the pox from him. Only one died was it the comrade or Seth- if it was the comrade and Seth was able to swap places with him then the rest is reasonably easy to explain.
Tour thoughts

Need information on David Hudson shown in the Cambria Co Pa census for 1860 Susquehanna Twp, age 25 b PA with wife Sarah age 21 b PA. Sarah possible maiden name O'Keif. Believe David died in the Civil War as there is a name David Hudson on the monument in Ebensburg. Sarah never shows up again in the census nor does any children. There is a rumor in the Lloyd family that she married Uriah Lloyd sometime after the death of her husband and she died before 1880 census as Uriah is then living with a brother with no wife.
Anything you can tell me will be greatly appreicated.
My grandfather James Hudson ( 1874-1949 ) and 9 brothers and sisters were all born in Northumberland , England, in the villages of Hauxley ( between Amble and Newcastle upon Tyne ) and Broomhill ( same area but slightly further inland ). Between 1886 and 1887 the family ( led by Mary Baird Hudson Douglas, my great-grandmother who had remarried George Douglas from Spittal on the River Tweed after her husband George's death in the late 1870's traveled to southwestern Pennsylvania and settled in Westmoreland County in and around the Borough of Irwin, 25 miles east of Pittsburgh. James Husdon married Anna Jane Jones and had two children, Harold Baird Hudson and Esther Florence Hudson. I am searching for any of the children of James' brothers and sisters and trying to find data on great-grandfather George's family in Northumberland. Any leads will be greatly appreciated.

More dead end Hudson's in Kent County, New Brunswick, Canada

Hello! I'm working through some of the more sparsely populated branches on my family tree and have found more than a few folks that are dead ends. Does anybody have any information on the following, from the Kent County area in New Brunswick, Canada:

1) William T Hudson (b: ~1865, d: ~1942), buried: Zion Presbyterian-West Branch, Kent County, NB, Canada. His parents were Andrew H Hudson (b: 10/8/1826, d: 11/22/1887) and Elizabeth Little (b: 1/1/1827, D: 6/2/1919).

2) His sister, Elizabeth (Margaret?) Hudson (b: 1864, d: ?) She MAY have married a James S Spencer around 1884 and had a child, William Frederick Spencer in 1885, but I'm not sure.

3) Details on the children of William Hudson (b: 10/19/1837, d: 11/22/1905) and Agnes Curwin (b: 9/27/1845, d: 1928). I believe their children were Margaret (1872), Ida (1874), Sarah (1877), Agnes E (1882), Herbert A (1882), "Jewell G" (1884) and Marjorie Hazelwood (1888)

I'm posting this in hopes that someone with one of those as a more direct ancestor will know more.
Andrew Hudson b. ~1796 in Yorkshire, England

Hello, I'm looking to connect my oldest researched paternal ancestor, an Andrew (A?) Hudson from Yorkshire, born ~1876. As far as I know he immigrated to Canada (Kent County, New Brunswick) before or after he married his wife, Mary Graham, around 1821. They had several children:

Child: Sarah Hudson (Born: 1822/4/27)
Child: John Hudson (Born: 1823/12/18)
Child: Andrew H Hudson (Born: 1826/10/8)
Child: Jane Hudson (Born: 1828/11/26)
Child: Elizabeth Hudson (Born: 1831/7/2)
Child: Mary Hudson (Born: 1833/9/9)
Child: Thomas Hudson (Born: 1835/10/9)
Child: William Hudson (Born: 1837/10/19)
Child: Eliza Ann Hudson (Born: 1840/6/19)
Child: Jonathan Dickinson Hudson (Born: 1843/11/1)
Child: Jessie Hudson (Born: 1848/12/18)

I was given some information about an Andrew Hudson born around that year in Patrick Brompton (Yorkshire) to a John Hudson and Elizabeth Brignall. I know it's a longshot that this is the same Andrew, but I'm having a tough time finding out when Andrew crossed the Atlantic to settle in New Brunswick Canada. Does anyone have any knowledge of this John/Elizabeth and whether any of their children emmigrated to Canada ~1820?

George Wiley Hudson & Clara Belle Faust

I'd love any information you have on these two people. Their son, Thomas Hugh "Bill" Hudson, is my husband's grandfather. The story we've always heard is Clara Belle died in childbirth. Wiley then married Norine Welch, who was previously married to Clara Belle's brother (?). Then Wiley just left and disappeared one day and was never heard from again. So...we don't know a lot about this side of his family. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hudsons from Harlan Co KY

Hi everyone. I am trying to trace my family line but I can only get as far as my grandparents. Was hoping I might luck out and find someone else who has my family tree already. I don't have much to go on because I do not speak to my father any longer and and have had very limited contact with any of his side of the family. Here is what limited information I have:
My name is James J Hudson (born 1978 Augusta, GA)

My Father is Ronald J Hudson
Born 1942 in Crummies, KY. Has 5 or 6 brothers. The only ones who's names I remember are Frank Hudson who lives near Ormond Beach, Florida now, and Ray Hudson who I have no information about. I believe a few of his siblings still live in the Harlan Co KY area... I visited them once when I was younger.
I have two sisters named Rhonda and Pamela Hudson. Rhonda has remarried and lives somewhere near Brunswick GA now. I am unsure about Pamela's whereabouts. I have a different mother than they do and I haven't spoken to either since 1998.

Grandparents
James Sydney Hudson -and- Lucille Hudson :
Unsure of DOB or birth place. I know they both lived in or near Crummies Kentucky until the 1970s or so and they Died in Ormond Beach FL appx 1980-1985. Grandfather was a coal miner (as I gather ALOT of people were.) The only thing I really know about my grandmother was that she was a painter. I still have a painting that she gave to me when I was very young but I think it was more of a hobby. I think her maiden name was Lucille Poindexter.. but not sure.

If anyone related to any of these people has done research on the family line I'd be very interested to talk to you and add myself on a distant limb!
Thanks
James J Hudson

Searching for early and ancestor info regarding Mary Ann (perhaps Polly/Polley) HUDSON/HUTSON who married John REID/REED in 1808 in Hancock Co., GA. The couple were Caucasian, and had many Reid/Reed children, probably all in GA. We believe they lived in Jasper and Upson counties (GA), and perhaps Coweta (those county boundaries changed over the years), then moved to Tallapoosa Co., AL around 1840. Happy to share info, including at least three well-researched descendant lines (Reid/Reed and Ray).

Bill Reid, reidw@reidpsychiatry.com

John Hutson/Hudson, Rachael Hudson Irwin, and the War of 1812

I've noticed many of the posts here regarding queries for John or Rachael Hudson are quite old (almost ten years in some cases) so I thought I'd start a new thread.

Rachael Hudson Irwin is quite the mystery, but based on other information I've found here at Ancestry in some recently-added databases, Rachael had a brother, John, who is apparently a veteran of the War of 1812. In fact, he seems to have been killed in action, as according to the US Land Bounty Warrants Index, John's War Bounty land grant was left to Rachael Irwin and any surviving heirs.

So now we know John and Rachael were siblings, and Rachael was already married to Samuel Irwin when she was left the War Bounty land.

Here's my query/question...maybe someone out there has a line on more information...

Specifically, I'm trying to find out more about John as an avenue to learning more about their parents. I have a number of hypotheses but nothing concrete.

I am looking for either a muster roll or a killed-in-action listing of some kind for the War of 1812, specifically the 3rd US Rifle Regiment, which was made up of several smaller regiments that were disbanded and reorganized into the 3rd. In the muster rolls, John may be listed as a private in either the 3rd US Rifle Regiment (not artillery, I made that mistake already) or possibly the 17th or 19th regiments. I believe the 17th was comprised of men from western TN, NC, and KY.

The 3rd US is listed as having fought at Chippawa and Lundy's Lane, and also at New Orleans...but I know they went through a couple reorganizations as casualties mounted.

I really just want to know what happened to John...see if I can find a birth year for him that might steer me toward parents or other siblings. I've done some Google searches, etc. and I have this feeling I'm getting close. I have my suspicions that there may have been a significant age gap between John and Rachael...maybe as much as 10 years. And that could indicate that they are half siblings...that their father was married twice. Rachael, to the best of my knowledge, had already been married to Sam Irwin for almost ten years when she was left John's war bounty lands. John apparently had no heirs that the government knew of other than his sister (i.e. no wife or children). My husband is somewhat of a war history buff and he said John could have enlisted as young as 15 or 16. Rachael would have been in her mid-20s by then (again, this is a big hypothetical!).

I also noticed that not too long after she was granted this land, Rachael and Sam Irwin and their 7 or 8 children headed west from NC. Son Robert was born in TN as the family was en route to IL. John's war bounty acreage (according to the War Bounty Land Records) would have been in the area that is now IL.

If there are any War of 1812 historians out there who might know where I can unearth some information about John Hutson/Hudson, it would be a huge help and I thank you in advance.

Ironically, I live in an area that played a pivotal role in the War of 1812. I'm going to see if the Resource Room or historians at Fort Meigs and Fallen Timbers might have some ideas, but if anyone here does, I'd love to hear them.

I am searching for information about Alexander Hudson who was born between 1790 and 1800. He was enumerated in the Alabama 1840 census in Marshall County. I suspect that he is the same person as the Alexander Hudson enumerated in the 1830 census in Anderson Co., SC. I believe that his wife was named Joanah and his daughter Mary. Mary married Asberry Henson in Marshall County in 1843.

Is anyone else researching this Alexander Hudson?

Lookin for the birth details of William HUDSON. I know he was born in the Manchester area round about 1831. His parents were Robert HUDSON and Rachel SHAW. He was Bapt in Warrington 21 July 1833. His father (and he eventually) ran a drapers shop in Warrington. Rachel was born in Warrington but don't know where Robert was born. Unable to find marriage of Robert and Rachel. I am fairly certain they were non conformists poss weslyan methodists. I know William was married in Friars Green Chapel, W'ton in 1862 to Lucy ROBINSON.
Any info gratefully received

My Great Grandmother was Esther Henry Hudson,
born about 1854 and married Joseph Crawford.
Her father was William Showello Hudson, born 1815.
He married Julia Powell in IL and died in Shelby
County IL. His father's name was William Hudson
and he was born around 1778 in Deleware or Maryland.
I believe his father was Lot Hudson. Does anyone
have any information on these names? I have just
started researching my family so not sure this is
all 100% accurate, but to the best of my knowledge
it is. Thank you.
