Don't know where to start. Nancy Huey, some say, married a Mr. Wren. She apparently then married a Robert Hagler, but in between she had a son by a Mr. Tommy John Gaddis. The sons name is Charles Marion. Nancy Hagler died in 1937
in Howard County Arkansas. Any insight on this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks'
Charles

Hello, golfnjune,

I'm not Barbara, but I'd like to correspond with you about this Huey family. Just today I have been trying to contact two people who have posted about this family some years ago. I'm hoping that they will get in touch with me. I am wondering if one could be you since the old name was SCJunebug?

I will try emailing you directly, but if you do not receive it, will you try contacting me through this board?

I am researching the Rev. Robert Huey who settled near Pittsburgh in 1773.

Thanks,
Laurie

Edwin Carlton Huey - Lady Lake, Florida

I am looking for information on Edwin Carlton Huey who lived in Lady Lake, Florida in the 1920-1930. I am a volunteer for the Lady Lake Historical Society and personally lived in Mr. Huey's house that he built in Lady Lake, Florida (where my parents still live). If you are a relative of Edwin Carlton Huey and have old photos of the house, water tower, property or family that would be a true treasure for us. I have current pictures of the house he built(which was modified in the 1940's & 50's) if anyone is interested.

I'm in Mount Clemens, Mi and Robert lives in Bowling Green, OH.

Susan is down in Sunrise, Florida. So is Aunt Ilene. Gary is in Michigan as well as Jackie and Pattie (Down was their maiden name so Uncle Red was Mr. Down. What his first name is I don't know. I only heard him referred to as Red. I haven't seen them in YEARS! Too many but you know how times gets away from you.

My Brother Larry is out of town right now so I'll have to wait until Monday to get Susan's and Gary's birthdays.
Will let you know when I get them!
I'd have to look up Uncle Red's last name. It's been so long I forgot it. I'll give you what I know and check in with my brother Larry. He has lots of dates and names and is much better at this than I. I happened across it by accident looking up a name for a character in a book I'm writing. Will get back with you on the dates and names after I get them from Larry.

Lawrence Allen Huey - October 12, 1945
Dennis Michael Huey - April 7, 1949
Marianne Louise Huey - April 13, 1951
Robert Wesley Huey - March 3, 1956

Dixie died at age three from diphtheria.

What was Veda's husband's name (you just called him "Uncle Red"). What about Dixie Joan? Did I have the rest of the stuff right?

Okay here goes: Charles Zedric Huey married Helen Caroline Steffy. Lawrence Allen Huey was born 1946; Dennis Michael Huey 1949; Marianne Louise Huey 1951 and Robert Wesley Huey 1956.

Eva Eileen Huey married Silverio Coppa. Gary Coppa and Susan Coppa (I forget her married name but she lives in Florida)are their children. Gary is close to my brother Larry's age and Susan is close to my brother Dennis' age.

Veda had Jackie (1951) and Pattie (I'm not sure on the year but she's a year or two younger than me 1951) Then Veda died of lupus and my Uncle Red remarried down the road.

I don't really know the other people well, just remembering hearing their names.

I don't know if you would like our children's name. If so let me know and I'll write them down for you.

Don't know anything about the Monfils family but I can hook you up with Nancy's and Daryl's emails and maybe they can supply more. I hope they don't mind me doing so but you are their Aunt.

Nancy is now Nancy Germond. Her email address is: NancyBobG@neo.rr.com and Daryl's is: (It's at work) dmonfils@marketingsource.com

This is about all I can do. Hope it helps!

Marianne
You are talking about my Uncle Kenny who married my father's sister, Aunt Betty. My father (now deceased) was Charles Zedric Huey. What information would you like about him? Why haven't you contacted his children, Nancy and Daryl? I just saw them this last spring when my Uncle Silver passed on and the only remaining member of my father's family is my Aunt Ilene Coppa(Eva Ilene Huey). Of course there's my brothers and I, Jackie and Patty, Gary and Susan and the wealth of children we've had and they are now having. Uncle Kenny died of an inoperable brain tumor. My Aunt from a blood clot. Let me know what I can do to help and if I can I will.

He married LAURA LOUVINE SUMNERS Abt. 1869. She was born 1852 in South Carolina, and died Aft. 1870.

Notes for WILLIAM H. CATHCART:
Obituary--Fairfield Herald of 15 December, 1875

Terrible Accident

It becomes our dity today to relate the circumstances and the fatal result of one of the saddest accidents that have ever occurred in this community. Mr. Wm. H. Cathcart, while hunting near town on Friday last, was wounded by the accidental discharge of his gun, and died in about twelve hours afterwards. The circumstances of the accident, as related by mr. H.A. Smith and Master John Gibson, who were present, as well as by the deceased himself, are as follows: Mr. Cathcart had just fired one barrel of his gun, and, standing upon a stump, was in the process of reloading, when the gun fell, the trigger of the loaded barrel striking upon the stump, and causing the discharge of the gun. Mr. Cathcart received a fearful wound in the left groin, and though the best medical skill was employed for his relief, his injury was too severegive any ground to expect his recovery. He was well cared for by his kindred and friends and his sufferings were alleviated in every possible way. He died at half past nine o'clock on Saturday morning, and his remains were interred on Sunday afternoon in the cemetery of the Associate Reformed Church, the funeral services being conducted by Rev. J.M. Todd. The large number present attested the esteem in which the deceased was held by hgis many friends, and the deep sympathy felt for his bereaved mother and large circle of relatives. Mr. Cathcart was in the prime of life, being about twenty-five years of age, and seemed to have the promise of a long and prosperous life. He was of kindly disposition, pleasant manners, and industrious habits. He was the only son of a widowed mother, and to her his untimely death is a most grievous affliction. With her and with his other relatives we condole.

More About WILLIAM H. CATHCART:
Burial: Bethel A.R.P. Hazlewood on 4 Dec 1821, but I am not sure where--Joshua was born 1800 in Virginia, but was found living in Lawrence Co. Alabama --based on the 1830 and 1840 census'. I also know that the couple lived in Missouri (at least in 1822) and Tennessee (at least from 1824-1827).
Thank you for any assistance!
According to the Huey Family History, compiled by V. Huey were twins, born Mar. 28, 1810, sons of Joseph Huey and ___ Franklin. Joseph served in the Revolutionary War with Generals Marion and Gates, and moved to Jefferson County AL in 1819.

You may be able to find these slim volumes in a library -- V. Hain Huey was born in 1900, but there may be more family around...

For more info e-mail me at mlaarons@yahoo.com.

My Hueys came from Ireland to NY State, later than yours, but I'm sure if you go back far enough we're all related.

Marianne Huey Aarons

Has anyone ever come across a Robert Huey in Co. Antrim, b ca 1791, mar Sarah Moore, had 7 children - all were in the US by 1848. Four children - James, Ellen, Nancy, and Archibald - were in SC; and Robert, Sarah, John, Jane, and Thomas went to Madison Co. NY ca 1855. I cannot locate exactly where Robert was born - I think the family eventually was in the Kilraghts Parish near Ballymoney.

My great grandfather was from the Castlederg area (born in a townland near the village of Killeter). I have a fair bit of information about Huey families in the townlands of Aughyaran, Altamullan, & Ardarver (all close together & mostly related)& some Griffiths (1860) & 1876 landholder information on Hueys from the townland of Aughafad in the district of Donemana. This area is about 20 miles up the road near Strabane. A Sproule family currently lives in the farmhouse where he & three prior generations were born/lived.

Hercules Huey's Adams Heirs ca 1775 Lancaster Co, SC

In attempting to sort out some of the Adams families of Lancaster Co, South Carolina, I am puzzled by many things, naturally, but I wonder whether anyone can tell me the status of the following tradition. Has it been verified, modified, or dismissed?

Hercules Huey made a LW&T in 1775 in Camden probate district and LW&Ts were kept at Camden, SC. After SC went to a county system in 1785, Camden fell into Lancaster County at first, but later became the seat of Kershaw County formed in 1791. As a result, early LW&Ts of Lancaster Co residents have become treated anachronistically as Kershaw Co wills.

Hercules Huey of Cain [Cane] Creek bequeathed "to My Well Beloved Wife Cattren Hughey and My Six Childer Alexander [in Ireland] John James and Arculeas Mary and Eleasebth all My Real and Personal Estates Shear and Shear a Like Except one Cow to My Son and Daughter Abraham and Margaret Adams.". Executors: Wife and John Crage and Justice Dun?

Once upon a time, I was on a visit to the York Co, SC, library at Rock Hill, SC, where I did a lot of photocopying, but not all the pages I should have. Anyway, I copied a transcription of an 1884 letter from James G L Huey to his cousin George which stated that James Adams's "mother lost her first husband in the old country and married a second time to a man named Abram Adams who came with her to America where both died some time after the peace with Great Britain was made and both lie buried in the grave yard at the old Waxhaw church, Lancaster District, S.C." The editor inserted " (See note 3 for proof that J.G.L. Huey had his facts confused here, Adams must have been her first husband.) I did not copy the page with "note 3", I regret. However, the absence of any Adams markers at Old Waxhaw and the presence of a marker for Hercules and Catherine makes the case. Elsewhere he says James came over before the Rev War whereas "his mother and family came over later." (I did not copy the page with "note 2" which accompanies the statement.)

If Abraham Adams and Margaret were children of Catherine (ca 1728-1808) by Abram Adams, then would they would likely have been born in the late 1740s or early 1750s and both adults in 1775. (I have not found consistency in the dates given for Herc's children.) Now, having been doing genealogy for a long time, I have often seen a cow as a token gift to a child. But to acknowledge an adult one usually gave a token sum of money, a few shillings or such. The LW&T is worded so that one cow would have been given to two grown persons. That's just an aside.

There was, in fact, one Abraham Adams who acquired land on a north branch of Flat creek between 1772-1775. He could have been the one named in the Huey LW&T. His land was sold by Abraham and James Adams of Chester District in 1802. One way to fit together various records is to place Abraham, James, and Jinnett Hacy Adams of Chester District, SC, by ca 1802, as children of Abraham Adams of Flat Creek and his wife Margaret. But this is now only a line of thought which may or may not turn to be worth pursuing.

Anything definite known?

All Best,

Don Maring
My grandfather thought it might be Willis.
Willis Joseph Huey was born abt 1843 or 1846 in Alabama and died sometime before 1900 in Colorado. I was told this story by my grandparents (Wallace was Josephs grandson): "Joseph was good at geology. He migrated to Colorado and worked in mines. He had been called away to work in another mine and was never seen or heard from again. The family returned to Lindale, TX. He is listed with his family on the 1885 Mesa Colorado census. His wife Clementine is listed on the 1900 census in Lindale, Smith, Texas as a widow."
Facts are: (1) listed as Joseph Hewey on 1880 US Census in Tom Green County, Texas (age 37) with Clementine and 2 children. (2) Listed as J H Huey on 1885 Colorado State Census with N C Huey and children. (3)Listed as W. H. Hughey on marriage certificate to Narcissus Clementine Fleming Apr 29, 1871. (4) Listed as Willis Huey on Lillie June Huey Thomas (daughter) Death Certificate. (5) Listed as Joe Huey on Gussie Lee Huey (son) death certificate.
(6) Had 6 children: William Amos Huey b. 1874, Carrie Ola Huey (Goodman) b. 1879, Lillie June Huey (Thomas) b. 1885, Gussie Lee Huey b. 1887, Dasie Huey (Vaughn) b.1883, Thomas "TT" Huey b.1881.
If anyone has any information about this Willis or Joseph or William Huey Please email me at shanblan4@gmail.com
