Daniel Hugg I had a son Daniel Hugg II and married into LANE family. They had children in Iuka Mississippi, some in Alabama and died in Arkansas. Daniel had sons: Including Grandon Godley Hugg, Edward Baxter Hugg,
and others. I am descended from Edward Baxter Hugg and his wife Lavicy Lane. My father and grandfather were born in Strawberry, Arkansas. Many are buried in Reeds Creek, Ark.
My public ANcestry web page is GROUP HUGG.

Then in 1860 she & John J HAMMETT are married & living in Georgia Military District,P.O. Box Springplace(Spring Place), Murray Co, GA.
Hi! Nina Draht was my Great Grandmother on my Father's side. My Grandmother was Florence Draht Hugg. Is that your Grandfather's Sister? I don't have much information on the Draht's unfortunately. It's been a roadblock for me. I do have a picture that my Uncle Paul Hugg sent me. I'm attaching that for you. Do you live in Elmira or that area?

Melanie

Melanie,
According to my info, the couple was William Sprague Hugg and Laura Nellie Lathrop. How did the name "Harry" come to you? Do you have some documentation? Maybe someone garbled "Sprague" for "Harry". The line I have from you to them is: William Henry, Lloyd William (whom I knew) then William Sprague.
If that's correct, then I can bust your brick wall.

I don't know if Steele has online searching. You might find their site using Google. They used to offer to do research for patrons, but for a fee. At that time they did not have any databases online.

I have captured some obits, and they are in my database. If you let me know of particular ones you're looking for I'll see if I have them.

Roy

I'm sure I could find obits there that would be very helpful in my search but since I live in AZ it's a little tough to do.

Thanks for any info you can give me.

Melanie

I had HUGG family members in Penn. Might be some connection. John Baptiste HUG (1819-abt 1865) and Victoria Louvet (1829-1910) had 9 children. Anthony, Jules, Louis, Ernstine, Alphonse, Henry, Anaias, Mathilda (my grandmother) and Julie. Jules died in Arnold PA, my grandmother in New Castle PA. Louis and Alphonse are buried in England. Have a few bits and pieces for the others.

Have tried to work closely with the newspaper that origionally posted the tombstone info.
The tombstone now, rests peacefully next to a big oak tree in the old Palmer Cemetery. In fact, yesterday, Nov. 15, I placed a small wreath next to it, so that no one should forget Christmas for this little girl. And, upon visual inspection of stone, have found that her parents were Jacob and Mary A. Hugg. Further dates are fairly obscured now. Hoping, she is resting peacefully and should have a nice Christmas. Bev.
Hopeing someone out there may be able to help me. I am not a relative, but have something interesting to help the Hugg family in Phila.
A tombstone was recently discovered in a playground, while doing some excavating. It was quite ledgeble::: reading Susan Hugg, d. 12-21-1850, and states she was 6 years old. Would like to put this in the best possible resting place, as work continues on playground.
I have searched the 1850 census here,(Kensington , Philadelphia Co, PhiladelphiaPa census) found in time frame:
Will Hugg in Kensington Ward 4, :: William Hugg in Kensington Ward 4 and Antoine in Kensington Ward 7. These are all here in Phila, as 'neighborhoods' today. Would love to get the issues straight, and help 'locate' this little ladies parents and siblings. Thank you for your time, you may email me directly beastinger@aol.com

Pat -

Thanks for the reply. In the years since that query, it's become very evident that my Hugg line is seperate, at least in the New World, from the John Hugg line.

My ancestors settled on the Delmarva Peninsula (most likely on Maryland's Eastern Shore) in the 1600's -- at around the time John Hugg arrived in New Jersey.

I've started an update on my website
(http://geocities.com/huggfamily/) that reflects this, and I've very recently moved my Research Journal to a blog at
http://hugg-genealogy.blogspot.com/

One of the things I'd like to do with my site is list researchers and sites that pertain to each of the Hugg families. I'll include your research information on the NJ Hugg page.

Thanks again for the reply. Best of luck on your genealogy research.

-S.D. Hugg

It's possible that Jugga/Jane is a distant relative of mine. My line of Hugg's seems to go back to the 17th century on the Delmarva Peninsula (between the Chesapeak and Delaware Bays).
I've heard that she was from northern Europe (Sweden, Denmark, something like that), which would make sense given the Swedish interest in Delaware.

Do you have any additional information on her? Esp. whether or not she came over with a father or brother.

E-mail me at huggsd@yahoo.com and I'll see what else I can dig up.
Denise -

It sounds like you may be on to something. As you've probably seen, the NJ Hugg line does have three generations of John Huggs, the later of which *could* fit into your timeline.

I'm particularly interested because my Hugg line also currently "fades out" with a Benjamin Hugg on the Delaware/MD border in the late 18th century.

I would very much like to learn more about your Benjamin Hugg and his family. Likewise, I'd like to offer you the information I have on Benjamin Hugg, the MD/DE Hugg and the NJ Hugg line. A good representation of the information is at http://www.geocities.com/huggfamily

Please contact me either via posting or directly at sdhugg@tcnj.edu

-Steve
