I have been researching the family of David Hughes (b. ca. 1831, Wales; d. 1897, New Orleans) and found that he was the brother of Louis C. Hughes (1842-1915), one-time governor of Arizona (see Wikipedia). With this additional information I was able to learn that they were the product of a broken home and that Louis had spent some time in an orphanage. I was able to find Louis in the 1850 census in an orphanage in Allegheny Co., Penn. and also found an Ancestral File record for the family of a Samuel Hughes (AFN:3M52-TH) and Elizabeth Edwards (d. 1843), in Allegheny Co. which included both David and Louis and ten other siblings, some of them impossible (e.g. b. 1845). Ancestral File is unsourced. So, if anyone has any sourced information about Samuel Hughes and Elizabeth Edwards, I would greatly appreciate your contacting me. Thanks!
