Alexander Humes (parents born in Ireland)

I am trying to research my grandmother's paternal ancestors. Her grandfather's name was Alexander Humes, b. ~1827 (he lived in the District of Columbia I believe) and he was married to either Mary M or Martha M. His parents were both born in Ireland. I would love to find out more information about this side of my family but seem to have hit a brick wall. Any info you can share would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Deb Thompson

Looking for father of Eva Pierce who married Michael Grant Hume

My great great grandmother, Mary E. Sisson(maiden name) married James Reed & then married unknown Pierce (possibly John?) who I believe was born in Indiana, but they were not married very long. (After unknown Pierce, she married unknown Wright & then Henderson Utley.) Mary Sisson Reed & unknown Pierce had only 1 child that I am aware - Eva Pierce, born 1876, Indiana. (Eva Pierce married Michael Grant Hume.) In my grandmother's photos was a picture of Ray Vaughn Pierce of New York, son of Duane Pierce & Mary Morse, so feel like my unknown Pierce family is somehow linked to the Duane Pierce lineage. If you have ANY information, please email me at dmoon-taylor@sbcglobal.net Thanks.

Norman Lyman Humes Sr.

I am looking for information on my husband's grandfather Norman Lyman Humes Sr. born 10-19-1910 in Cambridge Springs, Crawford, PA. His father was Forest Lyman Humes born 1-7-1884 in Crawford, PA. We know that he was married and had children with another woman in PA before he married my husband's grandmother Elizabeth Gunter. The children would be my husband's half-aunts & uncles. We do not know his first wife's name, but the children were George, Marilyn, James, & Eileen. We are told that he was kept from seeing them and they were possibly adopted by another man thus changing their last names. We believe they resided in the Wilkes-Barre, PA area, and they would have been born in the 1930's. Any info would be greatly appreciated as this is truly a missing piece of our family history.

Humes from Clay/Macon County TN

Looking for my great grandma Tressie Ann Humes b.1899 in Red Boiling Springs, TN (her obit says Clay County). Can find her name spelled 11 different ways in Kentucky birth records of her children but cannot find a single thing about her (birth, parents in census, etc).

According to my grandma, her parents were John Franklin Humes and Sarah Francis Murray. I've found info on Sarah Francis Murray but nothing on the Humes side at all. The name "Ivy" is also written on my paper...I'm thinking this was maybe her sister but not sure. Anyone have ANYTHING on this family at all?!

Thanks
Jamie

Hello Takima,
I am Darren Humes, if the information that is in your post is correct Alfred Humes might be my Grand Fathers first cousin. My Grand Father was Isaac Humes and he was from Vicksburg Mississippi, he moved to Peoria Illinois and was married to Mary Washington. If we are related try looking up the names; Baldrige, Bledsoe, Duck (as odd as it sounds), and Scott…good luck and I hope that you get this post.
Home/Hume DNA Project

Announced by Clan Home Association:

Great news - at last we have got the go-ahead for a specific Home/Hume DNA project. May I urge you to go to the project website run by FamilyTree DNA at:

http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.aspx?code=A88261&a...

Follow the website directions for enrolling; you will notice that there are various membership options according to the complexity you wish regarding the number of Y-chromosome counts. A reminder that it is a male-only project, I'm afraid. I recommend that you take the group option of the 25 male marker test, but of course you can go for the larger ones if you wish. I think this project is an exciting development for the Clan Home Association and hopefully it will also encourage more new members.

Ian Maitland Hume, Convenor
