George William Humpherys is also my great grandfather. My grandmother is Nellie Mae Thomas. I have done some research and I have not been able to find anything on Katherine Weibel. My grandfather is Frank Humpherys, born from George and Nellie Mae. I do not know much about them as my grandfather died when my father was 4.

Seeking Parents of Amanda "Moody", "Sis" Moody Humphreys of AR.

Hi, Humphreys Relatives,

My name is Wally Caviness of Bellingham, Washington and I am seeking the parents of my great grandmother Amanda Moody Humphreys wife of Francis Marion Humphreys of the Mammonth Springs, Arkansas area on the Spring River.

Amanda might be her middle name and Sarah might be her surname as my greatmothers name (her daughter) is Sarah Etta Mae Humphreys Evans.

Amanda was born in 1854 and died in 1939. She married Francis Marion Humphreys on 24 Oct. 1875 in Rowuoka Township, Randolph Co. AR.

Both are buried in the Shilo Cem., 15 miles south of Mammoth Springs, AR on Hwy.289. Their daughter Sarah Humphreys Evans and their grandson Perry Evans b. 1902-1904(Sarah's son) are buried next to them. I had a paranormal experience after visiting the tombstones in Oct. of 2005.

Amanda and Francis had four children, Sarah Etta Mae, Leila, Arch and Crow.

Sarah Etta Mae Humphreys was born 12 May 1884 and died 10 Nov. 1909. She married Robert Wiley Evans who was b. 22 Aug., 1879 and died 31 Oct. 1947 in San Bernardino, CA.

I just recently came in contact with the daughter and granddaughter of Arch Humphreys. They are Bonnie Bolding of Midwest City, Oklahoma and her daughter Carol Shambour.

Erma Humphreys, a great niece of Francis Marion Humphrey wrote a book titled DOWN ON THE FARM in 1976. She mentions her Francis and Amanda "SiS" on pages 18 and 19. There is a picture of Francis and Amanda in the index. Amanda is smoking her corncob pipe.

i am looking for any information concerning my grandmother's side of the family. her name was lou, anna lousie humphrey. she was married to h. g. lamar and later on she was married to archie chambers. she lived in texas then arkansas and died in arkansas and was buried in belton texas. i believe her parents names were samuel f (d) and elizabeth. i know that she had a brother paul and two sisters dona (burke) lera(rogers) all lived in texas. aunt dona had three children lloyd and floyd they were twins, and a daughter named dimple.

You are Mary's grand daughter. How are you? Lola (Echols)Humphreys brother was my grandpa. He was the only boy of that family. I have been researching the Echols for awhile.

Thank you for replying to the message board. This is a wonderful tool to use to help find other family members. Did you see that Valerie and Richard Humphreys had replied to this posting also. They are more cousins kin to Hubert and Lola Humphreys.
I went to see them last Sept in Lancaster, CA. They did not much about your grandma Mary. Could not tell me how may times she had married and did not know any of her husbands names. So I do not have much on Mary at all. Her birthday was May 28, 1934 born in OK somewhere. Possible Apache. I don't know any children she had. But when you told me that she was in Lancaster I went to hunting. I did manage to find her death date and last name. It was POLF died July 5, 1993. she was 59. But can't seem to find a whole lot more.

found out the family name is really HUMPHREY. The boys included Ira, Earl, John Boyce, Clarence Leroy, and Ralph.

I am looking for William J. Humphrey born in Renssalaer County (1822-1868) that lived at Kasoag, NY Oswego County with son-in-law William J. and his wife Martha Humphrey Dodge. William J. Humphrey settled Town of Williamstown in 1848 and built a trading post.
W. H. had two sons that lived at Kasoag, George and James Humphrey both from Albany.

I was surprised to get such a quick response. Unfortunately I can't give you much information on Mary. I wasn't very close to her, she had a very eccentric lifestyle. She had four children. The oldest is Danny, twins Charlotte and my dad Mike, and her favorite Angie. She had several strokes before she finally passed so she developed dementia and didn't remember anyone years before she died. My Aunt Angie was the major caregiver for her and she would have a lot more information about her. I do know that Lola and Hubert did most of the raising of my dad and their legacy to follow your heart is strong even in my generation. Grandma Mary was cremated and her ashes are in a Lancaster cemetery. I will get more info for you. She was married so many times I'm not sure what her last name was when she passed. I would like more information on my grandfather "Bud" Lovell if your family may have known anything about him that would help. I also wondered what if any Native American Lola may have been? Lola and Hubert are my great grandparents. Their daughter Mary Humphreys is my grandma and her son Michael Lovell is my dad. I remember Lola even though I was 5 years old when she died. She watched me alot when I was little and she used to have me chase imaginary mice around the house. She was a very fun woman.

Born 1854 died 1939

I am not related to the Humphrey/Hupheries family but I bought a journal a few years ago written by Winifred Humphrey. The family lived in Michigan but wintered in Sarasota, Florida. The book is a multi-faceted book of rieceps, gossip, travel info and a complaint format. It starts just b/4 WW2 and goes for a year or 2.
I hadn't read it in a long while but just started to yesterday.
This journal is connected to my area because the daughter of the author married a man from Southwest MO.

I'm also a decendent of Samuel Humpherys and Mary Ann Clifton. There oldest son Samuel George Humpherys m. Christina Josephina Wilhilemina Sorensen. m. July 3, 1902, in Paris, Bearlake, ID. They had a daughter Imogene Humpherys, which was legally changed to Jean. she m. Julian James Gunderson.They had Lois Jean and Barbara Jean, and James Julian.(my father)
I also have a Humpherys Family Book that has pictures of Samuel and his 2 wives.

I am a direct decendant of Thomas Humpherys and Mary Ann Sudbury. They had a child Samuel Humpheyrs Born Jan 31, 1846 in Mansfield, England, Died Nov. 23, 1929 in Wardborough, Idaho. Samuel married Martha Hannah Clifton, and they had Oliver Humpherys who was married to Alba Leah Jensen and they had my Grandfather Rayo Oliver Humpherys. Maybe we can make a connection.

Six children born of this marriage: three females and three males. My Grandfather passed away while my Grandmother was pregnant with the youngest in 1945-46. John, I'd be interested in what you have to contribute. What line do you decend from ? Much has been written about the Samuel family and the John James family. The George Sudbury family has less written history, that I know of, other than the life history he and his daughter wrote after he'd lived in Bear Lake Valley for a time. And I decend through his son George William who moved to the Shelley/Idaho Falls area in 1900. It is this family in particular that I have so little information on. Any help?

Samuel was George Sudbury Humpherys' brother. Didn't Sam have a daughter Vinnie Humpherys? I too have the Humpherys Family Book, the big blue book. George S.'s son George William (Will) moved from Paris in 1900 to Shelley Id and had 12 children with his wife Katherine Weibel. She then died and he remarried, having 6 more children. My interest is in Will and Katherine and what their lives and character was like. I don't know of anything written about them. If anyone has pictures or written history or any bits of information about them, I'd love to see it. "Will" is my great-grandfather.

Looking for family of John W. and Margaret Finn Humphreys. They lived for a while in Jackson County, Ohio. Around the 1880's or 1890's.

They had 4 boys, don't know the names. They ended up settling somewhere near Akron. [1900 on]

I have lots of family history to share. Have a few unanswered questions that this side of the family could help with. Have found the Finn family.

Im looking for brothers and sisters of john cadwalader humphreys. they where in the 1901 census then i dont know anymore.
But i do know about his older brother Percy Lloyd Humphreys
who died in ww1. dont know if he married or not, he was born 17th february 1882 llanfair an died july 1917 in belguim.

He had a sister Marion E Humphreys. born 13 june 1887 llanfair. and thats all i know ,

Then there are the twins Hyrul and Blodwyn born on 28 june 1894 dont know any more about them either.

He was married to Ada Minnie Lee RUSSOM ( 18 Aug 1878 / 18 Nov 1917 ) who is buried in Cane Island Cemetery , Lake City , Craighead County , Arkansas under the name of McFarlin ( her second husband.) . I just went back to my home state of Michigan. I visited my Aunt (86) and she gave me some info on my family. This is what I've learned.
Great Grandfather-George
Great Grandmother-Vader(Cherokee Indian)
Children were, Walter, John (wife Pearl), Moss, Erma, Elsie (Evans), Alberta, Thelma, Gladys, Laverne (Williams).
Walter was my grandfather married to Alma Lee McKinley and their children were;
Alice Lavada (married J.B.Morgan), Moss Alfred, Robert Walter (my Dad married to Lillian I. Taylor), Minerva Sue, John Albert(married to Sally Bartalotta) and Franklin Delano Roosevelt (Uncle Bud married to Faye McKinney).
On my Grandmother's side (McKinley) her parents were;
Minerva and Albert McKinley and Arthur and Ruby Holland.
If anyone can connect to any of these people please contact me at nanajo@earthlink.net. We have connections to Clinton, Kentucky, Michigan, Tennessee and I've heard Texas mentioned.
My Mom Lillian Inez Taylor (passed away April 12, 2004) was born in Akron, Ohio and her Dad was a Southern Baptist Minister mostly in Kentucky. Her Mom was Ruth Azilee Lawrence.

I am researching Humphries from the London areas of Hammersmith and Putney (1800+) and later Croydon (1940s and 1950s). My line have been listed in censuses and parish registers et al under the variant spelling of Humphreys as well.
My 3 x great-grandfather was baptised in Hammersmith in 1829, son of (Richard) John Humphreys and Ann (formerly ROGERS).
I am stuck trying to trace John and Ann's baptisms and further back. John gave his name in registers as Richard and John, (which I have discovered was common for this family line to use their middle name as their first name and vice versa, making tracing them very challenging to say the least!).
Anyone who can help or knows of this family line?

HELLO my name is Rebecca Mitchell i am looking for a connection with my great grandmother whos surname was Humphries.she had a son born out of wedlock in Atlanta,TX-CASS CO. in 1898 she named him Elzie Acy Mitchell,i just recently found out that no one of even his own children know what his fathers name really is,but it is certain of his mothers last name,i remember her being in his home in the early sixties,my grandfather Elzie acy mitchell married Bertha Mae Nelson in 1918,they had 8 children who where born in Louisiana 2,Ark.3 and 3 in TX thry had children in gillam,la,El Dorado,Union CO.
