I have information on a Shade or Shadrick C. Humphries. He was born March 1836 in either in GA. A S.C. Humphries at the age of 24 enlisted on September 25th, 1861 in Person County, North Carolina as a Corporal. On October 29th, 1861 he mustered into "E" Co. North Carolina 35th Infantry. He became a Comm. Sergeant on August 27th, 1864. He lasted through the war and surrendered on April 9th, 1865 at Appomattox Court House, Virginia. I am not sure whether this is Shade or not. Shade married a Mary Jane Murphy possibly in Alabama. They had a son William Shade Humphries born August 1873. I got my information on Shade after the Civil War from a Richard A. Rainey in 1997. My husband’s family is descendant from Shade’s Great-Uncle James Humphries
