Deborah - was reading your post from April 8, 2008 and noticed that you mention a grand-daughter of John Humphries: Mary Ann Humphries. I have been trying (in vain) to locate information on a Mary A Humphries who married Charles Griffith in Alexandria VA in 1862. He was there due to the Civil War. This Mary has claimed to be born in Virginia, Maryland and PA. And her birth year could be any where from 1838 and 1841 ish. She could have also had Cherokee background.
