Looking for info on Richard HUNE who married Kate Gottsacker on 5 August 1884 in Mitchell Co.KS by Rev. Aloys Malin. Question if he is the same Richard Hune that is listed in the Oregon death index #2136 that died in Portland 11 Sept 1923. There is a strong possibility that my great-great-grandmother Mary Josephine Gottsacker was a sister to Kate, as census records show that she had a sister, but her name was Catherine. Would be willing to share info that I have with others.

HUNE, Casper

I too am looking for info on a Casper Hune. His father was Richard H. Hune, and mother was Kate Gottsacker (step mother was Elizabeth Mary Lambertz. Casper would have been born between 1884 and 1889. The first date was when his parents were married, and the second was when his mother died, and she died pregnant, so it probably was more like 1888 or before. According to another researcher, Casper has another brother, Frederick. Birth date would have been in the
same time period. They reportedly have several half siblings, of which I have no info on yet. Richard Hune was born in Germany and Kate's parents were born in Germany, although she is believed to have been born in Wisconsin. The given name of Casper was given to three men, all decendents of the Gottsackers (Casper Gottsacker, Casper Warmuth and Casper Hune). Would like to hear from you and more info on your connection. I don't know that much about the Hunes. I do know that they were my great great grand parents and were born in Germany. I'm not sure what part. My great grand father was Casper (Buck) Hune and he and my grand mother Ethel Startup lived on the East Coast of the USA. My mother doesn't know alot about them since she was so young when Buck passed away.

I'm intrested on any inf. on Casper Hune his nick name was Buck. He was my grandfather who passed away when my mom was a young girl. He was married to Ethel Grace Startup. I know his name is German, I think I heard that his mother father were born in Germany.
