My husbands paternal grandmother was Gladys Hunkin, she was born in Tasmania Australia in 1889. Her grandfather Joseph and great grandfather John were both born in Marazion Cornwall England. Thank you, Sharna. Our ancestors were from the Marazion area and as yet a complete connection to the Megavissey Hunkins has yet to be proved I am told. I will keep your Fathers email address and contact him shortly. Again thankyou. Regards Sheryl

I am a direct descendant of the Mevagissey Hunkin's. My father is Geoffrey Gilbert Hunkin ( deceased-1988).
I presently live in Texas, USA.
My Father had a copy of the family tree from the late 1500's, but I am not sure where it is. There may be a Robert or Richard Hunkin that was on the internet that may have more information.

Thankyou Geoff, Yes I have already been in touch with Richard. We are from the other branch of Hunkins are and still trying to connect our ancestor to the Mevagissey tree. Our tree seems to start with Phillip Hunkin abt 1699 where he came from is an issue. It is believed that he came from the Mevagissey branch but no one seems to be able to actually prove that. He was married in Marazion. Anyway thanks for being interested and your lines of possible help. Sheryl

My grandfather was Leonard Vivian Hunkin, born in LeFroy Tasmania, and he had a sister Gladys. His mother and father were from Mevagissey Cornwall. His father was Joseph and he married Elma Edwards. It was a large family and my grandfather had many other sisters and brothers, namely, Leslie, Lorna, Elma, Blanche, Percy, and others. The other names mentioned from Joseph's family are Eva, Fanny, Emma and Alfred. My mother has some information on the family that she discovered in Moonta, South Australia. If anyone reads this I would be really happy to hear from them. My email address is atherton@arcom.com.au
