I believe that I found her father, Henry (Heinrich) Hunsicker. Born August 1826, in Germany, immigrated to the US in 1854. Still interested in Pauline's mother, and ancestors of Pauline's parents.

I'm looking for my grandmother's parents or siblings. She was born in St. Louis Missouri, and married George Erbs. They had 9 children, most of whom lived in St. Louis. My mother, Anita, was the only one who moved away. My only living aunt only knows that her mother's maiden name was Hunsicker, but does not know who her parents were.

While researching for the Wikipedia entry, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otto_Frederick_Hunziker, I found the following persons with related surnames listed in Purdue yearbooks.

1905 Debris (Purdue University yearbook, Vol 17)
http://e-archives.lib.purdue.edu/u?/debris,9618
Page 111
Samuel Madison Hunsicker, "Sam," Mulberry, Ind.
B. S. in M. E.
Thesis—Tests of a Rider Hot Air Pumping Engine Under Varying Discharge Head.
"Sam" has shot hot air so much around the University that it has become a specialty of his, and so he has pursued his favorite line of work, as can be seen from his above Thesis. He is another one of "Jimmie's" prodigies, having succeeded in working a graft early in his Junior year.
(photo of Hunsicker)

1906 Debris, Vol 18
Page 322
http://e-archives.lib.purdue.edu/u?/debris,9393
C. But once out with the boys, he is one of the best of "good fellows." During the past year he has added Ladies' Hall to his regular calling list. But in spite of such a handicap, he is finishing strong, right with bunch.
Entry has photo
P. 305
C. R. During his Freshman year he learned to make one cope answer for four patterns and this characteristic followed him through college. If he can't find an easy snap he will likely make one, for his originality has never been known to fail him.

I have very little on him or his wife, Maria. My source on Jacob is the will of Henry Gerber, Maria's father, her father was Henry Gerber 1769-1835 and mother was Maria Magdelena Dietrich abt 1774- . I have is dates at about 1812- abt 1882 but no source for that so I can't swear to it. I don't have any children listed since they are a collateral line for me.

Jeff

My Grandparents are Honsicker. I am told the name was originally Hunsicker. They are also from Kansas. I would say it is a relation. Grandpa is from Arma Kansas, He did talk alot about Ft Scott. So, Arma Kansas may be a good place to look. I have tried to find info, but I see the Honsicker name is not popular. They have few if any living relitives in the Pittsburg Ks area, that may also be a good place to look. I have a tape Grandpa made about some of his family. People wanted him to write a book, and wish he did, he knew so much about the family. His mothers maiden name was Goodwin. I do not know when the name spelling changed, Grandma said they did it because it is German. Grandma is still living, she is 93. She dont remeber those things. I haope this helps. Girard Kansas is also a good place to look. I dont know if you are close enough to go to the courthouse and look through deed records, you may find some good info. Grandpa talked alot about the Goodwins, but very little about Honsicker side. He talked of the Dalton Gang, which his Grandpa Goodwin was a marshal and was there when they was caught in Coffeville. Good luck, I hope this helps. You are welcome to email me at, addington73@hotmail.com

I have some information on a William Hunsicker. He died in Wausau, WI. Did the person you are looking for live in Wausau too? His wife's name is recorded several ways--Emilie, Amilia, and Amelia. I do not have the same children as you though.

William had two brothers who lived here too--Ernst Carl and Herman Wilhelm Julius.

I can check in the Wood County records if you'd like. Let me know. I have a few more days before school starts and could go there for information.

Susie

Susan,

Sometime ago I found then lost a connection that showed Valentine Hunsicker's family going back to Johannes Hunziker in 1485. In the 1600s in Switzerland, Mechior Hunziker changed his surname to Hunsicker. Do you have any information about this? I'd love to know if there is documentation showing this name change. I believe the connection was thru a family tree or message board by the name of Zelner. Being fairly new at this tracing business, I didn't write down the path, and couldn't find it again.

Some Descendants of Johannes Hunsicker (1722-1800)

Casper Hunsicker, born about 1759, s/o Johannes Hunsicker, was not married to Susanna Best. Casper, s/o Johannes was married to a Margaretha ___. Casper (Sr.) died before 1819 some time. It was their son Casper Jr., born 23 Aug 1786, died in 1847, who was married to Susanna Best. The Anniversary History of Lehigh County PA published in 1914 is the source of this often repeated error. On pages 594 and 600 of the Hunsicker Family article you can see paragraphs discussing Casper (Sr.) and Casper (Jr.). On page 594 they incorrectly list the wife of Casper (Sr.) as being Susanna Best. In addition the two children of Casper (Jr.), Stephen and Maricha, are wrongly repeated there on page 594 as being the chidren of Casper (Sr.) too. That is not correct. Casper Hunsicker (Jr.) is correctly reported as being married to Susanna Best on page 600 of the same article, with two children, Stephen and Maricha. Some people try to reconcile this confusing information by giving Susanna Best an additional given name, i.e., Suanna Margaretha Best. That is wrong too. From my research she was only Susanna Best and was married to Casper (Jr.), not Casper (Sr.). If one studies the local church baptism records and cemetery records, estate records in the Lehigh Co PA courthouse in Allentown PA, the census records for the periods, and carefully reads the two paragraphs on page 594 and 600 respectively in the county history, one can see that the information on page 594 as to the name of the wife of Casper (Sr.) is not Susanna Best, and Stephen and Maricha were not the children of Casper (Sr.). Also see PA Births Lehigh Co, Humphrey, pub. 1992.

See this webpage for more information and details:
http://www.kerchner.com/des1671.htm

Charles
http://www.kerchner.com/contact.htm

Henninger and James married Mary Hannah Schrader. I am related to Schrader's as well through my Mother's line. The only other information I have on these three is Charles is born 18 Aug 1878.
Donald, grandson of Kattie Reynolds Still

I am looking for Donad Hunsicker. I am related to Kattie's Reynolds line. I have a picture that we are trying to identify and believe it to be the grandson that Kattie raised. The 1930 census listed a Donald Hunsicker as grandson.
I am trying to find more info on the life and Charles and Kattie Still to add to my genealogy records. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Susan,

I too come from the Hunsicker/Kolbs. We have traced the family back to Zurich, SW in 1485. It appears the family name was changed by Melchior around 1625 from Hunziker to Hunsicker.

We just had a family reunion in California for descendants of Abraham Hunsicker and are wondering if there are any plans for a future reunion in Pennsylvania? Also, we are in the preliminary planning stage for another reunion to be held in Ft. Scott, Kansas in 2006 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of my grandparents wedding (James C. - s.o. Abraham, and Mamie Wise).

Look forward to more family info. I live in Sunnyvale, CA but was born in Ft. Scott.

Elaine (Hunsicker) deSouza
