Okay, can anyone please solve the mystery of these two "mirror" families in the same town, 1860???

Yes, I know that the parents' ages are different. My ancestor is Daniel Bradbury Hunter, the one-year-old. His parents are Jacob Bradbury Hunter and Rebecca Downing. I believe his family is the first, but the creepiness of this "mirror" family is disturbing--who is this family? why are their childrens' names so similar (DBH's sister is Susannah Melissa), and where do these Hunters fit in with the rest of the Hunter family? Cousins? What? And why can I not find this other family anywhere else? JB's wife Rebecca died of measles in 1870(Mortality Schedule--which explains why many Trees on Ancestry have Rebecca Downing's death in 1870--which is wrong), but I cannot find her surviving family anywhere. My Jacob, Rebecca and son Daniel are in the 1870 Census, but their name was incorrectly recorded as "Hunt". These two families are interchanged in many Trees...

Solution anyone?
