I believe that the william Huntsman to whom you refer is the son of Charles Huntsman also living in Taylor Co. Charles H. was in Van Bauren Co. Iowa in 1860 census it shows a son William born in Missouri thats 6 years old. He is'nt Caroline's son though. In the 1870 census for Taylor co. Iowa they have intials W.M. age 16. I also came across the 1885 census for (statecensus) where he is still living with the Garrisons.Someone has posted pics of Janette (Garrison) Huntsman's son on ancestry. They are related, Charles and my great grandfather were brothers.Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info! If you would like to contact me, my names is Jennifer Lamison (email: petluv51@cox.net). Lorenzo Dow Huntsman (bro to JA Huntsman) was my GGGrandfather. JA Huntsman's family seems to create a lot of questions. I live in Las Vegas and have visited the cemetery in Austin where two of his wives are buried. I plan a trip up there again after the summer to do research on him. I understand that his records have been pretty well picked over (and pinched) by previous family members back in the 1970's, but I'll see what I can find. No one has found HIS grave site yet. Strange he's not in his Huntsman family plot in Austin. I took pictures of the plot. PLEASE help me with any info you find. What do you need from me. I have lots from 16 year of genealogy research between my mother and I.

Thank you,
Jennifer

Dow Huntsman or DL Huntsman who was murdered in Hawaii wrote about his relation to Benjamin Huntsman at some point. Someone in my family has the letter/article or at least copies of it. Along with articles from the Hawaiian paper concerning Dows death and pics of his head stone, I'm told. They also have copies of the Letters to Bertie Mae Huntsman from JA. Huntsman. Where he asks her to come and live with him and his then wife Alice. He talks about Dows death, I believe he says in the letter that his wife Alice has never had children. To my knowledge Bertie never went and lived with them. We also are not clear on if Dow ever actually married Berties mother, Her name was Elizabeth Watkins and she was married several times. As she lived a long time and her husbands all died. I'll get copies for you of what I have when I have more time to work on this and track down who actually has the letters etc. Right now I have just had a few hours here and there usually late at night to work on it a bit. Just trying to figure out myself, matching up the dates and confirming just how the family dates back to Benjamin Huntsman, As I am not for sure how many generations exactly it is.

JA did have a son Dow Lee, thus DL. He, JA was married at least three times as far as I know. Dow Lee was raised by grandparents. They had the last name Welsh or Walsh. He(JA) had a wife named Gertrude Bradley that died in child birth in Austin Nv. Then he(JA) married Alice Bonner. They didn't have children, she died in Austin Nv. also. The child that was born to Gertrude was Gertrude M. Huntsman she was raised by her grandparents in Taylor Co. Iowa they later moved to Kansas. I believe Dow Lee had a sister named Ida M. but I haven't been able to trace her. I don't know if it's her or Gertrude thats in the pic. of JA and Alice, it says Martha, but this family often went by their middle names.

Huntsman Annals and Ralston

This is a long shot. The Huntsman Annals contains information on the Ralston family and implies that Lamond Welcome Huntsman had additional information.

In the 1930’s a number of annual Ralston Family reunions where held primarily in Ohio. These reunions were documented in “The Andrew Ralston Annals" published from 1930 to at least 1941. Lewis Clark Walkinshaw, a Pennsylvanian Historian, edited the Annals until his death in 1939. The 1941 issue was edited by Myrtle Walkinshaw Shupe. The Annals made reference to a "History of the Ralston Family" being compiled by Lewis Walkinshaw, using inputs of the reunion attendees. In 1934 the Oberlin Printing Company of Oberlin, Ohio, printed a draft copy of this history.

Printing of the History was to be funded by contributions from reunion attendees. It appears that this history was never published due to lack of funds.

Does anyone have any information on what happened to this “History of the Ralston Family”?

Bill Pinkley

.

Clark: can you give me a source where you found the birth date as 19 Sep 1740 in England for James Huntsman? I have a date for his father who was also, James, (there were a lot of them)! as 1714 of Northumberland, Pennsylvania. I am trying to figure out if our James born in England really was born there. If so was his father also born in England? Do you have this info? My husband's line is from Jesse's brother James Jr. who married Maria Catherine Weyrick (Wirick). They were Mormon pioneers and helped settle Fillmore, Millard Co., Utah. Their son Isaiah married Rebecca Carter Ames and Emma Melissa Jewel King. Lot's of Huntsman's in Utah.

Hello fellow Huntsmans and researchers. I am trying to figure out my gr.gr.gr. grandmothers ancestry. I have scoured the family trees here in rootsweb and am overwhelmed with different information. My gr.gr.gr. grandmother is listed as Elizabeth Catherine Huntsman who married Jacob H Potts. I have much info on the Potts line, but am so confused on Catherine's line. I am understanding that James had several wives, and about 22 children. Does anyone out there actually know which child belongs to who? My Catherine's mother was listed as Maria Catherine Weyrich. I have started my research with her sister, Deborah who had married a Peter Wirick. Anybody in this line of James H and Maria Huntsman please contact me. Thanks ever so much...
Sharon Corcoran of Buchanan Co. Iowa
corcoran@jtt.net

I am looking for information on Elizabeth Spaulding (1778-?), a wife of Peter Huntsman.

I am seeking information on her death and burial. She is listed in the 1860 US Census in Kaysville, Davis Co., Utah. Her age at this time would have been 82. She was baptised by proxy on July 5, 1871. I am not Mormon and cannot access her church records. I would like to out who performed the baptism by proxy.

I am assuming that she died sometime between 1860 and 1871 in Kaysville, but cannot find any record of this.

In 1850 she was living in District 21, Pollawattamie, Iowa with Thomas Green and his wife Many ann Huntsman and a 5 month old child. Mary Ann Huntsman is the child of Peter Huntsman.

If any one can help me find out more information or whom I can contact I would appreciate it.

I also descend from a Huntsman-Cole marriage of family in Allen Co KY. Alexander Huntsman b 1830 Allen Co KY m Mary A Cole, daughter of William Cole. I have found very little about this couple except there dau. Imia Jane Huntsman m William H Dial 1869 posibly in KY this is my line.

I found where this couple burried a child in Allen Co and then must have joined Imia Jane and Wm Dial in Hamilton Co Illinois. I found them in one census in Hamilton Co with another child named Samuel Huntsman. They seemed to disapear after that one census but believe all three died in one of the diseases that hit the area hard about that time.

Sure would like to exchange information with any one with knowledge of this family of Huntsman.

The info I have I think I received from your family. But some of my research through census reports mostly, has Dow Lee being raised by grandparents with the last name of Walsh. He was born during the civil war so I think they moved alot. John A. his father, was born in Pa. and had an older brother Charles R. and Lorenzo Dow, William Bates, the later was my greatgrandfather. They also had a sister Martha. You are welcome to contact me through e-mail. I would love to compare. My mother was contacted by Alberta Gaines.
