My mother is Bernice Hupke Stousland, daughter of William Edward Albert Hupke (born 1889, died 1980), son on Otto Hupke (DIED 1925)....all lived in Chgo. in early 1900's. william's brothers and sisters were Emma, Bertha, Otto jr.,Minie,marie, clara,arthur,ewald, and one more unknown sibling.

My grandfather was William Hupke (born 1889-died 1980) who lived in Chgo.in his earlier years. His father was Otto who lived near him and in later years lived with Otto's daughter Clara Roerhbeck in Chgo. Otto died 4/25 in Elgin, Il. His wife was Johanna Paeth, died 9/10 in Chgo. They had 10 children.(one named Otto, born 1890). William was married to Minnie Wage and they had 2 children. Their daughter, Bernice, is my 93 year old mother..still living. I would like to know if Otto had any brothers, what country they came from, and what year, their parents. Lutheran was their religion. Glenn Stousland

I believe I sent you my Hupke file back in 2001. Your father an I are first cousins. Carl HUPKE is my grandfather also. Your father Otto and my mother Rose (Hupke)Goreham are brothers and sisters. I was born and raised in Langford, SD.

I have an extensive HUPKE file, but I have not been able to relate them to my HUPKES.
If you can provide birth dates or other information on OttO HUPKE and his son, William, I may have who you are looking for. I have several Otto and Williams HUPKE's. Most had lived in the Chicago area.

My Grandfather's Name was Otto Hupke, he was born in 1911. His father was Carl Hupke who came over from germany or prussia area i believe. I also think Carl had a brother and they first came to the Sheldon IA area, then Carl came to Langford. Otto had lived in Langford, SD all of his life. This probly doesn't help you out at all, but since Hupke is a rare last name it's neat to learn about other's.

we are looking for relatives of an Otto Hupke who lived in Chicago and may have died about 1922-23. He had a son named William who would be our grandfather. Any information you might have would be appreciated.

gerade habe ich eine lange Antwort an Dich geschickt, die ist aber irgendwo im Äther verschwunden....Ich entschuldige mich zunächst einmal für die lange Wartezeit!
Ich habe meinen Vater ausgefragt, leider kennt er Deine Grossmutter Hiltrud aus Kösslin nicht, dazu kommt dass er auf der Flucht 1945 mit seinen Eltern und Geschwistern sämtliche Familiendokument verloren hat bzw. zurücklassen musste, es ist also kein Stammbaum vorhanden.

thank you very much for your translation which is fine! Sorry for the delay in my reply to Martin Pritzner. I asked my father if recognizes some of the names and dates but unfortunately the names doesn't "ring a bell" and all the family documents that could have told us about the Hupkes has been lost while they were fleeing from Pomerania to Western Germany....

I Know that my grandfather, Wilhelm Hupke, has been raised be his aunt and his uncle because his parents died young. But we do not know many about them, I'll ask my father about that again and let you know about it.

It is a pleasure talking to you, sorry for not being able to give you some exciting news about us Hupkes...

Sorry for the delay in replying to your message. I have just started working on the Hupke's again.
My mother was a daughter to Carl Hupke born in Pommerna, Prussia in 1868. His father, my great grantfather, was Wilhelm Hupke, born 1834 in Prussia, he came to America in 1870 and settled in Monee, Will Co. Illinois, USA. He married Friedricke Kesserow abut 1859 in Prussia, Germany. Wilhelm's mother came to America with him in 1870. She was widowed before coming to America. I haven't been able to find any siblings of Wilhelm except for maybe one brother who changed the spelling of his surname to Hopkey. I believe that more came to america also.

Er verband Friedricke Kesserow berührt 1859 im Preußen, Deutschland. Wilhelm's Mutter kam nach Amerika mit ihm 1870. Sie war widowed, bevor sie nach Amerika kam. I haven't in der Lage ge$$$WESEN, irgendwelche Geschwister von Wilhelm außer möglicherweise einem Bruder zu finden, der die Rechtschreibung seines Familiennameen zu Hopkey änderte. es ist schon kurrios, sich über amerikanische Seiten zu verständigen, wenn es eigentlich so nah ist vor Ort. Meine Großmutter hieß Hiltrud Hupke und kam aus Köslin (heute Polen) Ihr Vater Max Hupke hatte dort gelebt und die Familie hatte 4 Kinder (1 Junge starb) 1 Sohn und 2 Töchter. Vielleicht gibt es Gemeinsamkeiten ??? Meine Mutter, die Tochter von Hiltrud Hupke lebt in Ostdeutschland an der Ostsee.
Würde mich freuen, zu hören, ob da was zusammenhängt ?!?!

I'm German and have just searched the web for the name Hupke, it's been years that I'm working with the net but I never had the idea to look what Google is spitting out when I put my name in it...

I'm Andrea Hupke, I'm 46, living and working in Paris, France, and my father is Joachim Hupke, he lives near Frankfurt, Germany. My grandfather was Wilhelm Hupke, their family originally came from a little village near the baltic sea in the north-east of Germany (which is now Poland) where they had to leave during the last days of the second world war. The name of the village was Viartlum and the most important town around was Stolp. I'm curious whether some of my ancestors have emigrated to the US....

Anyway, it is nice to see the names of other Hupke's ...

LAWRENCE L. HUPKE , 71, of Los Alamos, died Tuesday following a sudden illness. He retired from Los Alamos National Laboratory after 37 years of service. He served in the Navy aboard the USS Orion during the Korean War. He was a member and past exalted ruler of BPOE Lodge of Los Alamos. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Helen Hupke; and a son, Michael Hupke. He is survived by his wife, Jerry Hupke of Los Alamos; son, Patrick Hupke and wife Evelyn; two grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Wilfred Hupke and wife Dottie of Arizona, Lester Hupke and wife Frances of Iowa, Berniece Green and husband Scott of Nebraska, LouAnn Owens and husband Robert of Florida, JoAnn Frahm and husband Bob of Iowa, and Loretta Wilson and husband Billy of Los Alamos; and many other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Los Alamos. Would love to compare information. Our Hopkey's went to IA from Monee IL and we believe John is brother to Karl/Carl. Would be very interested in your information from 1980 and willing to share we I have. My husband is decendent of John's ((1837)daughter Bertha who married Fred Freie. I was just browsing through my fathers Bible and found the obit for John Hopkey of Latimer Iowa. Born March 28,1899 Died November 6,1977. He had two sisters Emma Ahlberg and Mable Murray. Two brothers Ed Hopkey my grandfather and Clarence Hopkey. Hopfully this might help.

My great-grandparents are Karl and Lena (Korthauer) Hupke. My grandmother is Leda (Hupke) Sell. I have an old family tree book that someone in our family did in the early 1980's I believe, if you are still looking for information on this family. We are working on updating it right now.

I am seeking information on Wilhelm andFriedrickHUPKE/Hopke who were listed as living in Hartley, Iowa, in the 1900 census. I didn't know how long they were living there, could be any where between 1890 an later. There childrens names are:
1. Wilhelima (Mina)
2. Bertha
3. Carl William (my grandfather)
4. Wilhelm
5. Augusta
Bertha was married to Albert MACK and was living in MN in 1945. Augusta was married to _______? MILLER and was living in Illinois in 1945. Carl William married Lena KORTHAUER in Osceola County, Iowa in 1895, he lived in O'Brien county before moving to South Dakota. Please contact me if any one has any information on this family.

I have information on John Hopkey/Hupke. His grandson Ray remembers going to SD to visit cousins. "Karl Hupke family. They had 14 children. Three were boys. We met two, Otto and Walter. Otto farmed and Walter had Gamble store."

As I understand, or I was told. When the family came to america I guess Carl was split up from his family and never found them? that is why I guess he ended up in Langford, SD and the rest of the family in Iowa I guess??

I am Jordan Hupke and Carl Hupke was my great great grandfather. My grandfather, Otto Hupke, was his son. My father, Keith Hupke, was Otto's son, and I am Keith's son.
I live on a family farm in Langford.
